CAN001 methods for the euthanasia of cane toads

Benzocaine has previously been reported to be an effective topical anesthetising and euthanasing agent for amphibians, for example see Chen and Coombs (1999) and AVMA guidelines (2001). A gel containing 7.5% benzocaine was tested as a euthanasia method for cane toads in the UOW trials, however it showed mixed results with regards to efficacy. ................
