|After removing the axle nut and the hub retaining bolts, pull the hub straight out to |

|remove it |

1. Raise and safely support the vehicle.

2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.

3. Remove the drive axle nut.

4. Remove the brake caliper bolts and support the brake caliper to the side.

5. Remove the brake rotor.

6. Remove the 3 bolts that go through the steering knuckle from the back of the knuckle. Rust buildup may require a generous application of penetrating oil where the hub fits into the knuckle.

7. Remove the hub and bearing assembly from the steering knuckle.

To install:

8. Install hub and bearing assembly to steering knuckle while carefully inserting the drive axle through hub assembly.

9. Install hub and bearing bolts and tighten to 70 ft. lbs. (95 Nm).

10. Install the brake rotor.

11. Install the brake caliper and bolts.

12. Install the axle nut and tighten it to 185 ft. lbs. (260 Nm).

13. Install the tire and wheel assembly and tighten the lugnuts to 100 ft. lbs. (140 Nm).

14. Lower the vehicle.

15. Road test the vehicle and verify proper operation.

The J-body models are equipped with sealed hub and bearing assemblies. The hub and sbearing assemblies are non-serviceable. If the assembly is damaged, the complete unit must be replaced. Refer to Section 8 for the hub and bearing removal and installation procedure.
