Mrs. Rosales’ Class – Week of December 2nd What are we Learning?**Reading – Unit 3: NonFiction Unit Literature topics: **Sea Turtle**Volcanoes** Habitats** Dogs** CONTINUE- Compare two nonfiction books on the same topic. What new information did you find? What did you find in both books? Are any of the facts different?**Writing – Unit 2: Using Mentor Nonfiction text to add details They will practice adding details to Habitats in their book, use conjunctions (and, but, or), use comparison words, and add adverbs to describe how their animal moves. They will begin a “Partner Writing Project” and pick a topic to research. They will be writing another book. They should have a Table of Contents, Diagram with labels, Headings, Captions, and a Glossary. **Spelling Pattern – Week 11: Long u We will practice our spelling words in one of the reading rotations. Kids learn their new words, mostly, by practicing at home. Students will create a human clock using numbers 0-12 and :00 - :55. They will practice skip counting, up to 1,000, by 5s & 10s. This is something that you can practice with them at home. **Science – Weather UnitSummarize how energy from the sun serves as a source of light that warms the land, air, and water.Summarize weather conditions using qualitative and quantitative measures to describe: temperature, wind speed, wind direction and pare weather patterns that occur over time and relate observable patterns to time of day and year.Recognize the tools that scientists use for observing, recording, and predicting weather changes from day to day and during the seasons.Homework?Please read for at least 20 minutes each night.
