Ordering of Adjuvanted Trivalent ‘Flu Vaccine 18/19 Season – ReminderPractices will be aware that NHS England updated their recommendations on ‘flu vaccine orders for the 2018/19 season in a letter circulated on 5th February. This included a recommendation that all individuals over the age of 65 should be offered the adjuvanted trivalent vaccine (aTIV). The Thames Valley NHS England team have asked for the below information on current order numbers to be circulated to practices: The table below shows the numbers of vaccines ordered by practices in Oxfordshire CCG and the percentage of the population aged 65 years and over that this covers. Given that the average uptake in 2017-18 was around 72.5% it also shows the percentage of the average ‘likely to be immunised’ population covered by orders. Practices should ensure they order enough vaccine to enable them to meet the recommendation that aTIV should be offered to all individuals aged 65 years and over.If practices have not already secured one of the September delivery dates, orders will need to be placed as soon as possible to ensure the next? available (W/C? October 15th ) delivery, as otherwise there is a risk that they will receive the later delivery date of W/C 5th November 2018. Vaccine ordering for aTIV is open until 29th March.
