Summer Work for Students who have Completed 2nd Grade

Happy Summer 2nd Grade or should I say almost 3rd Grade! For your summer break I've put together some summer work. The goal for this summer packet is for you to stay in touch with your education and continue to be curious and develop the skills you have already been taught. While this packet is not required, I would recommend completing at least a portion of this packet especially the reading portion. I hope you have a restful and wonderful summer break!

Reading: ? Over Summer Break... Read, Read, Read! Read books that interest, engage, and challenge you. Remember that reading is to be fun to do and you should enjoy the stories. Try to read every day! Attached you will find two different Reading Logs. The first Reading Log is for you to keep track of all the books by month that you read during the summer. The second Reading Log is for you to fill in a star for every 20 minutes that you read. See if you can fill up the whole sheet for each month!

Writing: ? Over Summer Break you will have a chance to write about your summer. Attached you will find Summer Writing Prompts. Please choose three or four writing prompts and write at least five complete sentences for each prompt. Remember that you are a good writer. You always begin your sentences with a capital letter and end your sentences with a punctuation mark. Be sure to include a subject noun and a verb in each one. Adjectives and adverbs make your sentences interesting! Don't forget to draw a picture when you are done.

Math: ? Over Summer Break would be a great time to continue to practice Math facts to help with quick recall, fluency, and speed. Addition and Subtraction facts would be great. Practicing Multiplication facts: 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, and 11 would be beneficial as well.
