FSA Breakfast Treat Sign-Up

Greetings 3rd grade Cheetah families!

It’s hard to believe but FSA is right around the corner. In order to make each testing day as stress-free and manageable, we are asking for some very helpful donations!

Each morning, we would like to greet the students with some type of breakfast item.  This is to make sure they have enough energy to keep them going throughout the test. If you are able to help out by sending in some of these items, it would make a world of difference!

Some breakfast items include: granola bars, cheese sticks, oatmeal bars, cereal packs.

*Please note: Items must be INDIVIDUALLY packaged*

Please be on the look out for an email from your child’s homeroom teacher with more information.

Math:

- We finished the book!! As we continue through the next month until FSA we will be going back and reviewing skills that we learned earlier in the year so we are refreshed and ready to show what we know on FSA.

- In Math we will use a journal each day. Please help your child remember that this journal must be brought to school every day. These journals serve as excellent review materials and we encourage you to look at them each night to review what we did in class and to study the vocabulary words.

3rd Grade Math homework: Our expectation is that homework should be completed nightly except on the days we complete our Chapter tests, then there will be no homework. We are asking that your child complete the entire backside of the homework assignment, as the spiral review will reinforce all concepts taught throughout the year. We also expect them to complete the assigned problems on the front of each homework assignment, which will be stated in the homework chart (see above) at the beginning of each week.

- If your child is struggling with any of the concepts please contact Ms. Thresher or Miss Comendeiro.

- On our 3rd grade website under the Math section, you will find different resources to help reinforce the skills we are working on. Under the Math section you will also be able to find a list of the Think Central Go Math Interventions that align with the chapter we are working on in our classroom.  Intervention videos will "show" how things are being taught and will give you better insight into how to "help" your child at home.

- If your child is absent when a math lesson is taught, he/she can go onto ThinkCentral to view the "Intervention" lesson for that particular skill. This will "teach" what was missed at school and hopefully help to prepare them for when they return.

- The log-in and password for Think Central has been placed on the inside cover of your child's planner.  Please utilize Go Math to help your child practice math concepts at home.  It can be accessed at  .  We will be assigning each student all of the interventions as we go through each chapter.  Please encourage your child to review previously taught materials through these intervention pieces.

World Lab (Science / Social Studies)

This week we will begin our next unit in Social Studies: Trading Goods and Services using the Studies Weekly newspaper Week 26. Our goal for this week is for students to recognize that buyers and sellers interact to exchange goods and services through the use of trade or money. Our test for this unit will be on Friday, April 9th. Please continue review the newspaper at home along with the vocabulary terms in the world lab journal. The newspaper and study resources are also available on using your child’s login. Thank you for your continued support at home!

Language Arts:

FSA is right around the corner so this week we will be completing two FSA Practice tests. We will also be doing multiple FSA Editing Practices. Please review these as they come home! 😊

Please be sure to monitor your child’s written sentences at home, ensuring that conventions are being utilized (capital letter to start, punctuation at the end). We notice this is an issue for third graders this year.

Homework for the week:

Please make sure to read 30 minutes each night.

Fluency Practice:

Fluency: There are two of the same passage for the nightly fluency check. One is for you to follow as your child reads. Use the table at the bottom to record scores once each night. Your child should only be reading this passage for one minute.

Reminders:

-School starts at 8:45, but students are allowed in the classroom starting at 8:15.

-Please remember to sign the planner each night.
