Addiction Interview

You will interview at least 2 people on the subject of addiction.

1. One of the people should be someone who has never been addicted to a substance before.

2. The second person is either currently addicted, had an addiction in the past or had a close family member who was addicted by an unhealthy substance

You need to ask 10 questions of the two people you interview. Come up with your own questions and make sure that your question makes sense for the person you are interviewing (example you wouldn’t ask someone who has never been addicted “What made you stop?”.

Below are examples of questions we have made up that you can use.

Users or Past Users

1. When did you start smoking/drinking/using and why do you think you started?

2. Could anyone or anything kept you from starting?

3. Have you ever really tried to stop?

4. Would you of started if you knew what you know now?

5. What would you say to someone who is starting or thinking about starting?

Non Users

1. What kept you from ever using?

2. Why do you think some people use?

3. Would you ever date someone who uses?

4. What would you like to say to someone who might be thinking about using?

Type the 10 questions you want to ask. Conduct your Interviews and fill in your responses.

After your interviews write a one paragraph summary reflecting on what you found out and how it has impacted your view of addiction.
