PRESIDENT'S REPORT

2013, what a season it was. With 28 competitive teams taking to the park, only 3 of which were senior sides, just illustrates how strong our junior development has become.

Congratulations to all the sides for a great season, with 13 making the semi’s, 6 of those the Grand Final & 3 taking out Premierships, I could not have been more pleased. However, most important of all I must express that you were all winners just by playing the game we love in the spirit of the club whose colours we wear with pride each weekend.

As we all well know clubs like the ‘Mighty Dragons’ do not run themselves, so I would like to thank the parents, committee members & the executive for volunteering their time week in, week out in order to make things work. Special thanks go out to Bec, Bill, Andy, Paul & Wags for the support they showed me in my first year in the top job.

On behalf of all Dragons I would like to thank the ‘Dragon Ladies’ for their tireless efforts fundraising & the endless hours spent down at Anzac selling merchandise. We couldn’t do it without you.

Lastly I congratulate all the award recipients from 3 years awards to Best & Fairest’s & of course Wags winning the National Volunteer of the Year award from the NRL. On that note, thank you all very much for a fantastic year with a great bunch of people. Up the Mighty Dragons.

Yours in sport, Corey Markham

(El Presidente)

SECRETARY'S REPORT

What a year it has been!!

I’d like to start off by thanking all the Committee, Coaches and Managers for their patience and support throughout the year.

I’m a veteran on the sideline, a spectator all my life. I have never been behind the scenes of a Rugby League Club and being Secretary ….. what a way to learn!

Without the help of the committee (Bill and Wags especially) guiding me through I think I would have ended up in an asylum!! I now know why I was offered/begged/talked into

taking the job. Hahaha.

I have had a great time this year getting more involved with the club, and in the process, have met some great people that contribute their precious time to making our club a successful one. Thank you all for all your hard work throughout the year – I hope to see more of you on the committee next year!!!

There have been many highlights this year for our club this year.

One of my favourite was the Junior League Parade at Shark Park – our club had the largest amount of participants and were by far the most noticeable (and Im sure we made some noise too). I have heard some great stories from the day.

Then there was the visit from the Sharks players Isaac De Gois and Stewart Mills who held a training session with the Special Needs kids and made the time to make sure every kid

that showed up had something signed or a photo taken with them.

Our 8B’s playing a game at the Semi Finals with Paul Williams flashed up on the big screen, and then seeing our boys tapping the players hands as they came out of the tunnel on TV.

But I think the best moment this year was Grahame Wagener taking out the NRL Volunteer of the Year trophy at the NRL One Community Awards Night in September.

Part of the prize was a $5000 donation to the club! He even featured in Rugby League

Week!!! A huge achievement and very well deserved. Congratulations again Wags!!

We are very lucky to have so many dedicated Engadine Dragons Volunteers – that I can’t thank enough for your contributions.

I really have enjoyed my time as secretary this year. I have had a lot more fun than I thought I would,

An experience I wouldn’t change at all.

Thanks again! Bec

DRAGON LADIES’ COMMITTEE REPORT

It has been another great year for the Dragon Ladies Committee. We started the year off with 2 new faces which is nice to see.

In May we had a very fun filled Girls night out at Raya Thai. We filled the restaurant with

80 women and everyone had a fantastic time. Thanks to all that came along and we are looking forward to another great “Girls night” in 2014.

Our ‘Freddo’ frog fundraiser was once again a huge success raising much needed funds for our kids Junior Presentation day. Thanks for your support with this fundraiser. Hope you enjoyed your Chocolates.

We love seeing all the kids and adults out and about in our Dragons gear. We are hoping to have a few new items next year to add to your kit.

We would like to thank Kim Micallef who was our President to start the year, however due to business commitments she was unable to continue with us. Thanks Kim for all your help

and support over the years we wish you every success.

Kylie Ibbett was our super secretary once again. You do a fantastic job Kylie, keeping our minutes at our meetings. Well done.

Our super star treasurer Yasmin Noakes has done a fantastic job in her new role this year keeping all our money in order. Thanks Yas for your Spreadsheets!

Our fantastic committee members, Simone Peychers, Belinda Sheehy, Vanessa McCrohon and Michelle Freeman have all worked tirelessly with our fundraisers, selling merchandise helping in canteen when needed.

Thanks girls for always being available to help out our Club.

We are looking forward to another fantastic year in 2014 and would love to see some more faces on our committee.

See you all next year.

COLIN COLE MEMORIAL AWARD

This Award is given in recognition of the time and effort that a person contributes to the Club in regard to its successful operation.

Corey MARKHAM

Corey was a unanimous and very worthy winner of this prestigious award in 2013, and I am sure everyone would whole heartedly agree with this decision.

At the start of the 2013 season and with no President on board, Corey stood up and took the position and led the club with great pride. Each week Corey would work around the clock organising all the mundane tasks that need doing to keep this big club running. He would be down the clubhouse every Friday afternoon sorting out the canteen and BBQ needs for the following day, and he never missed a Saturday at Anzac, and would regularly be there from 7am to well after the last game, making sure that all was running smooth.

Corey has been involved with the Dragons for many seasons as both a player and a coach, and for him to take on such a demanding job, with no sons playing, is a great testament to his love and enthusiasm for our great club. A special mention must also go to his wife Donna, who has supported Corey and helped out with jobs all year, constantly being at the oval working in the canteen and wherever else needed.

With no A Grade this year, and the need for new innovations to bring income into the club, Corey introduced the Super Saturday’s, which was a resounding success and well received by all of the players and parents.

I am sure I can speak for everyone involved with the Dragons in saying that Corey has thoroughly deserved this award this year, and we all hope he will back as President in 2014.

Congratulations Corey.

ROD BAKER MEMORIAL SHIELD

This Award is given to a person in recognition of their commitment to the Dragons and for the work they have done throughout the year.

Rebecca NEWTON

This was Rebecca’s first year on the committee, and she took on the position of Club Secretary as well, a job that no-one ever wants to do, and undoubtedly the hardest job in the club.

Bec took to this role like a duck to water and organised the daily runnings of the club with the upmost professionalism. She did a fantastic job on getting the rosters and the weekly draw out to all coaches and managers, a job that is never easy with the many changes by the Junior League each week.

Bec has worked tirelessly for the club every week and would always be on hand in the canteen, BBQ duty and representing at the junior league meetings on a Monday night.

With three young boys and organising getting them to football and school each week, made her efforts that she has achieved in this position this year even more impressive.

Rebecca could always be counted on to deal with any drama and help out in any way she could, and would never decline a task that was asked of her all year.

The entire Dragons Club would like to congratulate you on this much deserved award, and we all hope to see you back in the same position in 2014.

Taine has played for many seasons for the Dragons and is closing in on his 150th game, in which he has played with the highest skill level and professionalism that could be expected from any young footballer.

Taine has made the fullback position his own over many seasons, and he possesses one of the most exciting running games, with a sidestep equivalent to any grade player. His defence is also as safe as houses, and he is respected by all of his team mates and peers.

Taine comes from a very strong football family and has big shoes to fill, but I am sure we will be hearing a lot more of Taine for many years to come, and he definitely has the potential to emulate his famous dad, uncles and grandfather.

Congratulations on a fantastic season Taine, you are an exceptional young man with a very bright future in this great game.

Well done.

GRAEME MORRISON AWARD

Awarded to any Coach for Team Performance.

Scott HANLON

With several teams making the Grand Finals this season and 3 premierships to the Club, there was a strong list of nominations for the Coaches award.

Scott was a unanimous winner, who took out over 90% of the votes lodged, and everyone involved in the Executive, Committee and all of the other coaches could not be happier with this result.

Scott has coached the 10B side for a couple of years now and took them to a Grand final in 2012 and just got pipped, but in 2013 he turned this team into a side of young champions and had revenge on Aquinas in the GF, after suffering a big defeat 2 weeks earlier in the first Semi Final.

Anyone who knows Scott has the upmost admiration and respect for such a likeable and caring bloke, who always has the best interest of his players, their parents and the Dragons as a first priority.

Scotty is a coach who goes about his coaching with integrity and would never ask for any special treatment or accolades, as he just loves being involved with his team and mates. The 10Bs were also voted as the Dragons team of the year, which is a great honour for Scott and his fellow coaching staff, manager, trainers and of course all of the players.

Scott you thoroughly deserve both the Coach of the year and also the honour of Team of the year and the club commends you on your achievements in 2013.

I know Scott will be embarrassed to receive this award, but I say to you mate, enjoy every bit of it as the Engadine Dragons are better off for having you in our Club.

SPORTSMAN AWARD

Awarded to a Player on all round sporting ability and achievement and held on one occasion only.

Jack METCALFE

What a stellar season jack has had, in all sporting codes.

Jack excelled each week in the under 12A side and on top of this he was selected to represent Sydney East School teams in both Rugby League and Rugby Union in the State

Cup knock out competitions.

Jack was selected in the centres for the league competition and he was instrumental in helping his side win the competition at Dubbo, and very unlucky not to be selected in the NSW team.

Jack possesses an amazing sidestep that fools many a player and is solid in defence. He was also a part of the under 12 Engadine/Bosco OZ-Tag team that went to the knockouts on the South coast and played with skill and enthusiasm in every game.

Jack is the type of kid who can take to any sport he puts his hand to, and be competitive at the highest level in doing so, and is a very worthy winner of the 2013 Sportsman award. Congratulations Jack on a most successful and rewarding year, I am sure we will be reading and hearing about your future achievements for many years to come.

HAZEL COUSEMACKER TROPHY

Awarded to the best performing Club Player at Junior Representative game level.

No Representative Player this year.

GARY CANNINGS AWARD

Awarded to a Player as an encouragement for them to continue playing Rugby League with the Dragons, taking the opportunity to develop and improve their game and to continue their participation in a great team sport with the Club.

Jaron ISEMONGER

Jaron has played for the dragons for 8 seasons now and there would not be a more polite, respected and likeable boy playing within our club.

Jaron plays in the hooker position and gives his best effort every time he puts on the Dragons colours. He prides himself on his defence, and is a very good dummy half runner who often catches the opposition out, with his darting runs.

You can always count on Jaron to help a mate out or assist with any parent or committee member when there is a job to be done around Anzac on game day or during the training week.

Jaron has played 106 games for the Dragons so far, but I am sure he will be plugging away in another 10-15 years’ time, week after week with our future A-Grade sides, with same attitude and respect he displays today.

Jaron definitely deserves the Gary Canning’s award this season and he truly represents what this award was intended for.

Congratulations Jaron on this wonderful achievement.

PETER GREEN AWARD

Awarded to the most valuable Dragons Player and is based on the person who accumulates the most Best & Fairest points during the season – across all Grades.

Harrison NOAKES

Harry played his seventh season with the Dragons this year, has played over 100 games and to be awarded the Peter Green award for the club is well deserved.

Harry loves his footy and is most enthusiastic in all aspect of the game. Participates 100% at training as well as in a game.

Always talking to his team by giving encouragement and leading by example, taking hit up after hit up. Not only a work horse in running but in defense also. Not the most text book tackler, but very strong and reliable often putting his body on the line. If those of you that watched his teams grand final win this year would have seen a fine game which demonstrated his qualities.

Use this award Harry to give you the encouragement to strive to develop your game for future success with the Engadine Dragons

Top effort and well done Harry.

GRAHAME KIDD MEMORIAL TROPHY

Awarded to any player from under 6 to under 9 in recognition of future talent.

This is not an encouragement award. This is to a player who has shown outstanding ability in his age group and has the potential of being an up-and-coming player of the future.

Dane LYNCH

Dane played his fourth year of rugby league this year and has showed over these years to be an excellent talent and one to watch in the future.

In two of his previous seasons he has been voted Best and Fairest for his team, proving the many talents he possess.

A natural ball player who plays in the halves, Dane's passing game is great to watch. At 9 years of age he shows talent beyond his years. He can already throw long cut out passes and directs his team around the park well. Dane also has an exceptional kicking game which resulted in many tries this year. In completing his all round game he is also a fine defender, often first in to lead by example.

Dane is a worthy recipient of this prestigious award and will no doubt be a future talent for this club.

Congratulations Dane.

Miss Engadine Dragons 2013 Jessica Jenkins

Jessica with her partner Cameron Skillcorn at the JL Ball

Jess is currently at Uni studying for a Bachelor of Nursing degree, as she ultimately wants to become a paramedic. Jess has just finished her 1st year and still has 2 years to go.

“Juggling a nursing degree with part-time work at McDonalds and being Miss Engadine has definitely been one that was tough, but I wouldn't change it for anything. I feel so privileged for being given the opportunity to represent the club and I'm so thankful for being chosen. Despite not winning Miss Junior League, I had an unforgettable experience and I felt honoured to be representing this great club along with meeting and working along side the lovely ladies and men of the committee”.

A Minute with Miss Engadine

When/ How did you become involved with the Engadine Dragons?

I became involved in the Engadine Dragons when my brother was 4 years of age. He began in the under 6's and has since been playing for the Dragons - now being in the

under 15's. 11 years of watching incredible football by my brother and his team mates has

been a family weekend tradition and I'm hoping Chris will play for many years to come.

What made you want to become Miss Engadine??

I wanted to apply for Miss Engadine because I wanted to show my family, especially my brother, that I wanted more involvement than just being a spectator at the football. I

wanted to help fundraise and support my local football club as well as watch the talented

boys play football.

What was your highlight while being Miss Engadine this year?

My highlight of becoming Miss Engadine had to be fundraising at the Sharks game. It definitely made me feel like I was part of the team, and it gave me a sense of responsibility

and pride to be representing the Engadine Dragons. I saw so many Engadine Dragons

people there and it was fantastic that they supported me by buying the tickets I was selling.

Best and Fairest: Cooper BALL Encouragement Award: Koby KIELLOR

This year was a very interesting year; I had three kids with strong lisps, one with an American accent and a jabberer for a coach! None of us could understand each other at training which was hilarious! I have coached now for seven consecutive years and this year was by far my most challenging in many ways. We had 10 players to start the season when Webby left for Tweed Heads and Valentine left for France, leaving us with just the 8 players, of which left us with only three six year olds in the team. But we all played and even won two games in the end which was so exciting. It was an absolute pleasure coaching these boys and by the seasons end they all called me Uncle which was very touching, but is going to hurt at Christmas time with all of my new nephews!! Thank you to the Engadine Dragons Club for letting me coach again Krissy Magraudy for being my American manager, Shane Newts for helping me on the field and most of all Maxo, Kai and Riley for helping me at training, I very much appreciated it! Also congratulations to all the teams that won competitions this year especially the mighty under 11B side!!

HENNING O’SHEA

Henning came along way this year from last year making sand castles and tackling his own team mates to this season being one of the genuine players we really relied on each

game, by the seasons end his defence was strong and his running lead to many tries this

season, well done Henning great season.

COOPER BALL

Cooper Ball was outstanding mid way through the season, he was untouchable, his cover defence was impenetrable and they couldn't catch him when he ran the ball. Cooper was a

great asset to our team and thoroughly deserved the Best and Fairest award this season.

COBY KIELLOR

Coby Patrick Kiellor well what can I say but this Boy is a genuine crowd pleaser with his fiery red hair and his short stocky build, every run he made brought laughter and joy to the sidelines. He scored two reverse tries this season and made two tackles, for a four year old I was very impressed by his tenacity. Great first season Cobes well done.

TIHLYA STULHUT

Tihlya is a bigger boy with plenty of pace, he was a pleasure to coach this year and he was a fantastic member of our team. Tihlya really picked the game up well for his first season and I can't wait to watch him play next year, well done mate great first season.

KAI MAGRAUDY

Kai is our import from the USA, he moved here this year with his parents on a two year working visa and has become part of the family. Kai made some great runs and was one

of our best floppers we had! LOL, see you next season mate well done and I hope when

you go back to California you teach all your mates our game.

COOPER HAYES-CONWAY

Cooper was our battering ram, between him and Coby fighting each game I think he was our most sin binned player, I am joking he was so much fun, Coby and him are extremely

dangerous together look out Engadine West Public School next year?? Cooper tried hard

all year and scored many tries in the middle of the field, I will never forget his diving technique he is a natural try scorer if only we could get him to the try line! LOL.

LINCOLN NEWTON

Linc pulls the best angry face in the entire world. Linc comes from good breeding stock as far as footy players go and has a great future in this game, he was a pleasure to coach and even made two tackles this season, well done Linc great first season mate.

TAJ GEORGE

What do I say about Tajy I have never had a player so happy just to be out on the field but not want to take a run or make a tackle, he has the cutest way about him and in the end

was having two to three runs a game. Big brother was proud of him and always helped at

training, you had a great season Taj and thank you for choosing me to coach you.

6 RED

Season 2013 for our little team proved to be a successful one for the U6Reds. We were lucky enough to have the bulk of the side back up from last year as well as gaining 3 new players. This certainly made it easier coaching the side. Each player I can honestly say improved throughout the year. Whether it was at training or on game day, every time they took the field something new would happen. I’m sure all the parents would agree that they gave us a heap of joy. We started the season with some really good strong wins, really showing off our attacking skills. The biggest improvement I noticed was the way the team defended. From the start of the season when I would really help the kids get into position, to being able to stand back and watch the team do it almost on their own, by getting back in the defence line, or putting up our "wall" as we called it, from training was awesome. At different times throughout each game I could hear different players telling each other to put your "wall up". Training was paying off.

Once that was working they decided to start putting extra passes together and supporting each other. We even started using a move to try and trick the opposition. Watching the kids run straighter and helping each other, which was what I was trying to work on at training, made it all worth it. As hard as we tried I just couldn’t get all the kids over for a try, but it certainly wasn’t from lack of trying by them. I can tell you I’m a very proud coach and parent of these guys and girl. I can’t wait to see them all back next year.

I want to thank all the kids for their efforts this year. Congratulations for all your efforts, you guys are a pleasure to coach. Mums and dads, thanks for all your help at training and support this season.

Belinda, for being our manager thank you for the organising you did emails, texts etc. Garry our trainer, thanks for all the support you gave me and the kids at training and on game day. Can’t wait till next year great work team.

Matt.

KYE CONNOR

A great year mate. Top point scorer, great runner with the ball in hand and a solid defender. Did the most talking out on the field and is starting to understand the game, of where he needs to be either in defence or on the attack. Congratulations on a great year mate well done.

JAKE RAE

Another super year mate. Top little defender out wide and a great pair of hands with your passes. Keep up the talking out on the field, it is a big help to the team. Looking forward to next year. Well done.

COOPER SHEEHY

Well done mate, I loved the way you would run the ball up through the middle everytime you got the ball. You have a super fend keep using it and more tries will come your way.

COOPER STEWART

A new player to our side and wow! The steel in the side with some awesome defence. Always wanted to tackle on every play. I cant wait to watch you next year doing the same

thing. A strong ball runner too giving us plenty of space through the middle. Well done

buddy.

NATHAN WRIGHT

A new player to our team and boy did you improve. Always ready to tackle and loved running out wide. Scored some top tries but it was tackling that stood out. With Cooper the

two top tacklers in the side. Bring on next year. Well done.

TAJ HICKSON

A super ball runner whether in the middle or some fancy footwork to bust through the opposition. Also some great tackling this year too mate. I’m going to miss you buddy, congratulations on a great year.

BLAKE O’KEEFE

Also new to our side and loved the way you play footy mate. Was our out wide specialist, with some great ball running and just as strong defence. Always made the cover tackles

when a break was made. I’m really looking forward to watching you next year mate great job.

SIENNA CONNOR

Well done sweetheart. Gave as much as you got with the boys. Our little encourager and the first one to congratulate the try scorer. Great running when you got the ball and awesome efforts in tackling the boys. I hope you play again next year.

NOAH SYLVESTER

A huge improver this season mate. Did some good ball running but just couldn't get you over for that try! Never stopped trying which is what I loved with you mate. A great year

little mate well done.

CHARLIE BENTLEY

A huge year mate well done. Got the ball and ran as hard as you could every time. Unfortunately didn’t get that try but went so close! Your tackling also improved this year too buddy. Come back next year and that try will come.

Best and Fairest: Koby WALLACE Encouragement Award: Riley SMITH

U6 BLUE

This year the boys had a great season with a mix of new kids and some that were into their second and third year. These boys were a pleasure to coach and all boys improved a lot during the season. With a mix of 4, 5, and 6 year olds the boys preformed very well on the field only losing 1 of their first 6 games before they re- graded the 4 U6 competitions. The Boys found themselves in the top grade and still were competitive in every game. I was really proud of the effort and team spirit they showed all year, for a bunch of young boys they all stuck together never gave up and showed some really good skills to compete with the sides that were both bigger and stronger. The boys went very well at the U6 Gala day only losing one game by a try.

It will be a shame that the team will have to split up next year with some kids going up to the 7’s and some staying down in the U6’s. I`d like to wish all the boys the best of luck for next year and hope to see them all back at the Dragons. I really enjoyed this year with the boys and getting to meet all of their families. Thank you to all of the parents for their efforts this year with setting up the fields, bringing the weekly snacks and also doing the 321 for the season. You really are a great bunch and been a pleasure to hang out with you guys all year. Also thanks to Russ and all the dads for their help as Trainer on game day.

Tez

KOBY WALLACE

Koby had another great season, he loves his footy and it shows every time he plays. Koby has plenty of talent in all areas of the game. He runs the ball well scoring a few tries each game and over 30 for the season. He saves as many as he scores in defence, I have no doubt Kobes will be one of our stars of the future, and a great asset to our team this year which won him this years Best and Fairest.

MADDOX JAMES

Maddox had a great season with speed to burn he would just take the defence on and try his luck. Maddox would always chase if the defence made a break and pull off some great long range cover tackles and even managed to break his arm doing so at the gala day. Good work mate you had a great season.

HAYDEN LEVIN

H really improved a lot this season with some great runs and would always take care of one side of the field making sure no one got around him. H looks like he really belongs on the footy field the way he moves and encourages the other boys. H was definitely our biggest talker on the field and also off it, I’m sure he talks in his sleep. Good work buddy we loved having around this year.

OLLIE TE HIRA

Ollie is another star of the future with one of the best talking styles I have seen from a 5y.o snapping them down around the ankles every time. Ollie runs the ball hard and straight

and is difficult for the opposition to stop him, earning himself quite a few tries this year. I

look forward to watching Ollie in the coming years.

COOPER SMITH

Cooper had a great season this year topping the tackle count on several occasions and also getting himself around 20 tries for the year. Cooper was another much improved

player this year getting himself involved in every game and with good evasive skills making

it hard for the opposition to bring him down. Keep it up Coop.

KYE COLENSO

Its was Kye’s first year of footy and was still a bit intimitated by the opposition but it didn’t stop him getting out there and having a go. Kye had some great runs throughout the

season and a nice little offload to set up his team mates. Little Kye never said no when I

told him it was his run. With a few more years under his belt im sure he will follow in his brothers footsteps and be a great football player. Good work Buddy, seeya next year.

RILEY SMITH

This was also Riley’s first year and was our most improved player throughout the season. Our youngest player in the team but was not scared to run flat out towards the opposition, or do some of the tough stuff in the middle of the field in defence. Riley has a great fend to push away the big guys and crash over the line for some great tries. Riley’s improvement and effort has won him this year’s Encouragement Award.

COOPER WRIGHTSON

Cooper played some really good footy this year when he got involved. He was a bit quiet this year but was always there to help the boys out. I think when Coop realises his

potential he will be a great ball runner with his size and speed he will soon become one of

the most improved players. Thanks for this year and I hope to see you come back and smash them next year Coop.

JACK ATKINS

Jack was my quietest kid, he hardly spoke to me unless he was thirsty. We told him if he didn’t run the ball we would make him do dancing instead of Footy. So he decided to take

the ball up and show us what he could do. He had some great runs with plenty of speed to

get around the big kids. Always played right to the end and loved helping out the boys. A real team player, I would love to see you back again next year Jack, good work mate

Best and Fairest: Kaylem BURGE Encouragement Award: Tyson SHUTTLEWORTH

What a great year for the boys ! we managed to get every player over the try line and some more than once. With a lack of tackling skills in the beginning the boys worked hard and before long they had a win, and with more hard work they managed to win some more. Great work to all the boys for their hard work this year. A special thankyou to Blake Connal and Megan Shuttleworth for all their hard work and to all the parents for their help and support of the kids this year.

JAKE HEDGES

He started slow but we found a way to get him going and by the end he was a great ball and all tackler.Great job!

HUNTER HADFIELD-FILO

A great runner of the ball and turned into a great tackler by the end. Well done!

BODIE TWOMEY

My hardest to work with this year, but with great offloads which led to tries, he worked hard this year. Great work Bodie!

KOBI TUCKER

A slow start but came to his own mid way thru the season with his tackling and running. He worked hard at home to get his kicking down pat and kicking great goals. Fantastic season Kobi!

CORBYN DEVENISH

A great tackler with a get up there first attitude and a great runner of the ball. Good Job!

TYSON SHUTTLEWORTH

Tyson worked hard with his tackling and running of the ball, and by the end he had it down pat with great two man tackles with Kobi, Fantastic season!

KYAN MORRISSEY

He stood back at first but after a game and some runs and hard work at trainning he turned into a great ball runner great work!

ETHAN DRISCOLL

He was a great defence and a determined runner with the ball, Fantastic season, well done!

KAYLEM BURGE

A very determined runner of the ball showing great skills of evasion to get to the try line and a great cover tackler.

DENAN TOWNSEND

A very keen to play attitude, just as enthusiastic to run, had a great season. Fantastic job !

Best and Fairest: Ryan DAVIDSON Encouragement Award: Ryder STEWART

The beginning of the 2013 season was a tough eye opener for me as a coach and for the boys as players, after being a dominant team in 2012. We went out and lost our first 3 games convincingly. We had to come up with a new strategy so we decided to put the boys into more positional play. We tried a few different combinations in attack and ended up with Zane Bell in the dummy half role and Ryan Davidson at first receiver with the rest of the boys running the hit-ups. We also did the same for our defensive line. We had Jordan Wymer in the centre of the field with Cooper Sherwood out on left wing and Ryan Davidson on right wing. Ryder Stewart dropped back into fullback, with Lewis Hood, Zane Bell and Baelin Greer on the right and Zane Crawley, Isaac Quine and Jake Wallace on the left.

Our first game we played in this new line up we had a loss to Sutho, but only by a marginal 8 points. The boys were starting to gel and play like a real football team. It was great to watch. The boys performed better and better as the season went on to win all of our last 9 games.

I would like to thank the parents that helped out this season with training, game day, canteen, BBQ etc. I would also like to thank my wife Jo for managing the team. Finally, on behalf of Under 7Blue I would like to offer a huge thank you to Corey as President, Bec as Secretary together with all the hard working committee members for a great year, without you guys we wouldn’t have such an amazing club.

Ross

LEWIS ‘Bubba’ HOOD

Lewis’ 2nd year with the Dragons was just as good as his first, with blistering runs and hard tackles, great team member. 2 years.

RYDER ‘Hollywood’ STEWART

Ryder played a good hard year, he settled into his new role at fullback perfectly always making massive try saving tackles and once let loose in attack Ryder could easily find his

way to the try line. 3 years.

JORDAN ‘Talk to the Hand’ WYMER

Jordan came crashing into every game, showing his palm to the opposition to make great metres most of the time taking 4 or 5 of the opposition over the line to score well needed points. 2 years.

BAELIN ‘Sharp Shooter’ GREIR

Baelin had a great 1st year with the Dragons. He turned up every week to play football, running hard and strong. He waited until round 15 to leave his mark on the game scoring

his first try of the season against the Roosters. Well done Baelin. 1 year.

ZANE ‘Can he or Carney” BELL

Zane revelled in his role at dummy half feeding the ball out to where it was needed, then he would scoot out on the last dodging and weaving his way to score tries. 3 years.

COOPER ‘Superstar’ SHERWOOD

It took a few weeks to settle into his new team but once Cooper found his way he showed everyone his natural ability as a footballer with his great tackling style, good hard runs in attack and his ability to read the game. Cooper will be a force to be reckoned with in years to come. 2 years.

ISAAC ‘De Gois’ QUINE

For a little guy Isaac plays with massive heart. He ran the ball straight and hard and would always be one of the first out of the line to tackle. Well done Isaac. 2 years.

JAKE ‘The Man” WALLACE

Jake’s natural talent and speed showed this year. He dodged and weaved his way to multiple tries each game and tackled his heart out. Jake had a fantastic year. 2 years.

RYAN ‘Rhino’ DAVIDSON

Ryan had a fantastic season. He showed us his natural ability as he ran the ball dodging and weaving his way past the opposition to score tries and if he couldn’t make it he was always looking for the off-load. He was also great in defence being in the majority of tackles and backing up his mates. 4 years.

ZANE ‘Scoobs’ CRAWLEY

Zane played every week with a big heart. He was in nearly every tackle helping his mates out. He also ran the ball straight and hard making great metres with every run. 1 year.

At the start of the year I had three main goals for the team as the new coach;

1. Make sure all the boys have fun.

2. Teach the boys basic rugby league skills.

3. Maybe win a game or two.

I am pretty confident that we achieved all of the above.

I would like to thank all the boys for a very enjoyable year. A great bunch of kids making the coaching job a pleasure. The personality of the boys was a great mix, giving myself

and Josh plenty of laughs during training and game days.

One special moment was Beau copping a slightly high tackle at training (accidental) from Maxo and losing his first ever tooth, which was already wiggly. The whole team, mums included, were on their hands and knees looking for the tooth on Anzac Oval with no luck and we gave up. Twenty minutes later we finished training and Blake runs over to everyone with the tooth, priceless.

If it were up to me I would be giving each and every one of you a trophy, just for being fantastic little guys.

Many thanks to Erin our manager and trainers James and Josh.

I would also like to thank all the parents for their support throughout the season. Wayne Smith

BLAKE HAYWARD

Blake had a great year, making plenty of fantastic runs, scoring tries and tackled strongly. When the going got tough Blake would make the team call HULK SMASH and lead the

way for all our players in a stacks on tackle. A great personality, always with a big smile,

good work Blake.

MAX CARR-McCARRON

Max’s love of the game was evident from the start of the season. He enjoys anything football. He is a big strong boy and led our team forward with his strong runs. The

opposition thought twice before running straight at Max. I think Max knew the rules of

rugby league better than some of the refs. Great year mate.

BROCK HERD

Brocks very first ever rugby league game could nearly have been his last. At the start of the year in the Penshurst trial game, Brock got smashed by an opposition player who was

as big as George Rose from Manly. He had every right to never touch a rugby league ball

again. But he did and was the teams dummy half, and very reliable in this position. Brock’s improvement in all areas of the game this year was great to see. Well done.

BRAD CASSIDY

Brad, though quiet, has good speed and a great running style making many nice runs throughout the year. If Brad got more ball I am sure he would have scored many more tries this year. Brad was a pleasure to train and coach this year. Good work flash.

BEAU HATTENFELS

A great team player. Tried hard all year. Beau’s game slowly developed as the year progressed especially in the middle of the field where plenty of tackles were made in

defence. Beau was a good trainer and a pleasure to coach. Good work Beau.

WILL MARCIC

Early on in the year when will was asked to have a run, he said “if you give me the ball I will throw it too the other team!” Will’s confidence grew as the year went on. From not wanting to have a run early on in the year to not getting enough runs toward the end. Will enjoys being part of the team and is fun to have at training always laughing. Good stuff Will.

CAMERON BOYD-LARNACH

Cam is big and strong. His improvement throughout the year in his running game was awesome. All he wanted to do was score a try for his mum, and in our last game he did

score but was ripped off by a dodgy decision. I’m calling it a try Kasiano. With that strong

running I am sure you will score plenty of tries next year. You were a pleasure to coach Cam.

FINN McMAHON

Finn was one of our organisers for the team and took this job very seriously. His job was sorting and sharing the runners on his side of the field and did an excellent job. Finn

scored plenty of great tries this year with his Finny Slater speed and swerve running style.

Finns tackling was at times awesome saving many tries this year. Well done Finn.

RYAN WOTTON This boy has speed to burn and great vision for the game, both in attack and defence. Ryan had a fantastic year and was the team’s most consistent player. Ryan scored a heap of tries with the ball and saved a heap of tries in defence. Ryan gives his all every week and is a pleasure to coach. Top year Rhino.

7 REDS

Best and Fairest: Riley LITCHFIELD Encouragement Award: Parker RAUDASCHL

2013 – What a Year! We had a great bunch of kids and fantastic parents. Our team was mostly made up of new boys to the Club and to Footy. As a Coach it was extremely rewarding to see the boys improve from week to week, and with confidence came the emerging skills and their love for the game.

Our first game of the season was a little shaky, but every game after that we were in with a chance and win or lose there was never more than a try or two in it. A season highlight for me was our last game against Como where we were playing with only 6 boys due to illness and we walked away with a draw. A great team effort where the boys really played with their hearts on their sleeve.

I would like to thank the parents for their support that they gave Trent and myself at training and allowing us to coach their boys. Thanks to Michael for organising as only a great Manager can all the emails, texts and scoring every week. Thanks to Greg for running the water each week and giving the boys their instructions on the field.

DYLAN STURGESS

Dylan started the year a bit quiet but as his confidence grew he came on in leaps and bounds. Some of the games Dylan played towards the end of the season were the best of any boy with tough running and tackling anything that moved. What a great season Dylan.

COOPER WOOLLEY

First year of footy and Cooper showed undeniable natural ability and speed. Cooper showed great enthusiasm to run the ball and tackle and he was never afraid to show his mates how it was done. No doubt he will shine in the years ahead, great work Cooper.

HAYDEN WILLIAMS

Hayden started the year where he left off last year giving 110% every game, if he gave the same amount of focus and energy to training he would be unstoppable. Hayden took on

the dummy half role this year and was always ready to take off from dummy half or to

receive an offload to score many a try by being ready on the spot. It’s been a great season, well done Hayden.

JAYDEN GEORGE

Jayden’s first year of footy and boy can this kid run and tackle hard. Our boys felt it at every training session and Jayden started to bring it to the game towards the end of the season with a number of great bone-crunching tackles and never giving up tries. I look forward to seeing more of it next year, top stuff Jayden.

MACKAY JOHNSON

If every boy had Mackay’s enthusiasm for football you couldn’t lose. Mackay loved playing, training and just talking football. A great first season showing natural ability running the ball for some great tries. Just need to remember to stay away from the sideline. What a fantastic effort Mackay.

PARKER RAUDASCHL

Parker was nearly the smallest boy on the field, but don’t let size fool you. Parker “Mr Determination” showed great skill and speed to carve up his opposition and scoring some great tries. Parker was always the boy that listened to his coaches at training and on game day. A great season Parker you should be very proud of yourself, well done.

KAI THATCHER

Kai was put in as first receiver this year and in doing so had to organise the team when we had the ball. Kai did this with ease and in doing so I believe we were the most organised team out there. A fantastic year for Kai with some great dummy half diving over tries this season, well done mate.

RILEY LITCHFIELD

Riley was one of the smallest boys on the field but has one of the biggest hearts. He never gave up, and took the tough runs up the middle of the field time and time again. He also backed it up with tackling time and time again. Riley always listened to what his coaches wanted and he did it. The comments from the other teams were always WOW! Look at this kid he is a tough little player. Great work Riley.

SETH NELSON

Seth only played half the year with us but really started to enjoy his footy before he left. Well done Seth.

Regards Brett.

8B PREMIERS

Best and Fairest: Beau WALLACE Encouragement Award: Jett HICKSON

The boys were graded in the A’s which they were not ready for and were dropped to the B’s from Rd4. We had a lot of catching up to do with some teams already on 6 points. The boys knuckled down and once they tasted their 1st victory, they never looked back. They worked their way up into 2nd position and were ready for the finals.

Our 1st Semi we were lucky to win 12-6 against a much stronger undefeated Gymea side. Gymea were the better team on the day but the football Gods were on our side and we went straight to the Grand final. I could tell the boys were not confident once we found out we would be meeting Gymea again in the GF, they knew our game plan so we had to mix things up.

We knew we had to weaken Gymea if we wanted any chance in the Grand Final and that is exactly what we did. Forward after forward ran up the middle and by the 10 minute mark Gymea was tiring. We went to the 1st break 6-0 after a sensational Try from Beau.

By the 2nd third, with Gymea already limping, our faster guys had no trouble slipping through the gaps and we kept possession for most of the third, however Gymea found a

slight gap in our defence and scored in the corner. After a great Try by Wal, we went to the break 12-6.

The last 3rd seen Tries to Michael, Jacko and Beau. Our defence was so strong, Gymea’s usual runners were throwing offloads to nowhere, not wanting to run the ball. We were all over them.

When the hooter went the score was 28-6. The boys were all over them from the kick off and looked the much stronger team.

Woo Hoo, PREMIERS.

Well it’s off to A grade next year but I am now confident the boys are ready. I believe with the effort they put it, by the end of the season, they would have given any A side a run for their money. Every single player in the team scored points in 2013 for the Dragons.

As a Coach, I could not be happier.

JACKSON “Jacko” CHALK (8 Tries / 7 Goals)

Jacko is a natural. Jacko usually called the shots from halfback. We had 3 X sets this year and Jacko would ensure we stuck to our sets. The master of the Mousetrap.

JAI “Mr Passion” WILLIAMS (4 Tries / 2 Goals)

Mr Passion, Jai takes on the biggest of opposition and always gets them down. Saved many Tries this year from fullback and was one of the fastest in the Team. A 5 season

veteran.

JETT HICKSON (5 Goals)

Jett was a tackling machine and there was no one on the field he could not get down. Hated training but loved Saturdays. Encouragement Award was well deserved.

BRAYDEN WALLACE (8 Tries / 6 Goals)

New to the Team but fitted straight in. The Master of open play. When he gets that ball, not many can take him down. A great little footballer, with a great step.

BEAU WALLACE (16 Tries / 11 Goals)

This guys a superstar. Scored both our Tries in the Semi and made the try saving tackle to put us into the GF. The best hooker in the Comp.

ZAC REA (4 Tries / 5 Goals)

Zac loves his footy and on a good day, can be one of our best players. Once he warms up, he is unstoppable. Don’t try and score on his wing, he’ll drive you out the sideline.

CHARLIE TE HIRA (13 Tries / 9 Goals)

New to the Team, once he worked out how tough he was, he would run straight up the middle and through/over the opposition. Loved the forward set and is the master of the “smasher.”

JACK NISBETT (2 Tries / 2 Goals)

Jack moved into the forwards and really found his feet. Another forward who never took a sideways step (well only once) One of the big guys in the GF.

BRAYDEN BEAMES (9 Tries / 5 Goals)

When he gets that cranky face and runs at teams with his Super palm ready, they move out of his way. Plenty of attitude and full of confidence.

CHAD BONSER (1 Goal)

Chad had a great year and really got confidence towards the end. Saved two tries in the GF and protected his wing with everything. Chad loves to run the ball.

MICHAEL BROADSTOCK (16 Tries / 9 Goals)

Michael fit straight into the team and was one of the best at training.

This showed on the field and he scored nearly every time he had the ball. The opposition did not want to get tackled by Michael.

Paul

8C - Minor Premiers and Runners Up

Best and Fairest: Henri HILES Encouragement Award: Riley BINNS

2013 was an extremely successful year for the 8C side. We started the year in fine fashion, being undefeated up to round 13 when we meet Taren Point for the 3rd time and went down narrowly 24-18. We continued on after this match again undefeated until the first semi-final, when we went down narrowly to Taren Point again, 22-20. This meant we would need to travel to Menai to face Aquinas in the major final, where we were successful

26-16, in which was one of our best victories all year, every boy played with great courage and conviction, and the result was always in the bag from the kick off.

This meant that we would have to face Taren Point for a 5th time in the Grand Final, we gave them a big run for their money but unfortunately we went down to a better and bigger team on the day.

I would like to thank everyone who helped me out this year, and for putting up with my voice for so long. A big special thanks to Matt Keough for all his help this year as my trainer and stand in coach while I was off sick, I couldn’t have done it without you mate. Also to all the dads that were at training each week to help out, a special mention to Troy, Darren, Colin and Steve for the efforts you put in.

I would also like to thank the Wolkiewicz family for their sponsorship this year, if you ever are in Miranda and want a nice feed, you can’t go past the Enclava Café, thanks for your support and for putting on a lunch for all the team it was much appreciated.

A football side needs a good manager to function, and I can say we had one of the best in the business. Michelle Isemonger did our team proud all year and we are all very grateful for the excellent job you did, the Engadine Dragons are better off for your endless help all

year and I thank you for sorting out all the mundane stuff that needs doing each week, cheers Shell.

Finally I would like to thank the 11 new mates I was lucky enough to be associated with this year. You boys are a great bunch of football players and it was a pleasure to part of the journey we took this year. I am very proud of our achievements, especially to be minor premiers, Val Kearns shield winners and to top it off GRAND FINALISTS, it was a sensational effort boys, and I am sure we can go one spot better in 2014.

Cheers Andy

JORDAN BELL (Halfback)

This was Jordan’s first year at footy, and what a natural he was from the start. He was giving the hard role as our halfback and playmaker and handled the job with ease. He is a

very quick little fella with an awesome sidestep and tackles well above his weight. He

scored several tries this season and kicked many a goal, and I am sure he will be a big part of this team for many years to come, and only get better with time. Well done Jordy, a fantastic first season and I am sure you have a big future in the game.

RILEY BINNS (Front row forward)

What a great season BIG RILES had, each week he just seemed to get better and better. His running game had the opposition defence troubled all season and when Riley tackled

an opponent they definitely knew they were hit, and would avoid him for the rest of the

game. Riley was a standout in many of our games and was a worthy winner of the team’s encouragement award this year. Riley was a standout in the goal kicking department as well and you knew he was safe as houses each time he kicked a goal. Looking forward to another big year next year buddy.

KANE “The Steam Train” BOWRAN

From our first game against Taren Point I knew Kane was a player with big potential. He played well above his weight and size each week, and has one of the best running and tackling games in the entire 8C comp. He would put his body on the line week after week and had no fear of any other player, most of them were twice his size as well. Kane was a standout in the Grand Final, and has a big future ahead of him I am sure. See you next year for even bigger things Kane.

JAYKE “The Natural” FIBBINS

Jayke is one of the most impressive 8 year old footballers I have ever seen, and could easily play in an A grade side. He is a destructive ball runner who scored countless tries this season, and boy he can tackle as well. In our match against Kurnell this year, the team scored 28 points, of which Jayke scored 26 of them, which is a massive effort. Jayke single handed won us many games this season, and everyone who watched him, knew they were seeing something very special. I have no doubt that he will be a shining light for many years to come, and it was unfortunate that he was away for the GF, as I am sure it may have been a different result. A fantastic year Jayke.

HENRI HILES (Fullback)

A gifted and natural footballer is Henri. He was a standout in nearly every game this year and was a very deserved winner of the Best & Fairest award. He runs the ball so well and

has a lethal sidestep which resulted in many 4 pointers this year. I believe that it was

Henri’s defensive game that was his strongest feature, and he definitely saved many tries which contributed to us being undefeated this year for so long. He is another player that could be in an A grade side for sure, and it was a great pleasure to watch you play this

year mate, a job well done Henri, I can’t wait to you can get onto the bigger field in 2014 and carve them up.

JARROD HORTON (Second row)

Jarrod had a great season and got better and better with every game. He has the ability to run the ball hard and straight up the middle like a good back rower should. His tackling was one thing Jarrod worked really hard on and he was always there helping in defence. By the end of the year he was kicking goals over the big sticks and his confidence grew stronger each week. Jarrod you have the potential to progress in this game as long as you believe and trust in your ability, and I am sure you will also be suited by the bigger oval next year, well done mate.

BLAKE “The Snake” ISEMONGER (Hooker / dummy half)

Blake the snake really excelled this year and played well above his size each week. He was a natural in the dummy half position, and perfected the art of the sneaky run well,

which resulted in a couple of brilliant tries. Blake would always be the player leading the up

call and be there to hit the opposition with good hard tackles. 2013 was without a doubt Blake’s finest year, and I am sure he will continue to improve each year now he has the confidence and belief in himself. I am very proud of you little buddy, sensational season.

JOEL KEOUGH (Forward)

Joel had a great season and played in the forwards as a hard ball runner. When he grows into his massive feet, I am sure you will see an exciting second rower in the making. He

would always put his body on the line in defence and was a great team player who always

showed respect at training. Joel worked hard each week with the training staff and this payed off for him on game day. Joel if you run the ball like you did to your brother at training I am sure you will cause all sorts of problems to the defence next year. I hope to see you back in 2014 bigger and better than ever Joel, well done on your season.

KYLE MARR (Utility player / dummy half)

It was a pleasure to coach Kyle this year. He listens and takes instructions well, and he was one our best trainers all year. He shared the role of dummy half this year, and really impressed me, also scoring some nice sneaky tries and always catching the defence off mark with some well-timed runs. His hit up in the GF from the tap off was awesome and he showed us just what he is capable of. His defence grew stronger each week, and he finished the season as one of the team’s best goal kickers, rarely missing when asked to have a shot. There are big things in store for you in the future Kyle, well done and see you next year.

LUKE “Twinkle Toes” MAGUIRE (Centre/winger)

This was Luke’s first season in footy, but if you watched him play you would have thought he had been playing for years. He was a prolific try scorer from round one, and his running and weaving through the defensive line was something to see. By the end of the season his tackling game had improved out of sight, and he was close to the best on the paddock in the Grand Final. I have no doubt that you have a big future in rugby league, and like many of the boys in this side, I can see you excelling next year on the bigger field. An amazing first year Luke congratulations.

BRANDON WOLKIEWICZ (Centre/ lock)

Brandon would be one of the biggest and quickest players in our side. He has great strength and is a natural runner of the football, which resulted in several full length of the field, tries this year. He improved on his defence over the season and by midyear, he was crunching and stopping any player that ran in his direction. Brandon was also good goal kicker, and put many over the sticks this year. If I could tell you one thing mate, and that is to listen and concentrate at training and on the field, then you will almost certainly become

a very good player in the future. You had an excellent season and I know you have the ability to do big things in this game, great effort.

I am very proud of all eleven of these Scallywags and Misfits, and it was a great honour to be your coach in 2013. Thanks to all the parents for your help, you also are a great bunch of people, and I feel like I have met some great new lifelong friends.

Cheers Andy

9A – Runners Up

Best and Fairest: Kye ROBSON

Best and Fairest Runner-Up: Harrison HOOD Encouragement Award: Kooper BANNISTER

Most Improved Award: Tyson MITCHELL

This year 2013 was new challenge for the club and especially for the Under 9’s. With a changing of the guard within the club with fresh faced President, new executive and increased committee members. The 9’s were also going to be a huge challenge with 33 kids registered this season. After finally going with 2 larger teams the challenge was set it was time to get started.

I can honestly say I was a little unsure how it would work but was determined to be a fun and successful year. At the beginning we had 6 new kids joining the mighty A’s for 2013. The talent in the side was there for all to see. It took time for the kids to firstly get to know each other and eventually turn into an amazing young footy team. As the smiles and friendships grew so did their footy.

By mid way through the year the boys had their best suited positions, each week they improved in every aspect and most importantly they learnt the key to any age footy, teamwork. As the year went on our scores improved and the table was developing into a 2 horse race. After finishing second on the ladder the boys had a huge challenge of playing the undefeated Como at Como in the first semi final. After what was an unbelievable game of footy the battered Como side held on to win 6 nil. This left them to play the qualifying final against Gymea. After a shaky start they went on to win to make their second and well deserved GF in consecutive years. Now came the Grand Final, what can I say what a game. To all the boys, outstanding effort, this game was without doubt the best game of

junior footy I have ever seen. For nine year olds to play in that heat with extra time, it had everything. I still speak with unknown parents and supporters who cannot believe that this was an under 9’s grand final. As we know we were beaten 12 all ???? which I’m sure will stay with many of us for years to come.

To the parents, thank you for your ongoing support throughout the year at training, on game day, and with our duties on the BBQ and canteen. Thanks also to the supporters and grandparents who continued to cheer us on every week all over the shire.

To Mick our manager your spread sheets and rosters are the envy of every team in the club without your continued efforts this team would not nearly be as successful. I’m sure the tour to Kiama will be a well oiled machine and plenty of laughs all round. Thanks to Hoodmeister for again being our trainer and delivering the magic water and much needed assistance at training every week. Also to all the dad’s headed by Robbo, Lobes and Jock for the after training breakdown as kick tennis dragged on past 6 o’clock every week.

Finally to the boys I hope you had a fun and enjoyable year. You all should be especially proud of your efforts and I’m sure cannot wait for next year. It’s a pleasure to be associated such a well mannered bunch of young dragons and you all made myself and your parents very proud.

See you all again in 2014. Lynchy

LUKE ALEWOOD (Second Row)

Luke was a first time Dragon this season. A quiet kid that took a little while to open up. The Big A improved the longer the season went on. With size and speed he was a handful in

attack. His defence was solid from his confidence growing with each game. By season’s

end resulting in scoring many tries with his big fend. He is a great listener at training. A bright future is ahead. Fantastic year A’.

KOOPER “Koop” BANNISTER (Second Row)

Big Koop had another strong season. Koop is a player when switched on has unlimited talent at his disposal. Hard to contain with the footy and when he puts his head down damaging in defence. As in previous years he is a sleeping giant ready to explode. A good trainer. With even more self belief Kooper can no doubt develop even more next year. Thanks Kooper.

KODY BURGE (Front Row)

Kody was a welcomed new addition to the team this year. Kody is strong as an ox and aggressive. At times this showing all the teams he was the boss. His running is

outstanding but the most improved part of Kody’s footy was his defence. By season’s end,

bending his back and tackling low often stopping opposition in their tracks. Great work Kody looking forward to next year

LACHLAN COLENSO (Front Row)

Lachovich is the forward leader of the team. As always Lachie is first to roll up his sleeves with hit ups every game. He tackles with the same attitude hitting the big boys head on

putting his body on the line. He is growing into complete footballer at such a young age.

He is a stand out trainer and a pleasure to coach. Loves his footy, and his kick tennis. Stay with the footy. Outstanding year Lach.

FLYNN DANTE (Front Row)

Flynn came into the A’s this year and showed throughout the year why. Consistency is Flynn’s middle name playing each week strongly. A hard running forward with safe hands

and in defence always involved. Played as a forward but I have no doubt could play out wide and cause damage to opposition teams. I can predict bigger and better things for Flynn in the future. Well done Flynn.

LACHLAN GOODWIN (Utility)

Mr Potential - Lach is another welcome addition to the Dragons this year. Lachie could play several positions from fullback to first receiver. A natural ball runner with an amazing

swerve, Lachlan carved up many opposition teams throughout the year. Has the ability

and skill to be real player of the future. I’m sure next year with his confidence growing he could be anything. He must sleep well at night. Well done Lachie.

HARRISON HOOD (Centre)

Harrison is a natural. Speed to burn always causing havoc with every run. In defence if there is a better 9 year old tackler I’d like to see him. His technique is amazing. Harrison can swerve past defenders at top speed beyond his age. The harder the opposition the better H plays which was for all to see at season’s end on Grand Final day having a blinder. I can only imagine what next year will bring for H. Well done Harrison.

ZANE KIDD (Half Back)

Zane progressed to make first receiver his own this season. He is a smart player who directed his forwards well around the field all year. He worked well with Taj to form a

reliable and important combination for the team. In defence as in years past out wide he

continued to put his body on the line making countless tackles. Zane can look back on what I believe a terrific year for him and also for the team. Great work Zane.

TAJ KIDD(Hooker)

Taj similarly to his brother played an important part of the team’s success this year. Taj towards seasons end made hooker / dummy half his own. Giving good service and making many strong runs picking up valuable runs and scoring some great tries when needed. A real thinker who kept opposition teams on their toes every week. His tackling is courageous and only one way around the legs. Great effort Taj.

DANE LYNCH (5/8 Half Back)

Dane had another excellent season. He is our play maker and organiser on the field. Moving to 5/8 late in the year Dane went to another level promoting the ball wide

unselfishly to our outside backs resulting in the team scoring many tries. Always involved

in defence making many fine copy book tackles and with his brilliant kicking game made him a key to the team’s success this year. Good Stuff Dane.

TYSON MITCHELL (Fullback)

Without doubt the buy of the season. I still cannot believe this guy was playing in the C’s last season. Tyson has it, skills, speed and toughness. After a nervous start in the A’s his improvement was amazing. Lean and mean best describes this little guy. By season’s end Tyso was in the thick of the action and standing out every week. Weather he was at fullback or up in the line he was always in game with his hard running and body on the line defence. Watch this space. Great year Tyson.

LUKE O’KEEFE (Second Row)

The Big O’ made the switch to the Dragons this season. Small in stature, but big in heart. Luke took a little while to find his feet and his confidence with his new team. As the season

went on Luke got more involved each week. Luke made several weaving runs this year

and was courageous in defence. Always getting back up and playing on after some big knocks. I have no doubt he will be one to watch next year. Well Done O’.

KURT PEYCHERS (Second Row)

The smiling assassin. Please don’t let a cheeky grin fool you. The Nugget can play. Kurt had another strong year for the dragons. Kurt is a strong ball runner, with opposition teams

needing 3 or 4 to bring him down. Defending out wide he continually stopped many

attacking raids in their tracks. Kurt has a given natural ability for footy who can produce tries to win a game and tackles to save a game. Unpredictable talent. Great year Didley.

JAKE QUINLIVAN (Front Row)

Bob has all the potential. He can hit hard, tackling the big boppers head on. He can break the line with hard weaving runs. I would love Bob to realise how much talent he has got. With little more self belief and confidence he has no doubt the game to dominate in the future. One of the team’s characters often having the crowd cheer as Bob’s flowing locks take another hit up. Well Done Bob.

KYE ROBSON (Hooker/Second Row)

Determination best describes this little guy. Kye only knows one way to play and that’s 100 miles an hour. The team’s wild thing. Strong runner and the harder the game gets the

better he plays. I moved Kye out wider towards seasons end. There he was just as

affective aggressive in defence and powerful in attack. Mr consistent each week. Stand out season. Amazing year Robbo.

LUKE WALLACE (Centre)

Cool hand Luke had without doubt his most complete year. He is a real game breaker. Luke was a try scoring machine this year scoring 17 tries and scoring over 100 tries in his short career which as a 9 year old is a great achievement. Moving from fullback to the centres saw his involvement grow and show that he is the complete player. His defence this year was amazing making many try saving tackles both ball and all and in cover. I cannot wait to see what Luke will bring in 2014. Top work Cool Hand.

9B – Finalists

Best and Fairest: Ben METCALF

Best and Fairest Runner-Up: Lachlan STANTON Encouragement Award: Jy GARVEY

Most Improved Award: Riley NEWTON

We had no idea what to expect in our first year of coaching but by the end of the year had thoroughly enjoyed it. The merging of two teams, combined with a large squad of 17, proved to be interesting to say the least. The talent was definitely there, the challenge was to get that talent to play well as a team and have fun along the way.

We reluctantly started off in C grade, but showed we were a B grade team after beating a couple of teams by 50 points.

Overall, our season was very successful and exciting, with the boys playing enthusiastic and determined football right up until the end of our season which saw us play in the Semi Finals.

Our hi-light of the year was beating Como at Como. Not only did we beat them, but we smashed them 22-4. Our defence that day showed what we can do it if we can gain more consistency in our game.

Our semi final the following week against Como was a good example of that. They played us like we played them the week before. But seeing the boys’ smiles on their faces when we played semi final football this year allowed us to reflect on what coaching is all about. Thanks to our trainer Mick and our manager Michelle. Your help and assistance throughout the year was invaluable.

Also thanks to our Sponsor, Sparkle Pools & Spas, your financial assistance to the club eases the costs of football to all of us.

Finally, to the 17 boys that made coaching this year an extremely enriching experience for both of us, well done on a fantastic season and we hope to see you all back for an even more exciting and enjoyable 2014.

Well done boys. David & John

JETT HARDY

Jett has no fear on the football field. He is very quick off the mark and his fearless defence and hard ball running resulted in big hits and some long range tries. Great work Jett.

BEN METCALFE

Ben is a naturally aggressive player. His size and speed saw him score some great tries throughout the year. He loves his footy and always had a smile on his face whether we

won or lost. He tackles hard and runs even harder. He has the skills, ability and size to

play in any position on the field. Well done Ben.

NICK FREEMAN

Pound for pound one of the strongest and most effective tacklers in our team. His front on defence throughout the year brought down many a player much bigger than him, and he

did it with ease. A great kid and a pleasure to have in our team. Top work Nick.

FLETCHER JOHNSTON

One of the quietest boy’s in the team, but one of our best tacklers. Fletcher gave everything to the team whether it was at training or in a game. His defence out wide saw him make some great try saving tackles. A pleasure to have in our team. Great work Fletch.

JOEL FRY

Joel is a player who is extremely consistent every week. Turns up to training with a smile, and gives his best on game day. Played front row most of the year and was damaging in attack but even more determined in defence. An asset to any team. Well done Joel.

KALLEN DRIES

Kallen is very quick off the mark and his swerving running style resulted in some long range tries. He worked very hard on his kicking this year and it showed towards the back

end of the year when goals were the difference between teams winning or losing. Top year

Kallen.

JACOB GUNN

Played hooker all year and was one of our top two goal kickers. He scored some sneaky tries from dummy half and his confidence and defence improved as the year went on after

getting knocked out in our first game. Good work Jacob.

JY GARVEY

Jy doesn’t say it, he just does it. Jy has a natural ability to play in every position on the field. His courage in defence saw him tackle players much larger than him with ease,

whilst his determination with the ball in attack was invaluable to our team. Well done.

JOEL SMITH

Joels first year of football and his confidence developed as the year went on. Always willing to listen and gave 100% on the field. Will improve with more football under his belt.

Well done Joel.

JUSTIN LETTON

Justin had a great year. His leg speed improved as the year went on and the way he runs the ball makes it very hard for the opposition to tackle him. His line breaks were outstanding for our team in getting us on the front foot early in our sets and saw him score some well deserved tries. Justin learned ‘straight and hard’ was the best way of going forward. Bigger things are yet to come for him. Congratulations Justin on a great year.

JAYDAN KEPU

Jaydan is a real team player. Every team needs a Jaydan. He is a good leader and speaks with actions on the field. He showed everyone how strong he is by throwing opponents off

him regularly. A strong, fast ball runner that could frustrate opposing teams with his size

and skills. Great year Jaydan.

CHRISTOPHER BOYD-LARNACH

Chris’ first year of football after coming from Rugby Union. His determination on the field saw him have a very solid year. Always had a smile on his face, but when he ran onto the

field he put his game face on. Made some bruising tackles and scored a fantastic try

against St Pats. Great work Chris.

KAYDN JUDD

We always knew when Kaydn was on the field. He was always vocal in defence and a pleasure to have in our team. Kaydn’s hard and straight ball running had opposing teams

worried and resulted in some well deserved tries. A big team contributor every week. Well

done Kaydn.

RILEY NEWTON

Riley was our most improved player this year. He lacked confidence at the start of the year, but when he found that confidence there was no stopping him. His bruising defence

put many opposing players on their back. The hi-light of my year was seeing him grow with

confidence in attack and start to realise his potential. Well done Riley.

RORY CARTWRIGHT

Rory was always one of the first up in defence. Always listened attentively at training and gave 100% on the field. He annoyed opposing teams with his enthusiastic defence and

made a fantastic try saving tackle against Como. Well done Rory.

LACHLAN STANTON

Speed to burn. Lachlan would regularly have opposing players grabbing at thin air with his blinding speed. He scored an unbelievable try at Anzac against Aquinas that I still say to this day that he changed direction mid air three times. An asset to any team. Well done Lachlan.

10A – Finalists

Best and Fairest: Eli FERGUSON

Best and Fairest Runner-Up: Logan McKINLAY Encouragement Award: Corey BURLING

Most Improved Award: Tyler COLDWELL

I’d like to start off by congratulating Scott and the 10B’s, Noakesy and the 11B’s and Paul Williams in the under 8’s on their premiership victories. Great job to you and all the boys. Nice to see some trophy’s coming back to Anzac’s cabinet!

Well this was the season that could have been, or shouldn’t have been. Before the season even kicked off we had Noakesy with a broken elbow season ending, Kobie with a broken neck, season ending and mid-way through the season Ryan suffered a broken foot. To say we did well under those and other circumstances is an understatement. Mid way through the first round we found ourselves sitting in an unfamiliar position of second last. We did some early calculations and thought there was no way of making it to the semis. Injuries aside we battled on regardless. Some positional adjustments were made and we taught the boys structure and a game plan, which for the most, gave them better direction. These changes put the boys back in the winner’s circle and climbing back up the table. It took to the final round to finally have our full squad available with Kobie and Eli sick Noakesy put on the jersey for the first time. We were ready to play. We needed to win this final game against DeLa2 to have any chance of making the finals. At half time 6 all wasn’t looking good. To the boys credit as with the back end of the season they dug deep and turned the 6all half time score into 26 – 6 victory. This win managed to scrape us into the semi finals by points for and against. We went on to win the minor semi-final against Gymea with a gutsy performance however were stopped in the final by the ultimate Premiers St Josephs. I’m very proud of the boy’s efforts this year as they all put in at training and game day

week in and week out which showed me tremendous improvement in each and every one of them. It has been a pleasure being involved with this group of young men this year, not only watching them grow as footballers, but as mates. I would like to thank all of the parents who have supported not only the boys, but they have shown great support for me throughout what has been tough year. I would also like to thank Paul and Ange for their help and support during the year. And a special mention to the Fatman and Wilson for their assistance at training and on game day.

Thanks everyone again for a great rewarding year and hope to see all of you back in Dragons colours in 2014.

Cheers Fergo.

BRAYDEN ANDREWS

Braydo had another solid consistent year, but what really stood out was his improvement in defence. His game has definitely lifted and one of his greatest improvements was

reading the game. He knew when to come in and help out which saved many a try

throughout the season. Braydo has one of the best passing games in the team and with more confidence and involvement Braydo will no doubt continue to improve and become a great little footballer.

RYAN ASTBURY

You can’t coach speed and the flash has plenty to burn. There isn’t a better site then Ryano at full flight with 11 Gymea Gorillas giving chase (with no hope of catching him).

Ryan was consistent each week and got us out of trouble in our own end on more than

one occasion. The team has come to rely on Ryano’s speed as his greatest strength and together he and Eli formed one a great combination that has put many points on the board.

COREY BURLING

Corey was a stand out in the pre season trials who showed as the season progressed he could mix it with the best of the shire. Corey came from the C grade and only in his second year of league showed what a talent he is. With raw passion and speed Corey was not only a handful for the opposition in attack, he also possesses a strong defensive game which also upset the opposing team on many occasion. These attributes has earned Corey the Encouragement award this year and I believe he is a player of the future for the Dragons.

TYLER COLDWELL

Another inclusion to the A grade squad from the B grade. Tyler was one of most consistent players all year. When the muscle was required he was there and stood up to the

opposition no matter what size they were. Tyler possesses an excellent front on defensive

style which more often than not saw the opposing number being driven back towards their try line. Tyler was by far in my opinion the most improved player in our team. A bit of leg speed and drive in defence will make Tyler one of the best forwards in our grade. I look forward to watching Tyler training hard and growing into an even better footballer.

COOPER DUFFY

Cooper gave his best each week and showed on many occasions what a team player he was. Made good choices and won us several games from his smart dummy half work.

Cooper is a solid trainer who would more often than not would win all the drills. Coopers

natural competitiveness and will to win is one of his strongest assets and often this attribute lifted the team when needed. Cooper never gives up and is always trying new things to challenge himself and help his mates.

ELI FERGUSON

Eli really stepped up in leadership role this year. Most games he played like a front rower with the frame of a half. His defence was always solid and never let the team down. A great kicking game and smart on field play knowing when to run pass or kick. Eli was the most consistent player this year and earned the best and fairest award. Formed a great combination in the halves when Kobie came back from injury. Eli Scored a great solo try in

his 100th game and collapsed shortly after due to illness. Big heart and great determination, Eli never gives anything less than 110%, never gives up and led by

example.

CYNAN GREY

Safe at the back and solid in the middle. That’s what Cynan brought to the team this year. Always there for his mates and the team. Cynan was one of our best trainers who took that attitude onto the field each week. Towards the end of the season Cynan made a positional change from fullback to 5/8 and this move saw him set up the try of the season for little legs. Cynan also made the milestone of 100 games for the Dragons this year congratulations mate! I hope you play 100 more.

LOGAN McKINLAY

Buffy balls lifted to a new level this year and when the going got tough Buffy got going. He showed a passion this year that was infections amongst the boys and was one of the stand outs on a weekly basis. This consistency earned him the best and fairest runner up. An asset to the team and a nightmare to the opposition. I can only see Buffy getting better as he develops his skills and strength. His enthusiasm combined with his desire and drive makes him a player to watch and an integral part of the team.

COOPER NOAKES

Noakesy came back to the A grade this year only to suffer a badly broken elbow before a whistle was blown. Losing your halfback prior to the season commencing is a tough thing and caused a bit of re thinking. To Coops credit he hung in and was committed to the team always coming to training and to the games supporting his team mates. It was the last game of the season where he was cleared to play and he didn’t let us down. Played one awesome game and got out of doing the nudie run by scoring a meat pie late in the second half. He showed that a broken elbow didn’t hamper his defence or passing game in an important position. I predict a bigger and better season for Coops in 2014.

TY PARKES

Little legs the super sub. For some reason Ty wanted to start from the bench, and funnily enough he played better when he did. With great low down defence and some barnstorming runs on his day Ty was a handful for the opposition. He scored a spectacular try of a precision kick from Cynan Michael Clarke would have been impressed by. Confidence in himself and his abilities will only make Ty a better footballer and asset to this group of boys. Always reliable but lacking in confidence. Believe you can and you will.

CAMERON STEPHEN

On his day Cam was one of the best on the park. Great wide running and solid defence. Cameron is a naturally gifted sportsman who is one of the reliable players in the team.

Cameron is a pleasure to coach and is very well liked by his team mates. Cam’s good

nature and pleasant manners are an asset to our team.

TOM STROVER

This was Toms first year of League from soccer and he was thrown right into the deep end. Tom has an uncanny knack of being in the wrong place at the right time, and due to

this skill or good fortune he came up with some cracker tries. Tom’s soccer skills were a

big asset to our team, with a huge kick off and accurate goal kicking. With some work on positional play and defence, I can’t wait to see what next year brings for Tom.

SAMSON VATUVEI

My main man in the engine room. Sam on his day tore teams apart single hand idly. When he wound up onto the ball at pace he was an awesome sight to watch and I was glad to sit on the bench and watch rather than have to tackle him. Sam again needs to be confident in his abilities and he will consistently be a devastating player. His presence on the field breeds confidence amongst his team mates knowing he is on their side. A definite A grader with so much potential. I’m still waiting for the day when he realises it himself.

KOBIE WILSON

Outside of football - Kobie suffered a life altering injury during the pre season trials which was a compressed fracture of his vertebrae. We thought the worst, but you can’t tell a kid like him NO. Kobie missed eight games and we did miss him. His presence in the team lifted the boys and his determination and will to win rubbed off on the team. From his return saw a change in the team and the commencement of the winning streak ultimately taking us into the finals. A no nonsense kid who lets his footy do the talking. Pleasure to coach and a pleasure to watch. Kobie doesn’t say much and doesn’t need to, his greatest asset is his heart and his will to win - this makes him one of the most valuable players in the team. Kobie never gives up and never backs down.

10B – Minor Premiers and Premiers

Best and Fairest: Luke BISHOP

Best and Fairest Runner-Up: Brynn MAGSON Encouragement Award: Kyle BROTHERTON

Most Improved Award: Steve COOKE

What a year 2013 proved to be for the U10B’s. I didn’t think this year could better last year’s Grand Final effort but I was wrong. Starting the year with a couple of new faces to the team, our first game started a little shaky and we only just beat Gymea on the bell. A few training sessions to bond the boys together and off we went. Unbeaten the whole season except for the last game which saw us beaten by Aquinas 24 - 18! We went into the semi final with 2 players out injured and half the team sick with the bug and again were beaten by Aquinas 26 – 0. In hindsight, this probably wasn’t a bad thing. It gave the boys a reality check and gave Aquinas a false sense of security. However I honestly didn’t think the boys would pull it together for the final against Yarrawarrah after that flogging but they proved me wrong. What a gutsy group of boys I had. They played football right from the start and gave the tigers a hiding, beating them convincingly. Grand Final day came and this coach didn’t sleep. I knew the boys could do it, but did they? Up against their nemesis Aquinas, they had a point to prove. Aquinas clearly thought they were going to give us a hiding and the boys again proved why they were Minor Premiers. They played like a team! Winning 12 -0! They played a very hard game leaving nothing on the field. To all my boys, Congratulations you deserved the Grand Final win this year, and I am so proud of each and every one of you. I look forward to hopefully seeing you all again next year. To my manager Simone, Captain! Without you, nothing would have been organised. Rosters, social events, meeting Roosters players, 321 and messaging everyone each week. Thankyou! To my trainers Steve and Tony! Thanks for giving up your time for training each week. Your insightful knowledge of the game helped teach the boys skills they needed for this year and for years to come. Without you both, I don’t think the season would have

been as successful as it turned out to be. Lastly to big Matty Spencer from 10C’s who was called up to help us in the Final and Grand Final due to Brad being out injured. Matt had fantastic games in both finals. Making 2 huge breaks in the Grand Final, one of them leading to a try being scored off the next play! You deserve the glory along with my boys. Thankyou

Congratulations to you all for 2013, you made an old coach extremely proud you team of champions.

KYLE BROTHERTON (Centre/Fullback)

A new recruit from soccer this year! Kyle had an outstanding season. Speed to burn, and a fantastic step, once he had some space there was no stopping him. During the second half of the season, Kyle was marked quite heavily but showed determination as well as skill to not let that stop him scoring some fantastic tries. Not only talented but a lovely young man, I look forward to hopefully seeing you next year.

AARON HANLON (Wing/Fullback/Hooker)

In his 4th year of footy, not blessed with speed but has the safest hands on the field. I could always count on him under the high ball. In the second half of the season he not only took

whatever was dished out to him on the field but started stepping and making quite a few

yards with each run. Unfortunately Aaron was injured leading into the semis and did not play as big a part as he would have. But everything he did throughout the year helped the team get to the Grand Final. Love you mate!

BRYNN MAGSON (Half Back/First Receiver)

Brynn came to us from A grade this year. Having just watched the video of the Grand Final, I got an insight into how much Brynn does for the team on the field. His kicking

game is without doubt one of the best in the 10’s. He is also a good captain who leads by

example on the field, in attack and defense with not many getting past Brynn. He thoroughly deserves Runner up Best & Fairest for his efforts this year. Well done Brynn.

TOM SHEPHERD (Wing)

Tom was another one of the quiet achievers this year. A great kid who doesn’t say much and lets his game do the talking. Early on in the year Tom made some good tackle busting runs and saved many a certain try on the wing. A great teammate to the boys and a concientius, hardworking trainer. Well done Tom.

LUKE DAVOREN (Forward)

Big Luke Davo really stepped up again this year during the finals. Scoring a vital try in the Grand Final. Luke just needs to remember that he has size on his side and can bust through any line when he puts his mind to it. When given space Luke always runs with a huge stride and has the best fend on the team. Another good year Luke you can only get better.

ZANE RYAN (Hooker/Centre)

I said it last year and I will say it again this year. There is no tougher on the field than little Zano. I admire this kid! All guts! Willing to put his body on the line and take on the biggest kid in the opposition to make sure they do not score a try. The final against Yarrawarrah when they were in for a certain try and out of nowhere came little Zano who tackled this kid on the line and made sure he was pushed into touch. This was the turning point of the game and I knew Zano would carry us through. With a great game in Hooker for both the Final & Grand Final! An absolute pleasure to coach!

STEVE COOKE (Second Row)

Cookie is one of our quiet achievers. A worker and a toiler in defence, he has become, this year, a valuable member of our team and very deserving of Most Improved. A damaging

player with some brilliant runs of the ball with some great try saving tackles. One tackle

that comes to mind is against Aquinas at Blaxland where Steve pulled off an absolute pearler of a tackle that prevented Aquinas scoring. Always listening at training and willing to learn! Thanks for all your efforts this year Steve. You can only get better.

RYAN BARDEN (5/8th)

Bardo started the year quietly. And I wondered what had happened after such a dominating year last year. However it clicked half way through this year and Bardo was

back. That beautiful passing game and the best side step in the team. When Bardo is on

his game, the team usually responded by lifting and playing well. There is no better site as a coach than sitting on the sideline and watching him step two or three players and take off down the sideline for a try. That was Bardo. Another great year mate. You are going places.

LUKE BISHOP (Forward)

Luke this year has gone from strength to strength. And thoroughly deserves Best & Fairest this year. Always putting his body on the line and never one to shy away from the hard stuff in the middle of the ruck! Many a time this kid came off injured because the opposition knew he was the one to target. However that never stopped him and he always went back out there, pink head gear and all, and just kept going. Another kid who is one to watch! Great season Luke. Can’t wait to see you get even better next year.

BRAD BISHOP (Forward)

Big Braaaaaaddddd. I love this kid. This sums up Brad. Our trial game against St Joeys who went on to win the A grade Grand Final. They played hard and at half time Brad came up to me and in his own way said “Scott, why do they keep pushing our heads down into the ground” That is our Brad. Don’t let his size fool you, a big softy at heart but always putting in the hard stuff and never leaving anything out on that field. We really missed Brad in the last couple of games due to injury, but his efforts like Aaron during the year helped us get to the Grand Final. A great season Brad and I look forward to seeing you out on that field next year. Fitter than ever!

JOSH GREEN (Hooker/Second Row)

A tough uncompromising player, who leaves nothing on the field and always gives 100%. He is always ready to mix it up in the middle with some hard defence. He is by far the best defender at marker on the team. Always making two to three tackles in a row. Josh loves giving the opposition a bit of stick and actually thrives off it when they respond. Great year Josh.

MAX PETTIT (Forward/Centre)

A gentle giant, who like Luke Davo needs to remember he has size on his side and could bust through any defensive line if he used that size correctly. During the finals Max really

stepped up and pulled off some excellent tackling. His drop outs always travel well past half way and Max very rarely missed conversions. Another good year Max.

JAKE BONSER (Fullback/Wing)

Jake had one of his quieter years this year. However showed his potential against Yarrawarrah in the Final! He has the potential to be damaging in both attack and defence. He can be as tough as they come. When Jake decided to run straight, he broke the line more often than not and made some great metres. Coping a few head highs along the way but always getting up and never showing he was hurt. Hopefully see you next year Jake.

DOM NEWELL (Fullback/5/8th)

Coming back after a 1 year stint at soccer, Dom picked up from where he left off. Always listening and taking everything in at training. Dom is a pleasure to coach. On the field

never lets his team down. Dom started off at fullback this year with a good safe set of hands at the back however later on in the year Dom moved to 5/8th for the finals and found his feet. Setting up his outside backs for some fantastic tries. Welcome back Dom, hope you enjoyed your year.

10C – Finalists

Best and Fairest: Matthew SPENCER

Best and Fairest Runner-Up: Jordan LITCHFIELD Encouragement Award: Owen WILLIAMS

Most Improved Award: Samuel HUGHES

There is nothing else better than watching a good game of footy….especially when you get to sit right there on the sideline. That’s one of the simple things that make being a coach of these kids and this club so special.

So onto 2013….well we started this year with another team making up a few key positions than 2012, along with that we also welcomed 5 kids who were playing this great game for their first season. A new halfback, 5/8, dummy half and fullback took a bit of patience for all the kids to get used too along with the coach, there was no doubt that like all good things we started slow but built well into the season. All these kids where there to learn, be competitive and most importantly have a good time. Personally I got a lot out of watching this team improve week to week together and I hope that in years to come they remember what they achieved this year both personally and as a group of footy mates. Ultimately our toughest and most competitive games came against Como this season, we won all 3 of by 2 points but any of those games could’ve gone the other way without the wall of defence that this team put forward. I am one of those suckers who prefers to see great tackles and hard yards won over flashy backline movements so these games to me where the highlight of our season. Even though we made it through to the finals we didn’t save our best game for the Aquina’s in the first week and we were knocked out, however,

there where 15 kids there that day that I couldn’t of been prouder of and I can’t wait to see them run out again next year.

Finally I would like to sincerely thank the effort and the work done behind the scenes by my Manager Tric Davidson, the dedication and support shown to the kids by the trainer Danny Litchfield, the work done by the extras Snowy, Darren and Mick towards the end of the year, the parents who where a great bunch to be around and most importantly you kids….great season boys and girl……………….

GO YOU MIGHTY ENGADINE DRAGONS

Patto – Coach 10c’s

MATTHEW SPENCER (Front Row)

Started the year in the 2nd Row as we tried to get him a bit more space to take advantage of his natural step and speed on the edges. It didn’t take long for him to ask to get put back into the middle which made my job easy because I was thinking the same thing. Always in the game even when you think he isn’t (he generally sees something you don’t). A natural leader amongst the team which rubs off not in words but in his great attitude and sportsmanship towards his teammates and opposition.

JORDAN LITCHFIELD (Fullback)

First year in the position of fullback and didn’t take long to make it his own. Carried on his form from 2012 with some ruthless tackling at the back and saved a lot of tries by never giving up. Had a couple of plays designed to get him in space or over the line during the season…..the “bling” named after him got him over for 3 in a row against Menai and his grubber/chase into the corner vs. Gymea (which he pulled off after training the play by himself during the weeks whilst the other parents were talking) were specials.

SAMUEL HUGHES (2nd Row)

Mate, what a year. After watching this kid for the last 4 years he really took his game to the next level in 2013 with solid tackling and great line running on the edges. Made the 2nd row his own and watching his improvement was one of the biggest highlights of the year.

OWEN WILLIAMS (5/8)

New into this position this season after years of bashing it straight up the middle. As his dad I couldn’t have asked more from him. He played a leading role in steering the team around the park and keeping them going forward. We did miss his trademark runs with 3 to 4 kids hanging off his back until the later part of the season when we got some ball coming back to him from the ruck.

TOBY SULTANA (Centre)

You can tell that this kid really loves his footy as he is always right in the thick of it. Never shies away from doing the hard stuff and is always there to grind out a few hard meters up the middle when his team needs it….one tough footy player!! He also has some great footwork right on the ad line which in years to come is going to see him grow into a great centre in my eyes. Along with that some great defence every time he gets himself into marker.

CAMERON GARDINER (Wing)

I said it last year and the same goes for 2013….this kid has got plenty of speed which we got to see a few times this year. He has a great ability to get himself where he is needed when he is in the game. One of our smallest kids but one of the kids with the biggest hearts. Told me a few times during the year who was the man of the match after a game and he never said his own name. Great sport.

RUBEN EVANS (Centre)

First year of footy and was a very welcome addition to this team. Very solid all year in defence and with the ball in his hands. He is one of those kids that can go unnoticed by some because he is doing all of the little things right whilst all the big plays are either coming off or going the wrong way. It’s the little things that happen out on the field which make the difference

MITCHELL GEORGE (Hooker)

The rule changes at the start of the year allowing kids to have a run without having to turn over the ball suited this kid more than ever other. He was a strong runner in the forwards last year but along with the rule changes, his passing and ability to have a scoot there was no better position for Mitch this year and to his credit he took full advantage of his new role in the team…. Three 3 try performances and kept our forwards straight all year.

KADE MIDDLETON (Half)

Kade’s first year in footy and after a few weeks we had settled on our halfback. Formed a great Combination in the middle and as the year went on started to learn when to run out of the ruck and started to cause a few headaches for the defensive line. Will only get bet better next year as he has the basics under control and time spent on the paddock will make him a natural leader on the field.

MATILDA WILSON (Front Row)

Got to say at the start of the year the boys faces looked amused when Matilda showed up to training, however after about 10 minutes they where all saying “she can tackle” after that there were no amused faces except from the opposition who found out the hard way. Every time they ran in her direction. Matilda provided the best saying of the year when asked if she was ok play.”I’m a bit sore but I ain’t no princess”.

ZAC MORRELL (2nd Row)

The one kid who I relied on more than any other throughout this season to play in a lot of different positions throughout the year. To give you an idea he played in every single position except for fullback in 2013 and he played them all well. It got that bad towards the end of the season that he started saying to me “where am I playing today”? My problem as a coach was that he always did his job with no complaints and that’s what makes him such a good kid to have in the team.

KYLE EBDON ( 2ND Row)

A kid who is gonna be hard to handle once he realises his full potential. He is an extremely strong runner of the footy and a kid who gave me one of the proudest moments of 2013….not that it had much to do with me but the tackles he pulled off vs. Como at Scylla bought the bench to life. Showed plenty of courage to keep giving back to the team throughout the year whenever his team needed it.

AIDEN WILSON (Front Row)

Another new player to footy this year and a welcome one at that. When this kid is ready to play there is not too many defensive lines that are going to stop him. Once he realised that it was easier to run over the top and leave the flashy stuff to the backs he was almost unstoppable. Great first year and I hope he is back for next year as he is only going to get better

ALEC JEFFRIES (Wing)

Again new to footy and another welcome member of the team. Blistering pace which we unfortunately didn’t see enough of only because we didn’t get the ball out wide on enough occasions. Understood his position and played his part in the team all year. Great tackle from behind in the finals on a run away winger down the sideline when his team needed something special to stop the flow.

JULES DIXON ( 2nd Row)

Having been around Jules for a few years now I was excited to see him in our team again this year. He brings that element of fun to everything that all the kids enjoy and can either drive the coach and the trainers mad or they can learn to enjoy it, every team needs a kid like this. It was bad luck Jules only got to play a couple of games this year for us due to an injury and we certainly missed him at training and out on the paddock however the rumour mill tells me that he had a great time over in Europe recovering.

11A - Undefeated Minor Premiers and Runners Up

Best and Fairest: Blake HOSKING

Best and Fairest Runner-Up: Ethan PASTOR Encouragement Award: Dane COURTNEY Most Improved Award: Adam ARKLEY

Well, this year we had 53, 11year old boys register and trial. Out of all those boys we ended up with 12 dedicated little men.

The coaching staff set themselves and the boy goals. To develop as individual footballers and strengthen as a team and that’s what this team of committed boys did.

From Week 3 things got tough! With broken bones and several illness. This team did strengthen and it was amazing to watch a group of friends pull together. Having to play short, sometimes out of position, with injuries and at time with borrowed players. So, to end up Undefended Minor Premiers was a courageous effort. Let’s hope next year we can make that final step.

We would also like to make special mention to Al Pastor who has done a sensational job for a number of years. He’s dedication to make the team run as smoothly as possible and keep everyone informed at all times.

Thanks heaps Al

Thank you boys for an enjoyable year. Mitch, Dean and Ty

STEVEN “Greeny” GREEN

Greeny started the season off at hooker and then moved out into the centres where his defence was a real highlight. His ability to bring down bigger boys time and again along

with his ball playing outwide was a tremendous asset to our team. Well done Steven.

BLAKE HOSKING

This was Blake’s breakthrough season. With his strong running game and aggressive defence, Blake was among this age groups most feared forwards. Consistantly one our top performers every week, Blake was always a handful for the opposition leaving defenders in his wake. Pulling off some memorable hits in defence, Blake was rewarded for his first class efforts with this years Best & Fairest award. Great stuff Blake.

DANE COURTNEY

Dane is our Mr Versatile. Can play anywhere but with the rule changes this year was moved to hooker, where his speed and agility were used to great effect. Scoring 17 tries and winning us many a game, Dane proved virtually unstoppable within a couple of metres from the opposition line. Dane was also our top point scorer and as a result picked up the teams coaches award. Well done Dane.

HARRY GOLDSMITH

Harry is another player that can play virtually anywhere in the backline. Harry was moved from 2nd to 1st receiver midway through the year and guided the team around the park superbly. Scored several tries through sheer speed and acceleration, Harry consistently tested the opposition defences and we look forward to watching his continued development. Well done Harry.

JOSH SMITH

Pound for pound, one of our toughest. Not big in stature, but big in heart. Injured mid season and when he returned, made a great fist of 2nd receiver, organising our backline plays. A tough defender, who like Greeny, always brought down boys much bigger. Josh was injured 5 minutes into the Grand Final and we sorely missed his competitiveness and organisation. Top effort Josh.

JAKE HUNTER

Jake was one of our most improved players. Did a great job on the left wing in attack and defence, where his big runs got us out of trouble on a number of occasions. Still needs to

get a little more involved but always comes to training and games with the right attitude.

Onya Jake.

ETHAN PASTOR

Plays a great forwards game. Powerful runner and strong defender, Ethan continually took the game to the opposition. Ethan has a great work rate and is always looking to improve

his game. Consistantly up near the top of the tackle count, he is most deserving of our

teams Best and Fairest Runner up award. Keep up the good work Ethan.

HEATH LUCK

A bit of a slow start to the year for Heath due to health issues, but by mid- year, was back to his destructive best. One half of the best front row combination in the competition. Aggressive with a no holds barred attitude and surprising speed for a big guy. Heath continues to improve every year. A pleasure to coach. Well done Heath.

ADAM ARKLEY

Adams first year with the Mighty Dragons and what a year it was. The other half of our formidable front row. Adam was continually a handful for the opposition. As the season

progressed, so did Adams confidence and by the end was really hitting his straps. Big and

strong, Adam has the ability to play before and after the line. With a view to increasing his fitness levels, Adam has the potential to become the dominant front rower of his age group and was deserving of our most improved award. Good work Adam.

BRAD SIMPSON

Another player in his first year with Dragons. A boy that is blessed with natural speed and footwork, but also has a steely determination in everything he does. Started the season off

on the wing and centre, but mid year found himself at fullback. Made the transition with

ease and scored several length of the field tries, most notably against his former team Bosco, where he scored straight off the kick-off. Great year Brad.

OLIVER “Olly” WILLIAMS

‘Olly” came up to A grade this year on the back of a stellar season in the B’s last year where he was the standout performer of the competition. A real confidence player and was starting to hit his straps as a strong running centre or winger, when he broke his wrist missing the last few games of the year only making it back for the Grand Final. We really missed his aggression and strike power late season. Olly has a great attitude and when injured turned up to training and games to support the boys and is a real team man. Well done Olly.

SAMUEL HEALEY

Another great year from Sam. A player with a huge work rate in both attack and defence, Sam is always looking at ways to improve his game. Played mainly in the backrow

however at some stages throughout the year we needed him to play second receiver at

short notice where he adapted easily. Has a good passing and kicking game and hits a gap well. Another player that was consistently among our top performers every week. Great stuff Sam.

11B – Premiers

Best and Fairest: Harrison NOAKES

Best and Fairest Runner-Up: Jayden LEPLAW Encouragement Award: Maximus O’SHEA Most Improved Award: Kobi PAYNTER

Well, what more can we say? PREMIERS 2013. Well done boys you truly deserved it. Won on your defense. From where you were at the start of the season and how you developed was great to be a part of.

Dropped down from A grade after round three, with three teams already on six points, it was always going to be tough just to make the semis.

Such was the evenness of the competition, with only one loss and a draw to go with our

many wins, it wasn't till the last rounds that we made our way into forth position. And still it came down to a mathematical conundrum that allowed us to take our place in the playoffs when we all thought we had missed out.

The way the boys all pulled together to play as a team pleased the coaching staff and surely made all parents very proud. Special mention of the Final, when the boys were down 12 nil in the 2nd half, they didn't give up. To everyone's surprise they dug deep and pulled off a gutsy 18-12 win to advance to the Grand Final. From this moment we knew they could take out the big one. The rest is history.

With all players available every single one of you stood up and contributed an important part for their team mates. A 6 nil win, trophy and a premiership jacket.

Some of you may be asked to play in the A's in years to come. Remember to enjoy your footy, stick with it and you'll all play together again in the future.

Congratulations and thanks for the year boys. Noakesy and Lobes.

SHANNON ADAM

Shannon isn't one of our biggest kids but can make stacks of meters running due to his lethal side step. Combined with his speed, Shannon is very hard to catch. Shannon knows his position of wing well, drops back for the kicks and with a great pair of hands is very reliable on the kick returns. Showed some great defense in the grand final too. Well done Shannon.

ADAM CLAREY

Adam was one of our second rowers. A great impact player with plenty of size and speed. Adam makes big yards running wide of the ruck, hitting good holes and on many

occasions getting us out of trouble. Always putting his hand up for a run. One of the big

improvers this year, especially in defense. Adam will only get better. One to watch in the future. Great effort Adam.

TYLER CUSSEN

Tyler is one of the strongest front rowers in the comp. Very hard to stop, often taking four or five opponents to stop him and sometimes they are still unable to get him on the ground. Gives his all in defense, using his size to drop his opposition, intimidating them to think twice about running at him. Reliable kicking game both goal and general play. Also scoring his first ever try. Top stuff Tyler.

HAMISH JACKA

One of three players in the team to come down from the A's. I think this experience and the skills he developed last year gave him more confidence in his playing ability. Playing

front row, Hamish always put his hand up to do the hit ups through the middle. Being hard

to bring down with his strong running, this tired the opposition, paving the way for the team to capitalise. A big improver in his defense too. Well done Hamish.

TYRAN KEPU

Tyran must have played in every position in the team throughout this year. Not because we didn't know where to play him, but due to plenty of his natural talent he has the skills to play anywhere, would do so without fuss and excel at doing so. An excellent runner who has great ball skills, is a solid defender and our go to man for kicking goals. Due to his all round ability, Ty also helped out the A's this year. Good work Ty.

JARED KIDD

Jared also came down from the A's to develop his skills and did so brilliantly. Playing mostly second row, Jared's defense improved out of sight, very rarely missing a tackle.

Knowing when to go low or "ball and all". A very strong and fast runner, often finding open

space, the opposition unable to catch him which resulted in many tries. Jared is also a great talker on the field which motivated the guys around him. Take a lot of confidence from your great season effort Jared.

JAYDEN LEPLAW

Jayden was best and fairest runner up this year, 2nd year running. This alone shows he has plenty of talent. Playing fullback his kick returns were outstanding. Fast and nippy, Jayden would often relieve much of the pressure off the team running out of our half. Jayden was also one of our highest try scorers. For a small guy, he is one of our hardest tacklers, always motivating his team mates with excellent try line defense. Well deserved Jayden.

LACHLAN MONROE

Lachie played most of the year on the wing and on occasions stepped into other positions. A solid defender, his stand out ability is his running. A very flaunt and evasive runner,

Lachie's kick returns and general play running often resulted by going through and around

a whole team, scoring some memorable tries. None better than his grand final try, the only one of the game. Well done Lachie.

HARRY NOAKES

Harry was our most consistent performer this year and a well deserved best and fairest award winner. A strong runner and tackler, Harry put himself in everything week in week out, seemingly without any regard for self welfare. None more evident than in our grand final. An inspirational effort that lifted all the boys. If Harry got hurt, Dad would say "harden up" and on he'd go. Always talking the boys up and motivating them. Excellent year Harry.

MAXIMUS O'SHEA

Max is a very reliable and consistent performer, earning him the encouragement award this year for an outstanding season. Our dummy half, Max's delivery of the ball to our first

receiver set a solid foundation to our set plays to go with his strong dummy half running.

Max's strength is his tackling, peaked at the right end of the season. Always first in and topping the tackle count most weeks. Showed his toughness playing the closing games with an arm injury. Nice work Max.

DANE PARSONS

Dane played in the centre position this year, a very enthusiastic runner who is never afraid to get in and take a hit up to help out the forwards. Often founding space out wide off a

back line movement. Dane is also one of the teams best defenders with a great tackling

technique. Not many attackers broke his defense which is a credit to the effort he puts in. Dane would always do what was asked of him without any hesitation. A pleasure to coach, thanks Dane.

KOBI PAYNTER

Kobi earned himself the most improved award this year and well deserved. The improvement shown from start to finish was satisfying to watch, both in attack and

defense. Kobi played most of the year in the centres. Always a good runner of the football,

his strength and confidence grew as the year went on. The biggest improvement came in his defense. Kobi has now developed into a confident tackler who uses his shoulder for some big driving tackles. Keep up the good work Kobi, nice effort.

BILLY SOLYO

Billy played first receiver this year and was also able to play any position in our back line. A good organiser and distributor of the football, often resulting in some fine moves from set

plays. Billy also has speed and a dummy pass which allowed him to get through the

defensive line, scoring some nice tries. Billy also possess a great tackling ability which is a big part of his game. Solid season Billy, well done.

11C

Best and Fairest: Samuel RUSSELL

Best and Fairest Runner-Up: Jake ZOPPI Encouragement Award: Griffin KENWORTHY

Most Improved award: Jesse CAMPBELL

What a great year from a great bunch of kids who enjoyed learning the game.

We had an ordinary start to the year with injuries, some of our boys new to the game and not knowing what we were doing.

After some training and effort we turned it around and just missed out on the finals. I know during the year, the other teams were keeping an eye on us, look out next year!

JESSE CAMPBELL

Huge improver, built up his confidence after injury, resulting in some amazing long distance tries. Well done Jesse!

LACHLAN “LOBSTER” RUSSELL

He can do it all, good sidestep and crunching front on tackler, scored some fantastic tries.

LACHLAN TING

What a site to see big T running through the opposition and scoring great tries. You will have a big year next year.

TYE SIMMS

My tough tackler, doesn’t care who he takes on, I love it. Keep enjoying your game, I do.

COREY ALFORD

What a pleasure to coach this guy, loves learning, great pass and strong D. Will come back bigger and better.

JAMES STEELE

Kept improving all year, showed us he can do it, with good tackling at times. Good on you James, keep doing your best

CALLUM VELLA

Always puts in the biggest effort, and has a smart footy brain. We need to teach the boys to go with you. Great year Callum.

SAM RUSSELL

Amazing effort for a first year, tough, no fear. Scored some great tries and stopped as many as well. Very proud of your effort.

JAKE ZOPPI

Another amazing effort for his first year. Can do it all, scored great tries, loves the game and will continue to improve, great D Jake.

RYAN PURCELL

Does a lot of work people don’t see, great passing, tackling and scored a few sneaky tries, keep on improving mate.

GRIFFIN KENWORTHY

Scored some amazing tries, what a site when he is moving. Griff saved a couple of games with great chases, did most of our kicking, well done Griffin.

AIDEN JAMES

Very good swerve and step, very important to the team as he can play everywhere, except prop (he would have a go!) keep improving, I expect a big 2014 from Aiden.

DAMON CAMERON

For his size, the biggest hitter in D. No fear and never let his opponent alone. So close to scoring this year, you will next year Damo.

ETHAN NANCE

Had a rough start to the year with injury, but I was very proud how you came back. Good positional player. Keep building the confidence Ethan.

Thank You!

Thankyou to the boys and a great bunch of parents for all your help, plus a huge thanks to our Manager Meg Kenworthy, who makes it easy for the rest of us.

Best and Fairest: Blake O’HARA

Best and Fairest Runner-Up: Matthew NAUDE Encouragement Award: Jayden DENNIS

Most Improved Award: Brodey STEVENS

What another great year for the team. All the boys should be very proud of what they achieved this year with everyone putting in a big effort every game.

Every game we played this year the team was always competitive with some fantastic wins

, 2 draws and when we did get beaten it was only ever by a small margin which was a true testament to how well the team played this year. With a few new faces plus a strong effort

from our usual suspects the new line up was going to give any team a tough time.

It was awesome to hear the positive support on the sidelines from our great bunch of parents. The team really thrived on the excitement & support from all the cheering throughout the year.

Thank you to Mark our trainer & Nathan our manager for your help throughout the year. There were many time this year when the team had no reserves and were short players but the team lifted every time and showed great team spirit and with a never give up attitude everyone should be very proud and their efforts. There was no other team in our comp that was tougher than our team this year.

Congratulations again to the whole team on a fantastic effort this year.

JOSHUA UPHAM

Showing why he was named co-captain this year Josh always leads from example. There’s no-one on the team that puts in a bigger effort than Josh.

With plenty of responsibility in making the calls on the field and getting the team organised

Josh could not have done a better job. Congratulations on another brilliant year.

BLAKE O’HARA

Every time Blake runs on the field our whole team lifted.

All the boys know how big an effort is put in by Blake and our team always felt confident with big Blake running the ball up hard and making some big tackles every game.

Even with some injuries in a few games Blake never complained and showed how tough

he really is this year.

Fantastic effort this year Blake……well done mate.

CAMERON MACRAE

Many times this year Cameron carved through the opposition with some brilliant side stepping runs. Breaking through tackles, making plenty of metres and scoring tries was Cameron’s trademark and he is a very important part of our team. You should be very proud of another great year Cam.

MATTHEW NAUDE – Again this year Matt showed the way to his team mates with his brilliant tackling style and fantastic runs down the field which on many occasions resulting in some exciting tries.

Matt played a huge role again this year in the team’s success and you should be really proud of your effort.

JAYDEN DENNIS

One of the team’s big improver’s this year you should be very proud of the effort you put in at both training and at the games.

Always putting your body on the line making some of the best tackles all year you showed your team mates how to defend.

Jayden’s hard running style was also a big part of the team’s success this year. Great work Jayden on an awesome year.

SAMUEL DICKEY

Another big year from Sam who was a real tackling machine out of the marker position. Never running out of gas and always trying hard Sam really improved again this year. Great to see a new addition to our goal kicking options with Sam making some important conversions throughout the year.

Well done Sam on a great year.

JACK CASSIDY

Always putting in a huge effort and never giving up. Jack is a great example to all his team mates to always give your best at both training and at the game. Running the ball up

with plenty of effort and busting through tackles we watched Jack make some great runs throughout the year.

With one of the best tackling techniques in the team Jack was a big asset for the team every week.

Welcome to the Dragons and congratulations on a fantastic first year.

LEE CHEADLE

Another great year from Lee.

Always putting in a big effort I saw some huge improvements again this year.

Running the ball up hard and breaking through tackles Lee made plenty of metres for the team again this year.

The biggest improvement was Lee’s defence this year stopping anyone who tried to take off down the wing and making some great tackles.

Well done on a fantastic year.

BRODEY STEVENS

There is no one else on the field that gets the team motivated like our co-captain Brodey. He thrives on guts and determination and many times puts his body on the line making

some huge tackles.

Having such a great understanding of the game and making the most of any opportunity especially scoring his trademark tries on the last tackle when we are close to the line. Brodey is a huge part the team’s success this year……congratulations mate.

NATHAN ALLEN

Our team’s new try scoring sensation Nathan had another great year.

I saw some big improvements with plenty of hard running and fending off tackles which was brilliant.

Great effort in defence, making some big tackles, rattling the opposition on many occasions this year.

TRAVIS GREEN

What an awesome fullback Travis is becoming. Always getting back into position and covering any breaks he saved plenty of tries again this year. I saw some massive improvements with all aspects of Travis’s game this year with running the ball back hard to the line making plenty of metres plus running in support creating a second phase which lead to a plenty of points for the team this year.

Brilliant effort again this year.

KAI GEORGE

What a fantastic year at the Dragons for Kai.

We watched Kai score his first try this year which was a brilliant achievement. One of the teams enforcers with not many that run as hard at the opposition.

Plenty of times we saw Kai break through the opposition defence and get the team rolling

down the field toward the try line. Congratulations and you should be very proud of another great year.

BEN STOCK

We saw Ben make some big metres up the field with some hard runs this year busting through plenty of opposition tackles. Great work doing some hard yards and making some big tackles throughout the year. Well done on your first year with the Dragons.

12A – Semi Finalists

Best and Fairest: Nelson GILMORE

Best and Fairest Runner-Up: Logan FLEMING Encouragement Award: Tyran CONNOR

Most Improved Award: Blake PATON

2013 Disappointing end, but a pretty good season over all. We finished 3rd and I was very happy with the way the Boys played and developed through out the year, but again so close to being so much better!!! We struggle with numbers at the start of the year with both the 12Bs 12As only having 15 and 13 players respectively. Then a couple of broken arms and our numbers dropped again. It wasn’t before round 10 did we have our full side

of 14 back on the park. So all in all finishing 3rd, wasn’t too bad.

Going into the semis against Aquinas we were all pretty confident, but then with an injury ridden 1st half we found ourselves running low on numbers again. Logan was the 1st to go after about 5 min and we lost him for the rest of the game. Then injuries to Jordon, Nelson, Jack, Caleb and Luke M who all struggled on for the rest of the game had us not at usual best. But it was an awesome effort by everyone involved and all though we were disappoint with the result it was with out doubt our gutsy game of the year. WELL DONE to everyone in the team including Jacob Barling from the 12Bs.

Thanks to John, Matt and Doug for all your help. To the parents, It was pleasure to coach these guys, you should be very proud of them in the way they are developing and the effort they displayed this year. Special mention to Sam Gurton who broke his arm at the start of the year and was unable to get back onto the field. Thanks for your team support throughout the year.

CAMERON ALEWOOD (Forward)

Glad to have you at the club this year Cam but what an unlucky start. Broken arm in our 2nd trail game which didn’t see you return till round 8. But what a debut, Man of the Match display in a 20 to 10 victory over Cronulla Caringbah. Cam has one of the longest kicking games I’ve seen in a boy his age, devastating runner and a solid defender. Cam only played half the season as a result of his injury but figure very strongly in our best and fairest points tally. Great effort with great tremendous courage shown in coming back from such a serious injury.

TYRAN CONNER (Winger/ Dummy Half/ Half)

TJ a player every team needs, my utility man who played in at half and dummy half when needed. TJ reading of the play from his wing position was great and his communication with his team mates on the field was sensational. TJ runs and defends well above his weight and has had an exceptional year. A great young man and very dependable on a footy field. Best game of the year was the semi when you took over at dummy half for nearly the whole game. Sensational effort. Great year. Well Done.

LUKE DICKSON (Winger)

Luke has turned out to be a very reliable footballer. A Strong runner of the ball and solid in defence. Luke is one of the biggest boys in the team and he used his size to gain himself a few tries this year. With more confidence and games under his belt he could easily move into the forward pack where it would be more suited to his style of play. Luke played all year on the wing as we were short on backs and filled that position with well. Well Done Mate.

LOGAN FLEMING (Dummy half)

Loges had a great year. He made Sydney East Rep School side which won the State cup in Dubbo and from all reports only just missed out of the State side. His efforts were just as good in our side where his dummy half play was perfect for our side forwarded momentum. He’s tackling game was exceptional for a Boy of his size and weight and score some great tries this year from dummy half. Thanks for the year loges Great effort Mate.

NELSON GILMORE (Forward)

Nelson’s improving all the time and with his attitude and desire to play this game, could become a great little player in the future. We’ve been working on his running style a bit this year trying to get Nels to run for the gaps rather than trying to run over the opposition players (Been modestly successful). Still our number one forward and has had another outstanding year. A great young man who always gives a hundred per cent every game. Well done Nels on another outstanding year.

LUKE MASON (Fullback)

Luke had a terrific year reaching the milestone of 100 games for the Mighty Dragons. Luke would have to be one of the best attacking fullbacks in the competition. He makes it look so easy, safe as houses under the high ball and with this great running style always beating the first defender every time, resulting in brilliant long range solo tries. The biggest improvement in Luke’s game this year was in his defence, using his speed and positional play allowed him to make some great try saving tackles this year. Great year, Mate.

KYE MAYNE (Centre)

Kye had a great year, probably didn’t get all the wraps he deserved but was noticed by all the training staff. We moved him in from the wing and had his 1st full year in the centres. He quietly went about his job in the centres and had his most consistent season yet. His defence out wide has been great and his running of the football was outstanding, committed and safe. Developing into a fine young player. Great Job Kye.

JACK METCALF (Centre/ Five Eight)

Massive year of footy. Jack made the Sydney East Representative sides in both rugby league and Rugby union. He became a State Cup Champion in Dubbo with he’s Sydney East side winning the competition. Plus all the games for us, he would have played close to 27 games of footy for the year. Sounds like time for a rest mate. No wonder you were a bit hard to get motivated at training some nights. Playing for us Jack defence and attack was outstanding, always taking to the field giving 100%. He took out the top try scorer for the year with 8 and equal top point scorer with 32 points for the year. Lucky you got that last try in the semi. Congratulations on Sensational year Mate. Well Done.

BLAKE PATON (Forward)

Blake feature in the 321 awards a number of times this year showing some glimpses of what he is capable off. He grabbed a Man of the match award in the last regular game of the year with some solid defence and some great runs which feature in him crossing for his 1st try of the year in our 2nd last game of the year. Blake is finally bringing some speed to his game and as a result his performances have improved greatly in the back half of the

year. A champion young guy, with a great attitude to his training. Well Done.

JOEL PATON (Forward)

Joel. Another solid year and was never out of place in A grade. His game has continued to improve through some solid training and willingness to learn. Like his brother, Joel left it to the last minute to get a try on the score board, leaving it to our last game of the year, the semi final against Aquinas. He has continued to improve his game and has the ability to become and fine young player in the future. Well done Joel on a great year. A pleasure to coach with a great attitude to his training.

ALEXANDER RISK (Forward)

Alex had an interrupted season breaking his arm in our third game of the year against De La 1. He was out until round 8. But from then on, Alex has improved out of sight. The biggest improvement has been in his defence and stamina. Alex put some great hits on the opposition and had some great damaging runs up the middle of the field. He has been a pleasure to coach. A great year Alex. Well Done Mate.

CALEB “The Axe” RYE (Forward)

What a competitor, plays with all the passion and courage of a 1st grader. Loves to mix it up in the forwards and was there for all the hard yards. Caleb was another player who was

one of our unsung hero’s. Every thing was done with passion and 100% commitment,

wether running the ball or going in to tackle the biggest kid of the park. Well Done Mate You had a great 1st year stepping up in A grade.

JORDON SYLVESTER (Centre/ Forward)

Jordon started the year off well, with a man of the match performance in our 2nd game against Gymea. His size and running ability has had many of our opposition struggling to contain his damaging runs on the edges of the rucks. As a result he has bag six tries for

the year and a couple of goals, his defence has continued to improve whilst playing most of the year in the forwards. Jordon also made it into the NSW state Oz tag side earlier this

year which they won, becoming the Australian title holders. Great effort Jordon, Great attitude and a pleasure to coach.

CAMERON WESTLAKE (Halfback)

Cameron season was a successful one in that he was improving from our 1st game to our last game. Half back is one of the hardest positions to play in our game and Cameron’s

organisation skills continue to develop the whole way through the season. A complete

little footballer, challenges the opposition with his probing runs and play making skills. Our no.1 goal kicker and with a desire to train hard should become an outstanding little footballer in the future. Well done Cam on an excellent year.

After two seasons I have come to the conclusion that we need to stand the boys in cow manure four hours a day! Well, growth hormones are still illegal are they not? It was very taxing to be continually batting against the size of some of our opposition teams. A work mate of mine came one week to watch us play Gymea and remarked: “You almost caught that big side, gee the size of them”. I thought that Gymea was the smallest of the Semi Finalists. The good news is that giving away size in the contest builds character. Hopefully in a year or two our opponents may have to build some character!

Injuries from outside the Saturday game crippled us this season. Our best finishers were out for the critical part of the season. Then our distributers are missing when we play the top sides and our offensive pattern is thrown out the window. I guess luck’s a fortune.

All excuses aside we won the games that we should have won and were competitive in the others. We kept turning up at training and putting in the effort, We are a bunch of good

mates and that will always help us later in life.

Well done and thank you to Thomas Palmer, Jake Glanfield, Nick Slater-Raptis and Kye Russel for their support and clubman ship in helping and supporting us this season. Thanks to all associated with the side this year, particularly Jock, Jordan, Dunny, Conor, Brian’s flag work, and Kim’s table duties. My biggest thankyou is to my teammates, we have grown together, enriched in each other’s company, over the last two seasons. I shall enjoy my retirement sitting on the “hill” in the years to come, “cold one” in hand, still enjoying our football.

Zac added an excellent ability to back up the ball carrier and convert opportunities into tries this season. He is developing the best one-on-one ball strip as well. Hey Zac have

you ever seen a lizard run across water?

WILLIAM MAYNE

Wilber started the season on fire, right where he left off. Unfortunately, with a reoccurring back injury, seemed to lose his mojo. Just when he found it again stuffed his knee on the eve of the semis. Billy needs to know everything … always asking questions.

RILEY HOLLIS

What a great season, from slow to fast, small to large and average centre to rep player. Your teammates confidence in your ability sometimes was an Achilles heel for us as you

were our main go to man in the backs. Quite the joker and a pleasure to have around.

NATHAN CASK

Mr dependable this year. Had about five different wingers with him this year. In the finish I would say: “You look after that side of the field you know what you are doing”. Your defence was your strong suit this season saving numerous tries and had the best tackle count against the rampaging Black Cat number 11. Quite the man’s man a good mate.

BEN WATTS

It is a pleasure to coach someone that listens and puts in place what we talked about. You are living proof that: “it is not the size of the dog in the fight it is the size of the fight in the dog”. That is why you were almost unbeatable in Malcoms, no weight to carry and bulldog tenacity. Pity you cannot kick field goals.

BAILEY FRANKLAND

Probably a season that you would like to forget because your feet kept you off the paddock and you therefore struggling to find your rhythm. To your credit you did not want to let your team down and stepped up to play still carrying injuries at semi time. Thank you for your season.

CALEB SIMPSON

I can remember watching games in which our opponents have made a break, disappointed with our line defence, I would watch on almost conceding a try, when, all of a sudden, appearing from nowhere, would come the flying Simo to save the day. Good to see you put those long legs to good use. Pity you cannot ride a pushbike.

BRAYDEN DELAND

Bunny you are one of the most talented players in the side. Pity Bruno’s 8 year old younger brother is taller then you! Great front on defender, excellent at putting a team mate into a hole, and absolutely the best story teller I have ever heard. I cannot wait for you to hear about poetic licence. Just ask him to tell you about Simo coming off his bike.

LOGAN KEPU

What a great season! A combination of strong running, hard hitting defence and a don’t argue fend has picked you up to rep level. Do not over analyse it from here, the next step

is to remember footy is a simple game, when they have the ball pick out the runner and get

up off the defensive line and belt him. When we have the ball target their weaker defender and wait for the ball to come to you. It was a pleasure to know such a young gentleman, don’t let me see you flat footed.

DYLAN PARKES

No one else in the team can influence momentum swings in a game like Dill. He is an accomplished low tackler who finishes around the boot laces every time. In attack he

would take the marker out of play and scored his share of tries. Your mum said that you

had grown this year … I think that she lied to me.

JAKE KEARNS

Great to have you back. Showed your class at hooker creating numbers on the short side to put Sherm into the corner against Gymea, showed your versatility in playing ,lock,

second row and wing and showed your class to play five eight when we needed you. I

enjoyed this season with you, the happy go lucky bloke impressing on Jock and myself what you could do for us, where you could play, how you could kick field goals, why we did not let you kick goals …

JACK SHERWOOD

I thought that you had lost a yard or two of speed at the start of the season, then I saw you starting to be up there in Malcoms and sprints, starting to score tries again. Then what

happens is you find out skate boards or scooters or whatever it was that you were on,

buck! We missed you.

CORY PARSONS

What an absolute talent you are! We all seem to talk of you in attack when your defence certainly leaves nothing to be desired. Shoulder, knee, concussion, … you were the who’s

who of injuries this season. You showed great hart and desire to keep coming back and

are a credit to yourself. If you are going to keep riding pushbikes please get some lessons!

LUKE PATTON

General I found you to be a quiet and unassuming young man who is just starting to harness his strength. You are absolutely unbeatable in the wrestle for supremacy in the

play the ball. I found you to be very dependable and almost too sensible for someone of

your years. You were the recipient of the award for the biggest rip-off of the year, that was a try for sure and certain … enjoy your nuddie run!

JOSHUA MILROSS

When you first played for us I was worried for you. You were flat footed, too much behind the play the ball and were picked off by opposing defence before reaching the advantage line. Approaching semis picked it up with good games against the top sides. In the semis hurt your leg on the corner post in helping save one of three tries you saved and averaging two hit ups per set. More than that was your mature attitude in approaching the game. I still owe you that big Mac meal don’t I? It will not stop you competing in the nuddie run.

JACK RILEY

With the wisdom of hindsight I should have done some goal setting with you. That may have made me more approachable for you as you seemed extremely shy this year, you even had to get Zac to ask for you to move to the other side of the field. Jackie you picked up the concept of adjusting (slide) defence better than your teammates. You covered up when we bombed. You backed up on the brown and scooted well. Your shyness stopped you from blossoming.

BRAYDEN COLENSO

You still controlled the speed of the play the ball better than anyone else. No one can run a brown line better than you. However this year you did not play with the confidence you

displayed last year, and the niggling injuries did not help. Bruno you are a good mate from

a good family, hard work at training will help you regain your mojo. Enjoy the nuddie run.

LACHLAN MEIR

I only hope that I was not coming over as a cranky old bugger to you. After a game I would single out the one thing you could have done better and suggest that to you. I should have

also complemented you on the fifteen things that you did well. It was only in an effort to get

you to strive harder. It all happened for you this year, landing goals from the sideline, scoring tries (four in one game), saving a try or three each game in defence and making the rep side. The nickname Tees that we gave you proved so apt as you forgot the (kicking) Tee more often then not.

2013 saw another combined team for this age group as we started the year with potentially 3 teams that merged into 2 – A’s & B’s. The Under 13B’s started as a combined B & C Team but as the year developed the boys came together as one side. Although we weren’t as successful as 2012, the boys were able to come away with a few good wins.

I would like to congratulate Corey Markem and Rebecca Newton in their first year in their roles for the club along with the rest of the Dragons committee members who put in countless unknown hours of dedicated hard work to make every year successful for our boys and families.

Also to all of the Mum’s & Dad’s who helped out in the canteen selling lollies and drinks along with being on the tongs cooking up sausage and bacon every Saturday, without volunteers clubs don’t survive.

Another year once again to thank Michelle for being our devoted Team Manager – without your help and organization I’m sure that the year would not be a smooth running as it normally is on game day. To Ben and this year Matt, thanks for all of your efforts for helping me out with coaching and training of the boys, offering and supporting me in decisions being made and encouraging the boys to develop themselves in the game.

It was a tough year to balance having to sit players out every week which was the hardest decision I had to make over 17 weeks, but I thank you for being most understanding as this is about the boys and not parents. Thanks again to everyone for your support this year, have a safe break and see you next year

Cheers Rod

AARON BARFORD

Aaron played as our hooker through-out the year. He is a tough guy that is always there in the middle making the tackles and serving good ball to the team all year. There is a cheeky side to Aaron like all good hookers have.

DAVID COOKE

2013 wasn’t the best year for David as he spent a bit of time off the field with injury and sickness. When he was able to be at footy, he put everything he had into training and

game day. He had a couple of really good games in second row & was a pleasure to

coach.

ISAAC CORNELIUS

This was Isaac’s first year in the squad. He played on the wing and was able to have a few good runs in the season and made some good tackles.

LACHLAN DUNLOP

Started the year quiet and about half way through kicked into the gear with some strong aggressive defence.

BAILEY FREEMAN

For Bai to make the field this year from being in hospital was a challenge in itself but he accepted it and gave a solid year. He was honest in his training completing all tasks put in

front of him and not taking any short cuts, you should be proud of yourself.

JAKE GLANFIELD

“Glanie” gave his bustling runs and hard hitting tackles as one of our props throughout the year. When Jake put his mind to it, he had such strong games and made many metres up the middle of the field.

JARON ISEMONGER

This year Jaz played a more utility role than previous ones of being our hooker. He showed a consistent hardworking training ethic every week and come game day was there

in strong defence always backing up and supporting the team having a run from the

centres. His marker work was strong and the team was able to count on Jaz week in week out.

JAI JACQUES

Jai really surprised me with some amazing tackles and brilliant runs throughout the year. He stood his ground and took on his opposition faster and bigger than him, time & time again.

LACHLAN KEOUGH

Lachie spent the year in the outside backs. He had pace to burn and was always there in defence. Lachie was there week after week always willing to help his team out. A vey

valued played in the squad. Well Done Lachie – a great year.

JAMES McCROHON

James was always at the back supporting his team with some clever plays. His confidence grew thought the season and was generally safe under the high ball. He spent the whole

year practising his field goals but never had a chance to pot one over ….maybe next year

Jim Bob, keep practising !

MITCHELL McDONALD

Mitch again guided the team around the park from half back this season. He was able to create some clever plays with his runners change lines and inside/outside balls. Mitch is learning the technical side of the game very well.

ZACK O’HALLORAN

Zack again teamed up with Mitch to keep our core 6 & 7 positions for the year. Zack’s kicking game was outstanding this year kicking a high 90% goal kicking for the year along with some very clever 5Th tackle in-game kicks to pick up this centres and wingers to promote the ball, well done!

TOM PALMER

Tommy defence is his strength with those low ankle axing tackles, the opposition were afraid of running near him. Tom played in a few spots this year, having a run out in the

centres, which allowed us a chance to see his speed in attack that saw him cross the line

a few times in the season.

DANNY “Bull” PASCOE

Bull again gave a solid year in defence and strong running in attack. He was always there supporting his team and leading the pack forward. 2013 was another great year by Bull

who ended up with the runner up player of the year.

LIAM ROCHE

Liam is a quite lad always willing to learn and listen. He played in the centres and has great hands for a player with not a lot of playing time under his belt. He will continue to develop into a good player as the year’s progress.

KYE RUSSELL

Kye’s size was his strength in making metres in every game. His attacking game is his strong part of his game. When his defence matches his attack, he will be an awesome

player.

MAX STEWART

Max shows awesome pace and had some smashing tackles from the wing. He was always strong in defence and was able to support the forwards as an extra runner. He had a great year in the B’s.

NICK SLAYTER-RAPTIS

Nick stepped-up into a Captains role for 2013 and did an excellent job. He led from the front all year and when we needed meters gained he led in the pack in the middle. Nick is

a great player that always wears his heart on his sleeve. Our player of the Year!

JOSH SMITH

Smithy had a good year and is a solid player that I always counted on to take the team forward. He has good hands with the footy and with some hard training will continue to be

an outstanding ball running forward.

SEAN STEPHENS

Sean has always been a quite polite boy but this year with his footy his confidence grew. He was able to make many metres time and time again as a hard playing forward running the ball with commitment and focus. Great Year Sean – well done and keep on going!

Best and Fairest: Taine FLEMING

Best and Fairest Runner-Up: Max HOGAN Encouragement Award: Zac MORAN

Most Improved Award: Daniel PEYCHERS

The boys were in their second season of the merged side between Bosco Bulldogs and Dragons. Similar to their 2012 season it was ‘so close but so far away’ with the side finishing just outside the top four. Excuses can be made in relation to washed out games, missing out on byes and having the bare thirteen players for most games but when it comes down to it (and I think the boys will agree with me), we did not play good enough when we had to.

Once again thanks to the Dragons committee for their service and efforts during the year. Congratulations to the 14B’s for a great season and a big thank you for the boys who volunteered to play up when we were short.

To Bert and Grant thanks in a huge way for your input and effort through out the season. Thanks also to the fathers that volunteered their services for ball work sessions, often resulting in sore bodies!

Finally, thanks to Kylie for her fantastic job in managing the side. The boys hope you all stick around for the next season so we can build more on our previous two years.

COOPER BOWEN

Unfortunately mid-season illness saw Cooper miss a fair few games but he returned to the paddock and showed the enormous ability that he possesses. No reason why he cannot play rep footy in the coming years.

DAMIEN FAHEY

The unsung hero of the pack. An old style front rower that keeps working all day and built up great combination with Max and Monty. He’s a very coachable young lad. I expect a

big 2014 from ‘Damo’.

TAINE FLEMING

Probably the toughest boy in the side and at his own expenses fills in a number of positions. Taine had an outstanding season and was amongst the best players on the field every week. Congratulation on your Best & Fairest award Taine.

JACK GORRY

Goz started most games at lock forward and was more than comfortable behind in our strong pack of forwards. Jack became more confident with every game and was playing

strong ‘footy’ towards the end of the season. Goz was responsible for a lot of the clean-up

work.

MAX HOGAN

Max is regarded as one of the best players in the competition. He leads our forwards and was responsible for the team being competitive in most of our games. Deservedly Max is

part of the Sharks Junior development scheme. Congratulations on your Best & Fairest

runner up award.

BLAKE IBBETT

Our Mr fix it in our back line, Blake moves between wing, centre and fullback and he does it with ease. An excellent defender who plays well above his weight he provides plenty of

encouragement to his teammates. Great year ‘Ibby’.

ZAC MORAN

Fatty’ is the team Beau Ryan and he’s responsible for plenty of laughs at training. A gifted ball player Zac received a number of Man of the Match performances during the season. Terrific year ‘Fatty’ and congratulations on your award.

ADAM NEWEY

Started the season with the 14B’s but after some outstanding performances was poached by the A’s. Born with natural speed, Newey was a bonus for the team scoring plenty of

tries. Another player who will have a great 2014.

JOSHUA NOAKES

Another of the team’s versatile players Noaksey can play hooker to the wing and does so without fuss. The team’s reliable goal kicker Josh always brings his smile to training. Thanks buddy.

DANIEL PEYCHERS

Peach was back in the A’s this season and became an important fixture whether at five eight or second row. A damaging ball runner and plenty of opposition players felt his

strong defense during the season. “Congratulations on your award Peachy”.

MONTY RAPER

Mont continued his slick combination with Max and Cooper, which led to a lot of our attacking plays. A mid-season broken wrist was unfortunate but he returned to finish off

the season on a good note.

LUKE TAYLOR

The flashy centre did not get too many opportunities out wide this year so Luke went looking for them and is a sensational dummy half runner with excellent tackling technique.

JACK TRIPI

The captain, halfback and leader of the team. When ‘trip’ is on we usually win. A couple of niggling injuries during the season hampered Tripi but he kept turning up and played strong every week. Jack’s potential was finally realized and he was part of the Sharks Junior development this year. Congratulations.

NATHAN WATERWORTH

Nath was in his first season with the boys but easily picked up on the style of play sets and will continue to grow in confidence with the rest of the side. Nathan is a pleasure to coach.

What a year it’s been, quite a turbulent one at that! The boys had played C-grade last year and were thrown in to B-grade this year, with no more than 15 players the whole year and only 11 at the start, if there’s anything the boys walked away with this year it’s plenty of passion and heart.

With the prospect of folding at the start of the year all the boys rallied together and worked there hardest to try and get friends to play to make up the numbers we needed. In the end we came up with 15 and the boys got to stay together.

I personally couldn’t be more proud of the boys. There are people out there who think winning is everything, but not in my book. We won a total of 1 game and took home the wooden spoon. But too be able to watch the effort these boys put in each and every week was enough for me. No matter the score line, these lads would never say no. They wanted to finish every single game. One game they were down to 11 players with injuries and I asked them if they wanted to call it a day, they all looked at me and said “yeah right”. The boys have grown tremendously this year in more ways than one, they have started building a passion for footy and I can’t wait to see what they can bring to the comp next year!

Thanks for a great year boys, I couldn’t be more proud of you guys!

CHAYCE WILLIAMS

Chayce is one of those guys who isn’t afraid to get in and get rough. He hits the ball up hard and it doesn’t matter who is standing in front of him he’s trying to go over the top of

them. Just as he runs at them he doesn’t let anybody go over the top of him.

JAKE WILLIAMS

Jake had a bit of a quiet year but when he turns it on he really has a go. He has plenty of vision and can run the ball with skill to sniff out those gaps. He has a real chop in defence and gives It his all every game.

KYLE MAXWELL

Kyle is another quiet fella out on the field but if he gets that ball he’s got some great footwork and ball skills. He has quite a neat step on him and makes good meters with

each run he takes.

THOMAS ADDIS

Tommy is easily one of the best defenders in the team. He is only a small kid but he wears his heart on his sleeve and is able to tackle any size opponent you throw at him. He has great ball skills and isn’t afraid to test their line.

NICOLAS ROY

Nick is the quiet achiever, at the start of the year you couldn’t hear him on the field but by the end of the year he was yelling and really getting involved. His improvement in defence,

attack and under the high ball is easily one of the most in the team. Nick has come a long

way this year and has become a great all round player.

JOSH McNALLY

Josh moved positions quite a bit this year but he nailed every single one. Another one of our best defenders who puts his body on the line for every tackle and gets the job done.

He’s got pace and is very dangerous when running that ball.

AARON PIMMS

Pimmy unfortunately didn’t get to see much time on the field this year. He fractured his arm early in the season at training and then completely broke it in his first game back. That didn’t stop Aaron from being at every training and game though. He was really burning that he couldn’t play and I can’t wait to see him next year.

SAMUEL MIDDLEMISS

Sammy was our fearless leader this year, another kid that wears his heart on his sleeve and has so much passion for the game of rugby league. He gets in there and does some crunching tackles and hits the ball up without fear every time. Leads by example every single game.

CARSON GALE

This was Gallens first year of football and what a year he had. One of the most vocal out on the field and not afraid to mix it up with anyone. He ran hard and looked for off loads

while he would just barrel in at the legs of his opponents to take them down. A great first

year of footy.

DYLAN GILLESPIE

Dylan is probably one of the fastest kids in the Sutherland shire. The amount of times this kid mad a try saving tackle or scored a length of the field try was unbelievable. He was our

top point scorer and our greatest weapon in attack. Unfortunately a calf injury restricted

Dylan towards the back end of the season and he didn’t make it easy to keep him off the field.

ZANE MITCHELL

Zane came to us from Helensburgh roughly 6 games into the season and what a god send he was. This kid is a natural athlete and he has a pass to rival that of Todd Carney. Zane has superb ball and attacking skills and has solid defence to top it off.

JOSEPH AFUNGIA

Aki came to us from the 13’s but if you seen him you would of thought he came from the 21’s. Aki is the gentle giant off the field but on the field he is big trouble for the other team.

He runs hard, tackles hard and this is considering he usually played a full game with no

breaks.

JACK PALMER

Jack is an A grade player who came to us because he has some bad knees. After watching 1 game I could see why he’s an A grade player. This kid has an unmatched

passion for this game and it reflects in the way he plays. He runs hard every time and

tackles with his body on the line.

SEAN SULTANA

Sean is another lad who came to us from the 13’s and unfortunately copped some serious injuries throughout the year. This didn’t stop him from trying to play though. He was out

there limping around for some games but he just wanted to keep on playing. He tackled

hard and ran the ball even harder all whilst carrying injuries. A top year for playing in the age group above.

HARRISON DUNSTAN

Harry hasn’t played footy in a few years but it didn’t take him long to catch back on. He’s one of the biggest boys on the field and a real danger man to the other team. He runs with

such pace that the other team are afraid to tackle him and they were just as afraid to run at

him!

Special thanks to all the parents for getting the boys to training and the game week in week out. Thank you to our manager Lisa for organising absolutely everything. Thank you to our trainers Steve and Geoff for all the hard work they put in this year with the boys. Thank you to Paul who helped organise a lot of stuff behind the scenes with players and what not. Thanks to everyone else for supporting this team and helping out with everything through the year.

I hope to see you all next year, Cheers, Jimmy.

15A – Semi Finalists

Best and Fairest: Liam RAE

Best and Fairest Runner-Up: Cameron SMITH Coach’s Award: Ryan LEVIN

Manager’s Award: Tristan MONK

Congratulations to all the boys for an enjoyable 2013 season. We had eighteen players sign up for the 15A’s at the start of the year and needed every one of them. Rarely having two or three players on the bench, due to injuries, the boys proved that they can compete against all the teams in this competition. In the last four rounds of the season we had to play the top three teams, and at half time in every game were in front on the scoreboard. In time and with the same confidence as I have in this team, they will be able to convert a half time lead into a lot more wins.

At the start of the year I expressed to the team that we needed to improve our defence and they certainly did that. We finished the season in fourth place, with eight wins and six losses. With fewer games played this year than 2012, our points four have increased and the points scored against us have decreased by nearly one hundred points. That is a fantastic effort. The work rate has been shared all season, with eight of the boys ending up within three points of the best and fairest.

They have become a very strong unit and stuck together all year. With more self-belief and confidence (not arrogance), they will become an even stronger team. I thank them for their efforts and hope they enjoyed themselves.

I certainly appreciate and thank the 15B players that helped us out through the year. Kyle McCarry helped us out in the semi-final and done a great job.

I would like to thank Greg Rae for all his work managing the team. Greg does a great job in organising everything and helping at training. He has a great rapport with both the kids and the parents.

I would also like to thank Steve Collier and Steve Ebb for running the water and helping at training. Thank you to Shaun Johns for his help whenever I needed it as well. To all the parents that supported, dropped and picked up, helped in the canteen and BBQ and packed up the field, thank you. It was great to see nearly forty five people at our end of season dinner.

Last but certainly not least I would like to express our gratitude to Kay and Brian Canning’s. Kay was there every game to strap and help the boys with their injuries. Brian supplied the drinks every game, supported and rewarded the boys every week. Kay and Brian have been with the Dragons for as long as I can remember, managing me at the Dragons nearly forty years ago, thank you.

BRAIDEN BROADSTOCK

Played front row, Braiden is an Andrew Fifita in the waiting. He is proven that he is capable of running over five people in a single run, being a very strong defender and running the

length of the field to score tries. With the right training Braiden would be a very strong

force in this team. Well done Braiden.

JOEL COLLIER

Plays centre and defends on our right side. Joel loves to tackle as hard as he can with no thought of self-preservation. He lifted our side on many occasions with his dominant

tackling style. Opposition players certainly knew they had been hit. Joel is a heavily

marked player in attack and showed great discipline. Unfortunately Joel missed our semi- final due to injury and we certainly missed his aggression out there. Good work Joel.

JUYE EBB

Juye is getting bigger and stronger every year. He is becoming more confident in his ability and has a great work rate in defence. Juye has the ability to break the line in attack and off load the ball. Juye backs up well and received the ball on numerous occasions for his efforts. He works hard on and off the field and will continue to improve. Co-captaining the side this year, Juye played lock for the majority of the year and had a great season.

LUKE FARRELL

Luke played in the front row and is growing in confidence every year. He is very powerful and runs straight and hard all the time, his defence from marker is strong and effective.

Sometimes the opposition player didn’t know what had hit them. Luke had his second year

at the dragons this year and has become an integral part of the team. Well done Luke.

NATHANIEL GAFNEY

Nathaniel had his first season with the dragons this year and we certainly hope he continues. He is a natural ball player with great balance and skills. Nathaniel played mostly

five eight with a few games at lock and centre. Unfortunately he missed a few games with holidays and a broken bone in his hand. Nathaniel has great speed and the ability to break

the line, he is certainly a player to watch in the future. Great work Nathaniel.

ZAC HUNTER

Zac played second row this year and has continued to be a very reliable player. He is a very solid defender and has good aggression. Zac has good footwork and uses it well

when running the ball. He makes a lot of yards out wide and can off load a good ball. Zac

has matured a lot this year and is an important part of the team. Keep up the good work Zac.

MATHESON JOHNS

Matheson is a very enthusiastic person. He shows fantastic commitment and dedication to both training and the game. Matheson co-captained the side and plays fullback. His one on one defence has improved and on numerous occasions shut down the attack with solid hits. His ability to get to the ball on the full and return with speed has certainly been a big improvement. Matheson has the speed and ability to change a game, his enthusiasm is contagious and he will continue to improve. Good work Matt.

KIERAN LEVIN

Keiron played dummy half the majority of the season and half back a couple of times. He is a very dedicated player and gives everything 100 percent, even when he is injured he is at training. Kieran improved on his defence this year and will continue to improve with confidence. He directs the play from dummy half and offloads the ball nicely. I wish we had every player wanting to play football as much as Kieran wanted to play. Good work Kieran.

RYAN LEVIN

Ryan had a great season. He played half back, five eight and I think centre at one stage. Like his brother he has a great passion for rugby league. Ryan grew with confidence as

the year went on and plays well above his weight. Ryan has great hands and footwork. His

speed of the mark when he decides to run is very deceiving. Ryan needs to take charge of this team and direct it around the field, like he is capable of doing. His commitment to the side both at training and game day is unquestionable. He played with an injured hand at the end of the season and let no one down. Congratulations Ryan on a great season.

RYAN LONGVILLE

Ryan (Buddy) is a very talented person. Unfortunately for us he is talented at everything he does, including school, rugby, track and field. We certainly appreciated every game he could play for us this year. Buddy has all the skills, passing, running, kicking, defending and can read a game. When he runs the ball he runs at speed and is very difficult to contain. I hope next year when we move to Sunday games he will be able to play a lot more. Thanks Buddy.

TRISTON MONK

It was Triston’s first year at the Dragons and he had a great season. He plays well above his weight and lets nothing get in his way. I’m not sure if he speaks at home but he says nothing at training and the game, he just gets the job done. Triston ranked very high in the points this season and deserved to do so. He has the ability to get out from dummy half and make yards, often beating one or two defenders at a time. He would take a hit and get straight back up. Well done Triston. I hope you enjoyed it and return next season.

LIAM RAE

Liam had an outstanding year. Very rarely coming off the field and being very consistent when on the field. His efforts both with the ball in attack and in defence did not go unnoticed by both his fellow players and me. Liam has matured as a player and is getting stronger all the time. Liam is a hard working second rower that volunteers to go into the front row when we are short of players. He deserved the Best and Fairest this year for this great effort. Keep up the good work and congratulations Liam.

JOSH RIDGE

Josh came back at the end of the season, due to a major back injury. He is a very important part of the side and was missed while he was injured. On Josh’s return he

injected enthusiasm and spirit into the side. Josh is a great motivator and has matured a

lot this year. He is a very strong person who will continue to improve as he plays more games. Good work Josh.

JACK SCHUETRIM

Jack had his first year in A grade this season. He played wing, centre and second row. Jack is a very solid, strong person who has grown in confidence. Jack runs the ball well and was always involved. He will be an even stronger player next year due to the experience he now has. Good work Jack.

CAMERON SMITH

Well done Cam. Cam Smith came to us this year from Young, NSW. He played half back and hooker. Cam quickly got the respect from his fellow team mates for his defence. He tackled everything that came at him, often getting smashed in the process. He would get straight back up and get into the next tackle. Cam would play anywhere to fit into the team and did so. His high ranking in the best and fairest points reflected the effort he put into the games. Congratulations on a good year Cam. I hope you stay in Sydney.

JAMES WAYLAND

James is the player you want on your side and not playing against you. He is a great kid that has strength, power and the right attitude. He along with Buddy had limited games with us due to school commitments. Every game he played with us we appreciated and again I hope our move to Sundays next year will allow James to play more games. We would certainly like him to play again. James would be injected into the game after about ten minutes and would have an instant impact. His strong running of the ball and bone crushing tackles were priceless. We are a good side, but we are certainly a stronger side when James is playing. Thanks for your efforts James.

JAKE WHEELER

Jake moved from the back row last year to centre this year. He also played fullback in one game. Jake is fast and agile, he is capable of reading the game well. Jake is a strong defender who on numerous occasions was involved with try saving tackles. Jake made a lot of ground when running the ball both from dummy half and his centre position. Good effort Jake.

MATT ZAPPIA

Matt had a lot of game time this year and gained confidence. He played mostly on the wing with a few games at hooker. Matt is a very enthusiastic trainer and willing to listen. He has

grown in stature and strength. Although hooker is his preferable position he always is keen

to play as long as he is on the field. Matt ran the ball well from dummy half. Good work Matt.

Best and Fairest: Dylan LEES

Best and Fairest Runner-Up: Chris JENKINS Coach’s Award: Riley MORGAN

Manager’s Award: Matthew SMITH

As a coach and it was my first season with the boys and I am extremely disappointed and accept full responsibility for the team not making the finals.

We lost several close games and had some bad luck in several contests which cost us dearly.

But it is what it is and the boys deserved better and their effort and commitment deserved semi final standing alone.

I want to thank the trainers and super men, Troy Cheadle and Bryuce Paton. And to the manager who is the best on the planet, Sandra Jenkins, I cannot thank you enough. I also wish to thank the parents for their support each and every week they are a special people.

So here is a rundown on the players who played with their hearts and souls.

JAKE VLAHOG

Jake left midway through for personal reasons and he is a boy with talent and brought skill to the team when he was with us.

HAYDEN WILSON

Hayden gave his all each and every week. He always gave his best at training and in games.

MATTHEW TETLEY

Matt had never played footy before and went as a rookie to footy. He played wing, centre and some backrow and with a season under his belt, Matt can only improve in 2014 and

beyond.

MATTHEW SMITH

Matthew is a very talented footballer who played centre, fullback and had a little stint in the backrow this season. Very fast and a specialist dummyhalf runner. He has plenty of skill and ability and had a real good season for him in my eyes.

ANGUS BROWN

On the wing and a few games at fullback, Angus showed courage and effort to return after a month on the sidelines with a broken foot. His defence improved as the year went on

and with further self belief, he can be more than a handy footballer.

LACHIE SKILLCORN

Lachie is what footy is all about. You don't have to be the biggest or most powerful player to do well in the game. Lachie is courageous and he played wing and had a few stints at hooker. His attitude to training and playing is first class.

DYLAN LEES

Gifted player with plenty of time to do things on a footy field. Players that have time have a special ability, Dylan is all class. He also played a few games at fullback. Quality ball

runner, good passing game and terrific tackler. The complete package.

MITCHELL IBBETT

Mitchell played several positions in the team, mainly half, he also played at five-eighth, he also played some hooker, centre and lock. I think Mitchell will greatly benefit from the season he had in 2013. He was consistent, strong, durable and played for the team. I am sure Mitchell will only continue to improve, he has the skill to climb even higher.

BEN BARFORD

Ben is a terrific young man and loves his footy. This year he played centre, five-eighth, halfback, lock and hooker. He always put the team first and never flinched in any games. Ben also has a sharp mind and great personality and his approach and desire in footy is what the sport if all about.

JOSH PATON

Our luckless captain missed a fair slice of footy, firstly from a back injury and then a few weeks after returning from that problem, broke his collarbone. Josh is a mighty fine young man and he never once complained about his bad luck. I saw enough of him on the field to know we were a poorer team when he wasn't playing. Josh has a great attitude and turned up to training when injured such was his dedication to the team.

MATTHEW WESTLAKE

Westie battled injuries later in the season and showed great courage to get onto the field later in the season. Matthew has all the talent. He needs to extract the very best from himself with a real hard yakka approach to training. Westie scored some cracking tries and made many thunderous tackles in games and fearful charges in attack.

JETT CHEADLE

Jett never gets tired. He would play a full game each week. He only missed one half of footy all season when he got a heavy knock in round two and had to be replaced at halftime. Tackles, runs, goal kicks, if you want a real team player in the back row who never gives up, plays as hard at the finish as he does at the start, then Jett's your man.

What a super season from a fine young man who gave it 100 per cent each week. The team is very fortunate to have him.

KYLE McCARRY

Kyle is a real enforcer on the footy field. strong, quick, tough, heavy tackler and shows never-say-die attitude. He had a mighty season and in several games he played with injuries when he should have been sidelined. A real hard yakka approach and disciplined way at training then you will see the very best of Kyle. He is an A grade standard player.

CHRIS JENKINS

Chris plays every minute with passion, toughness, skill, relentless determination and plenty of heart. His tackles are full of power and his running and passing game second to none in the competition. Chris had a mighty season and each week was one of the team's best. He deserves every success in footy and a premiership. The team was blessed with this young man's talents.

RILEY MORGAN

What a season from the young man called ''Big Red.'' Riley's speed, workrate and effort was second to none of any prop in the competition. He made many fantastic runs in attack

which brought the crowd to their feet. At training there was none better for effort, the ability

to apply himself and he always listens. Well done Riley.

JARROD PETTIT

Jarrod improved as the year rolled on and showed plenty of character and effort. His workrate in games improved and always did his best at training. A good, solid season from Jarrod.

JAI OSGOOD

This boy was one of the team's best. He ran hard. He tackled hard. He chased kicks hard. He backed up in support. He chased in defence. Jai's strong defence and power running

were features of his footy this year. I was proud to see this young man develop and he

played centre, wing, lock and second row. I believe he is a forward now and should be a back rower fullstop from now on. Top year, Jai. A super season from him.

The boys are looking forward to next season and they are all very proud to be Engadine Dragons. This is now our 3rd year and the Team are only getting stronger. Bring on 2014...

SEBASTIAN “Sebby” DALTON

Sebby loves footy and loves training, once he is about to play and has all of his gear on he is pumped and ready. Sebby is a fantastic team player and he always supports his team

mates. Hope to see you next season Sebby.

JACK LEIGHTON

Jack loves running down the sidelines and straight through the middle he is a great team player loves his training and congratulates everybody in the team, he pulled off some great kicks this year and some great offloads. Good work Jack.

PATRICK MAY

Patrick is a lightning quick winger he is our most experienced player and he loves cheering his team on and scoring tries. Patrick always tries his best at training and also when he is

playing a match .Great year this year Patrick.

JAKE ASHFORD-COX

Jake loves his footy and once he got that ball no one could stop him, he ran with style. He was confident the whole season and he also loved he footy training and he also loves

getting muddy during the game of footy. Great work Jake.

HAYDEN WATSON

He is always in the action and is always running that ball, he puts in good effort to tackle as well, and he is always looking for the off load to his team mates and he also loves kicking the ball around. Good work this year Hayden.

BAILEY FERGUSON

A natural sportsman, he didn’t train much with us this year as he is an assistant coach of another team, he loved when we played the games because he would always get the ball

and run through the team and score a try. Good effort this year Bailey.

BRODIE SHIAGETZ

Brodie is a really good team mate he always gets there early to start training, he loves running the ball and scoring try’s, he cheers everybody in the team and loves to kick the ball around. Fantastic year this season Brodie.

JOSHUA BARATTA

Josh loves being in dummy half so he could off load it to his team mates, he is a great player and he loves cheering everybody on and also loves running straight down the

middle. Can’t wait to see you next season Josh.

CARL O’FARRELL

A great player he has a big smile when his running that ball he also loves tackling and smashing into the pads at training and he has a lot of fun training with his team mates and his trainers. Great work Carl.

MATTHEW BARNES

Mathew has the biggest smile at training, he loves scoring try’s under the post and he loves passing and kicking the ball with his team mates. He loved tackling the bags and

smashing into the pads at training. Great work Mathew.

JAKE ROBERTO

Jake is a great little player who loves getting the ball and he loves cheering for his team when they score. This is Jakes first year and he has improved so much from the start of the season. Can’t wait to see you next year Jake.

MALACHAI PHILLIPS

Mal loves coming to training and also to the games we play, this was Mals first year and he did really well. Also known as Daniel Mortimer and Luke bird, he did really well this

season. See you next year Mal.

MICHAEL PATRUNO

Michael is a passionate player he loves palming them off when he is running straight through the middle, he would always yell up as loud as he could when he was about to

tackle the opposition. Good work Michael.
