2020 Moving Process StepsIowa Annual Conference of the United Methodist ChurchMoving Process StepsInitial Parsonage InspectionThis will be done the night of the Appointment Introduction Meeting (AIM). The District Superintendent, Chair of the SPRC, and Chair of the Board of Trustees will complete the Initial Parsonage Inspection Form. If more than 2 days is needed to prepare the parsonage for the next pastor, this must be noted on the Initial Parsonage Inspection Form. Your request will be considered; however, not guaranteed. If the form is not completed and extra time is required, it will not be granted.Move Authorization FormWithin a week after your appointment has been announced, you will receive a FormVite with a link to fill out the move authorization form. You must complete and submit this form within three (3) days. If it is not submitted, you may not be eligible for a Conference-paid move. Every person receiving a new appointment/assignment must complete this form, even if there is not a physical move involved.Contact MoversAfter you submit your FormVite, you will receive the contact information for the mover. It will be your responsibility to contact them to schedule your initial move survey and to arrange to have boxes delivered. If you are planning to do a self‐move, you will receive information about who to contact to have this authorized. This must be done prior to making any moving arrangements.Mover SurveyThe mover will come to the home of the pastor to estimate the cost of the move and review the move policy and damage policy. You will also receive the document, Understanding and Acknowledging your Relocation Rights and Responsibilities. The mover will inform the pastor of the estimated total cost of the move. The Conference will pay for 14,000 lbs. and the pastor will be responsible for anything over that weight. The pastor will have the option of reducing the weight before the actual move. You will be expected to pay for overages prior to being unloaded. The mover will deliver boxes at the time of the survey.Move Dates AssignedIn conjunction with the movers and the Cabinet Move Coordinator will finalize the actual move date. The pastor and SPRC Chair will be notified by email in the first part of May.
