What is the Evergreen Radio Reading Service?
The Evergreen Radio Reading Service (ERRS), part of the Washington Talking Book & Braille Library, brings current news and information to blind and print-impaired individuals throughout Washington State.
Broadcasting 24 hours a day from studios in downtown Seattle, volunteers read daily and weekly newspapers as well as magazines and short stories. A team of over 80 volunteers and two staff produce 70 percent of the programs, with the rest coming from In-Touch Networks of New York, Sun Sounds of Arizona, and American Public Radio. Special focus program topics include author interviews, pets, science, gardening, shopping, music, health, cooking, exercise programs, disabilities, books, travel, and sports.
