Dear Parents/Guardians,

BRAHMA BUCKS NIGHT! - This Tuesday, September 17th, we will be holding our annual Brahma Bucks/Meet the Teacher Night. Please make sure to make plans for this awesome event. There will be a PTSA table set up selling t-shirts, collecting memberships, and accepting donations in any amount! The evening is as follows:

• 5:30-6:00 PM

o GT Meeting in library

o Parent’s pick-up student schedules from counselor tables

o Parents visit PTSA Tables

• 6:00-6:30 PM - PTSA Meeting in the Auditorium

• 6:30-8:15 PM - Rotate through the class schedule, meet your teachers, and donate to PTSA!

This is a great night to connect with MAC, meet your child’s teachers, and join as well as support PTSA!  They will also be accepting donations, as this is the only PTSA fundraiser for the year. The goal is to raise at least $4,000 to support the work of our MAC PTSA.

We will handing out students schedules on Monday, September 16th during 2nd period. If a student is absent, we will give it to the student on Tuesday.  After we pass the schedules out, we will ask the students to take a picture of the schedule and send it to their parent.  We are hoping that by having the students send the schedule, our parents spend less time waiting in line to pick one up Tuesday evening. We will still have a paper copy of your child’s schedule available for you to pick up starting at 5 pm on Tuesday. Please be aware that you will be walking your student’s schedule so please dress knowing that there will be a lot of walking (including up and down the stairs). The evening will conclude around 8:30 pm. For complete information, please see the attached flyer. Do not miss out on being a part of this great evening. I look for forward to seeing you all at Brahma Bucks Night. Go Brahmas!

The progress reports are available online through family access and student access.

We still have clear backpacks available in the principal’s office for $20. Students are not required to have a backpack so please remember, Clear Backpack or No Backpack! Go Brahmas!

ATTENDANCE – If you are picking your child up early for an appointment or any other reason, please make sure that you sign them out at the attendance office. Please do not have them go directly to your vehicle as we will have no record of their leaving and it can show as an unexcused absence. Thank you for your cooperation.

This week we will be holding Assemblies by grade level to go over all behavioral expectations for our students.

UPDATE EMAILS - Many of you do not have a current or correct email address in our system. You are missing out on important communication. Please make sure you take time to go into your Family Access account to update or ensure that you have a correct email entered so that we can adequately communicate with you. The sooner you do this, the better.

TOBACCO/VAPE PRODUCTS ON SCHOOL PROPERTY – The following is directly from the NEISD Student Code of Conduct, which can be found at:

North East ISD prohibits the following in accordance with Texas Education Code Section 38.006 and Texas Health and Safety Code Section 161.081:

1. Any adult and/or student from smoking cigarettes, tobacco, tobacco products, electronic, vapor, smokeless or any other substitute form of cigarettes, tobacco or tobacco-like products, as well as the use of any devices which are used for the purpose of ingesting or transmitting any type of tobacco or tobacco-like products at a school-related or school-sanctioned activity on or off school property.

2. Students from possessing or using cigarettes, tobacco, tobacco products, electronic, vapor, smokeless or any other substitute form of cigarettes, tobacco or tobacco-like products, as well as the use of any devices which are used for the purpose of ingesting or transmitting any type of tobacco, or tobacco-like products at a school-related or school-sanctioned activity on or off school property.

North East ISD will ensure that school personnel will enforce the tobacco/vapor rules. State law prohibits the possession, purchase, consumption or acceptance of an electronic cigarette, cigarette or tobacco product by an individual who is younger than 18 years of age. An offense under state law is punishable by a fine. Additionally, students will face disciplinary consequences which could include a DAEP placement or an expulsion for a THC or CBD related violation.

STUDENT ID’S - Please remember that every student is required to have a student ID. Students should have it in their possession and present it on request. It is also required to access the library. There are also many other discounts that can be accessible with the student ID. This includes the student rate to ride VIA. Freshmen receive one free ID card. Replacement cards are $5. Students in need of an ID can get them at the Assistant Principal office.

ACTIVITIES -

MAC Football – The Brahmas were under the lights and televised on Saturday, as they went head to head with Boerne Champion. The Brahmas showed a lot of heart and played hard from start to finish. Champion took an early lead and held our Brahmas scoreless in the first quarter. However, the Brahmas kept at it and got on the board on a 72-yard pass from Austin Lee to Charles Collins for the TD. Collins would score again on a 40-yard pass from Lee. James Odunsi would add to the Brahma score on an 87-yard run. Alonzo Escobar hit all the extra points. However, MAC would fall short as they closed out their pre-district games. I will say that the final score did not truly reflect the great game our Brahmas played, nor the great enthusiasm of our students, parents and fans.

This Friday, September 20th, our Brahmas will open district play with our Homecoming game against Roosevelt. The game will be at Comalander Stadium starting at 7:30 pm. Our MAC band will be performing after the game to allow for Homecoming activities at halftime. So, please stay and watch their awesome performance. Go Brahma Football!

Football Tickets: Remember that tickets for this week’s game, including reserved seating, can be purchased online in advance from the Brushfire website.  You can access tickets for Brahma games at:

Tickets are $3 for students and $7 for adults. All tickets are $8 at the gate. Tickets will also be on sale starting on Tuesday, September 17th, in the main office, through Friday September 20th. They will be available before school from 7:45 am to 8:45 am, and during lunches from 11:45 am to 2:25 pm. You can also purchase them at the entryway on Friday at the Pep Rally (Cash Only). Go Brahma Football!

MAC Volleyball – The Brahma Volleyball program had another great week! On Tuesday, we met with San Marcos for four exciting home matches. The Freshman A took home a three set victory, and the Varsity rallied through an energetic four sets to win the match 25-23 after being down 22-23! Way to fight Brahmas! Then this Friday the ladies opened up district play against Roosevelt and clinched the program’s fifth program sweep. All teams are now 1-0 in district record! The Brahmas will continue this fighting spirit next week with South San on Tuesday night and Johnson on Friday. Tuesday games are all at South San and times as follows: Freshman A at 5, JV at 6 and Varsity at 7:15. Then on Friday Freshmen games are at Mac and JV and Varsity are at BAC and times as follows: Freshman A at 5 and B at 6, Varsity at 5 and JV at 6:15. Thanks for all of the continued love and support from all Brahma fans!! Couldn’t do it without you!! Go Lady Brahma Volleyball!

MAC Tennis – Mac Tennis had a great week on the courts. They started out on Tuesday with a win over South San. They are a start-up program, but they put up some good competition. On Friday, the Brahmas were back at Blossom to go up against Madison. What a great match it was. The Brahmas played hard and held off the Mavericks. However, they were edged out near the end, in a very close overall match.

We are very proud of all of our Brahma Netters. They play hard and never back off. We look forward to more great performances on the courts from our Brahmas!! Go Brahma Tennis!

MAC Cross Country – The Cross Country team raced at Retama Park on Saturday, September 7th, in the FEAST Meet. The Brahmas shines across all four divisions, and proved to be a successful day for the team.

The Varsity Girls raced to 15th place of 37 total teams in the division. Arden Schweninger took the lead for the group and crossed first for the team—finishing in the top 50 overall; Leslie Munoz was close behind; followed by Brooke Veltman. Co-captain, Mia Macedo was the fourth finisher for mac, and rounding out the top five finishers, was 1st year runner—Miranda Robinson.

Fourth year letterman, Joshua Castellanos finished in the top 50 for the Varsity Boys division—crossing the line 48th of 379 total runners. Amir Abidi and Jesse Garcia were the second and third, respectively. Cannon Barry finished 4th and Trenton Workman finalized the scoring for the team, by finishing as the 5th runner.

The JV Girls had two big finishers in the division. Both Elizabeth Colin and Ariel Amara finished in the top 20 of 230 total runners—both earning a medal for their impressive finishes. Also running well, landing in the top 50, was Larissa Dretke. Newcomer, Ciara Cardon crossed 4th and Eveylin Sanchez, 5th for the team.

First year Brahma, Drew Osborn finished number 60 out of nearly 400 runners in the JV Boys division. Fellow first year Cross Country runners—Julian Herrera, Juan Plaza, and Andrew Hernandez finished second through fourth for the team. Nic Pepi completed the scoring for the division.

Saturday, September 14th, was one of the coolest mornings of the year, as the Brahma Cross Country teams raced in the 2nd NEISD hosted meet of the year. Our beloved Sports Park was the course for the race, and the teams did a great job holding their own.

The Varsity Girls’ division was up first for the morning. Four of the team’s original five members set out on the course, and they were joined by Elizabeth Colin, who normally leads the JV Girls’ squad—to fill in as the fifth runner. Aimee Quan sat out this meet as a precautionary measure, to ensure a healthy remainder of the season.

Sophomore, Arden Schweninger, once again finished first for the Brahma squad—and was 21st overall. Her time of 20:52 was a season personal best. Senior, Leslie Munoz finished just four places behind Arden—also running a season best time of 21:03. Brooke Veltman and Mia Macedo raced to the finish line in dramatic fashion—finishing just one second difference between the two in 21:50 and 21:51, respectively. Making her Varsity debut, Elizabeth Colin ran a strong race, to cross as the team’s number five runner, and solidify the team’s overall 11th place, out of 24 teams.

For the Varsity Boys, Senior Joshua Castellanos sizzled on the course. Joshua finished as the 13th overall runner—finishing in the top 20 of a very heated division, with a personal best, 16:45. Fellow teammate, Amir Abidi ran a season best time of 17:26, and cracked the top 40 runners. Jacob Esquivel also finished in a personal best time of 18:45. Trenton Workman and William Allen continued the trend of personal bests for the season—running 19:05 and 19:26, respectively. The Varsity Boys also finished 11th for the meet.

This week, the Varsity teams will head to Corpus Christi for the Islander Splash, while the JV teams will race at Gustafson Stadium for the Northside Invitational. Go Brahma Cross Country!!

MAC Golf – Is your child interested in being on the golf team? Due to an increase of the number of students interested in golf, we will have a 3-day golf evaluation after school. The Golf Evaluations will be Monday, Sept 16th, through Wednesday, Sept 18th, at Northern Hills Golf Course 4:40 – 6:00pm. Final roster will be posted on Friday, Sept 20th. This is an opportunity for interested students to get involved. Go Brahma Golf!

MAC SOCCER - The Mac girls’ soccer team went to the SAFC game Saturday night.  They had a great time sitting together and cheering on our professional soccer team.  SAFC won the game 3-1.  This is an experience the girls won’t forget!  They realized that one of their own was out on the field as Susan Cardone's (she graduated last year) older brother is the goalkeeper for SAFC and he is also a Mac alum!  It is great for the girls to watch some amazing soccer and they had a connection with the team, which made it all the more meaningful!  At the end of the game, they were invited out onto the field to take a picture!  It was an awesome experience for the girls!  They will be heading out to the last regular season game on October 19th where our girls will be bringing out the flags on the field at the beginning of the game. Go Brahma Soccer!

It is not okay to be disruptive or engage in personal attacks or confrontations with Coaches, referees, or students. Anyone causing a disturbance or verbally abusing the officials, coaches, or students will be removed from the game and may face removal from all athletic events. Please let the coaches take care of the coaching and dealing with the officials. It is extremely important for us to model appropriate behavior at any function. Your cooperation and support is greatly appreciated. Go Brahmas!
