Will be added to the July agendaTreasurer’s ReportTreasurer Rachael Cremer indicated no significant changes since our last meeting.Coaching background checks will still need to be completed for all coaches.Indicated we were not invoiced for May and June storage fees.Team Accounts:The 19U team account still has outstanding payments to players for reimbursement for a tournament and to St. Jude for the cost of the play-in game. Rachael will reach out to Amy Kent for inquiry.The other team accounts have been finalized.Hockey DirectorHockey Director Doug Kent was not present but had given an update to Treasurer Rachael Cremer to report.Development:No updates currently until we have available ice time for summer camps due to major renovations at the Ice center. We will evaluate plans at our July meeting and Chris Herrman will follow up with Doug between then.Try-outs:Try-outs for the 2020-2021 season are still scheduled for Saturday August 15th. Doug has sent a registration email to the board that needs to be approved so he can send it out. Time of tryouts was still TBD but Doug can edit that on the fly and make any other necessary updates. Rachael noted that that a current USA hockey registration number is needed and not one from last season.Amy Kent is continuing to work with Mike Hernbrott on ice slots for tryouts. Discussed that 14U and above could possibly have one sheet, while 12U and under were on another. Melissa DeSanty suggested another option is to have one sheet for an estimated 40 girls and split into 45-minute sessions. Doug will need to finalize how we split up the tryouts. Cost of tryouts to the organization is $510. A vote to approve was tabled until the July meeting so we can have further input from Doug.Todd Ashby reported that Doug has spoken with the Quad Cities and offered our support for continue presence of girl’s hockey and doing what we can to help. Their board leader has indicated that at least two hockey teams may be fielded for this season but depth is a concern. Long term sustainability is important to grow the presence of girl’s hockey within the state.Rules & EthicsNo new grievances have been filed.Director of Fund RaisingMeet with candidate for Director of Fund Raising, Madeline Herrman who is the daughter of the current President. Madeline highlighted her personal history with CIGHA for many years as well as her current position as the Director of Public Policy for the Champaign Chamber of Commerce. She has been working in the Public Relations field since the age of 16. She discussed past participation in March Meltdown and opportunities for our organization to fund raise and monetize sponsorship.She outlined a strategy to involve sponsors from local restaurants (dine to donate), sports organizations, hockey celebrities, group sponsors, company donations, and other revenue sharing models.She was nominated for the position of Director of Fund Raising, seconded by Andy Rice and unanimously approved.The current Treasurer, Hockey Director and Director of Marketing & Public Relations will begin to transition associated fund-raising responsibilities to Madeline Herrman.Northern Illinois Hockey League (NIHL)The June NIHL meeting changed to an online format due to COVID-19. Treasurer Rachel Creamer was going to cover the meeting.July: The new meeting schedule is posted on their 2020-2021 calendar. Andy Rice will represent the organization in the July meeting. At this time its status was still listed as an in-person event.August:Board Member Don Aldridge will represent the organization in the August meeting.Future:Location or format of future NIHL meetings may change to adhere to state of Illinois reopening plan.Open discussionDirector of Fun-Raising Madeline Herrman asked about current fund-raising ideas.Indicated that her immediate or short-term strategy is to submit the Dick’s Sporting Goods grant request prior to July 1st. She would also like to identify 1-2 candidates for revenue sharing such as spirit wear sales and other grant opportunities. Also, would like to identify small businesses to partner with for dine to donate opportunities that would add additional revenue. John Deer Classic- This event has been cancelled due to covid-19.Long term strategy is to establish quarterly fund-raising events that involve not only our players but opportunities in involve CIGHA parents as well. Also looking into partnering with other charity organizations. She needs more time to complete research before formalizing her plans for 2021. Melanie will follow up with the treasurer who has ice cost break downs.Fund Raising Dinner- Todd Ashby updated us that he has been in contact with a potential guest speaker. The board will put together some dates and potential venues and put together the when and the where. The plan is to hold an in-person event that would be more meaningful. We temporarily had to halt planning due to covid-19 restrictions. Chris and Todd suggested a November event timed in early November. Todd will check on the guest availability for either of those dates. By that point we are hoping to be well into or beyond stage for which limits social gatherings to 50 people. The Bud Light lounge at the ice center was proposed as a potential location for the event which has the capacity for 100 people and has kitchen access for a dinner. We will follow up with the arena.Treasurer Rachael CremerNo financial requests to report at this time. It has been moved to a business item and the treasurer will report these requests as they come up.President Chris Herrman had inquired about the status of practice travel assistance. He wanted to know if it was still financially feasible. Rachel was unable to respond due to technical difficulties while online. No further discussion took place and will be revisited in our July meeting.Vice President Melissa DeSantyNothing to report.President Chris HerrmanDisclosed that since the City of Bloomington has taken over the ice center, Mike Hernbrott in the interim is in charge of scheduling. There have been early discussions on how to generate revenue and give youth organizations fund raising opportunities.Don Aldridge has turned over a listing of area schools to the President, as well as the Director of Recruiting to outline a communication strategy to invite girl’s participation to the sport.Coaching Stipends-due to the absence of key members discussion was tabled at this time.Chris has suggested an in-person meeting for July.Todd Ashby submitted a listing of all open skate and stick and puck events in Iowa. He is going to reach out to Leigha to see if we can get it posted on social media.
