The American Institute of Architects Nebraska Chapter (AIA Nebraska) Invites you to attend a Professional Development Seminar. Attend the seminar and earn 7 HSW AIA Learning Units. Lunch is included.

Who should attend? Professionals in: Architecture, Construction, Design, Government, and Codes

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

On March 15, 2012, the 1991 Americans with Disability Act Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG) became obsolete and is no longer an acceptable design standard nationwide. Currently, the 2010 Standards for Accessible Design (SAD) is the only acceptable federal design standard. This program will study the 2010 DOJ Standards for Accessible Design from cover to cover. This program is not a comparative analysis between the old and new standards. This training will cover requirements for accessibility to new or altered buildings and facilities by individuals with disabilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, using the entire 2010 SAD. This is an advanced curriculum for professionals in construction, design, government, codes and others with a professional interest and extensive experience in accessibility design.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES By attending this seminar you will be able to...

? determine the effective dates for use of the Standards for Accessible Design; ? assess the changes from the 1991 Standard to the 2010 Standard; ? evaluate a chapter by chapter review of the 2010 Standard; ? and apply technical provisions for numerous building and facility elements.
