From the Principal

I hope everyone had a nice mid-term break and that everyone is refreshed ready for the next 6 weeks of term 2.

Good Luck to the Boys Rugby League team who play Brewarrina this Friday.

Last week quite a few staff attended a variety of Professional Development. Professional Development ensures staff are up to speed with the newest ideas and information.

Over the Mid-term break the canteen has been upgraded. Further work will continue over the next week.

Cheers Kylie Pennell

From the AEO’s Margo & Danny — Caught being good CONGRATULATIONS to

Katie Whitbread & Brandi Bermingham

KD – Mr Driscoll

Kindergarten are set for a busy week. We will be learning the sounds ‘ue’, ‘ar’ and ‘er’ and will continue with our tricky words. Today’s word is ‘once’ and we will look at how we use this word in our writing. We will also look at ‘recounts’ and begin writing our own class recount. In guided reading we are looking at how to read fluently.

KN – Miss Newton

Kindergarten are ready for another busy week. We have started writing sentences and are enjoying our time in reading groups. Last week we had fun using our Smartboard to play lots of exciting games which help us remember our sounds and to read tricky words. We look forward to planting sunflower seeds this week and watching them grow and change.

1B – Miss Budd

Last week we were visited by the Rural Fire brigade. We had so much fun looking at the truck and playing with the hoses. On a personal note- I had two days of Interactive Classroom Training. I learnt lots of valuable techniques I can now include in my lessons on the smartboard.

1O – Miss Oxley

Last week we completed our Sydney Harbour mixed media artworks. 1O created some brilliant pieces that we are very proud of. We were also lucky enough to have a visit from the Rural Fire Brigade for theme work. We tried our hands at using the big fire hoses and had a lot of fun! Congratulations to Shakayla Dennis star of the week!

2B – Miss Bartley

Last week 2B looked at parallel and perpendicular lines. We designed line artworks, which involved using different lines to make a picture. 2B also started learning about how the lungs in our body work. We look forward to learning more about them.

Cheers Miss B

2D – Miss Dorrington

Last Week we learnt about the lungs. We know that smoking is not good for the lungs because it affects alveoli in the lungs or little sticks as some call them. The boys have changed the design of their block city its quite interesting. We concentrated on dividing numbers into equal groups and symmetry in maths.

Cheers Miss D

2H – Mrs Hardy

Welcome back everyone. 2H hopes you had a get break and are ready to get back to work. Last week we spent Tuesday afternoon completing various science experiments based on the body. 2H enjoyed learning all about how much their muscles can take. We all so painted some ‘Windy Umbrella’ pictures to fit in with the change in weather. This week we are looking at how the heart works. 2H are also learning how to write Expositions. Have a top week! ~Nic Hardy~

3T – Miss Thomson

Last week we wrote an exciting story based on our Fern Gully text. We made winter artworks using perspective which look great and are now hanging in our room. In maths we looked at Roman numerals and problem solving. ( Miss T

3W – Miss Wilson

Last week was very busy in 3W. We started our rotating reading groups and wrote some wonderful independent re-writes in Reading to Learn. In Maths we learnt some fun new subtraction games and had a great time competing against our classmates. We hope everyone had a fantastic mid term break!

Have a great week!!!

Have a great week!

Did you know? Australians are among the highest water users in the world.

What can you do? Turn off the tap while cleaning your teeth – you can save around 5 litres of water every time.
