INTRODUCTIONarts>Brookfield – mission statement: Brookfield Properties brings life to its public spaces through an internationally acclaimed visual and performing arts program. We also fulfill our commitment to local artists and performers by commissioning original works and presenting art forms in new and unusual spaces. Constructed in 1990, Newport Tower is a 1.1 million square foot, 36-story office tower that offers spectacular views of the New York Harbor and Manhattan skyline. Located in Jersey City's business district, the building is easily accessible from the New Jersey Turnpike and Holland Tunnel and is just steps away from the Pavonia-Newport PATH train and New Jersey Light Rail.Please refer to the enclosed maps, plans, and photographs which will clarify the following descriptive material. VENUE SPACESarts>Brookfield Properties uses the Plaza and the Lower Lobby at the Grace Building.The Plaza is used forConcertsPromotional EventsWhen facing the Newport Towers entrance, the BP property line runs to the hedges on the right. The Plaza runs from the hedges to the front of the Newport mall entrance. The Lower Lobby is used forSmaller concertsPromotional EventsIII. PERFORMER SUPPORT All artists and personnel names need to be given to the building security staff 24 hours prior to an event. Once on-site, artists and personnel need to check in with security and show ID to receive a building pass. Artists drop-off/pick-up point is usually on 525 Washington Blvd. in front of the plaza. There is no private entrance. DRESSING ROOMS There are no dressing rooms available to artists, although use of the construction office can be arranged for storage. Use of the construction office will require building ID or accompaniment by a production staff member with such an ID. There are public restrooms available in the cafeteria on the second floor. SOUND CHECKSound check can begin between 10:30am and 11:00 am. Sound check is a “vista”—the public will be present.HOSPITALITYBottled water will be provided (next to stage in a cooler). Food will only be arranged per contract stipulations. MERCHANDISE TABLEUpon request, we will provide a table for artist merchandise sales. It is often shared with the arts>BP info table. ACCESSThe Newport Tower525 Washington BoulevardJersey City, NJ 07310DIRECTIONS TO NEWPORT TOWERPATH Train:Pavonia/Newport Station. Newport Tower is across the street from the Station.Driving DirectionsFrom New York Holland Tunnel to Marin Boulevard (the first right after emerging on the jersey side). Take Marin one block to 18th Street. Turn right onto 18th Street, which becomes Washington Boulevard. Follow Washington Boulevard through the flashing street light and past the next operable street light. Newport Tower will be on the right.From the Lincoln Tunnel, it is necessary to drive through Hoboken to get to Newport. Take the Hoboken exit and drive straight to 14th Street, about a mile. Left on 14th Street all the way to Hudson Street. Right on Hudson, then bear left onto Sinatra Drive. Sinatra brings you to Fourth Street; take your second left onto Hudson Street to the end of town. Right onto Observer Highway, left onto Marin Boulevard and left at the light onto 18th Street which becomes Washington Boulevard through the flashing street light, and past the next operable street light. Newport Tower will be on the right.George Washington Bridge to 95 South which turns into the New Jersey Turnpike. Follow directions from New Jersey Turnpike listed below.From Staten Island, Take the Bayonne bridge to Kennedy Boulevard, through Bayonne into Jersey City Approximately seven miles to Montgomery Street (there are a lot of lights). Turn right on Montgomery to Marin Boulevard; left to Marin to 6th Street (Thomas Gangemi Boulevard). Turn right onto 6th Street to the end. Left onto Washington Boulevard. You will be approaching from the south and Newport Tower will be on the left.From New Jersey Take the New Jersey Turnpike North or South to the 14A-B-C extension (you will see signs for Holland Tunnel). Pay Toll at Exit 14C and then continue straight. Turn right at the first light onto Jersey Avenue, and bear left up the ramp towards the Newport Center Mall. Stay left to the end, which is Washington Boulevard, to avoid driving into the parking lot. Turn right onto Washington Boulevard and Newport Tower will be on the right.From Route 3 East follow signs for 1&9 then follow signs for the Holland tunnel. Turn right onto Jersey Avenue at the first light before the tunnel. Bear left, up the ramp towards the Newport Center Mall. Stay left till the end which is Washington Boulevard, to avoid driving into the parking lot. Turn Right onto Washington Boulevard and Newport Tower will be on the right.From Routes 1 & 9 follow signs for the Holland tunnel. Turn right onto Jersey Avenue at the first light before the tunnel. Bear left, up the ramp towards the Newport Center Mall. Stay left till the end which is Washington Boulevard, to avoid driving into the parking lot. Turn Right onto Washington Boulevard and Newport Tower will be on the right.PARKINGSouth Parking GarageThe South Parking Garage is located on Mall Drive East across from JC Penney's and Macy's. You may enter the garage on Mall Drive East or on Washington Boulevard.From Washington Boulevard:If you are proceeding south, after passing the Newport Tower (and 499 Washington Blvd.), you will see the South Parking Garage on the right hand side and set off the road a little. Make the first right and this will bring you into the parking garage.If you are proceeding north, after passing the Newport Tower, make a left at Newport Parkway. Make first left on Newport Parkway (if you go straight, you will enter the mall parking lot) onto Mall Drive East (Sears/Jiffy Lube will be on your left) and follow the road to the parking garage.Two parking spaces can be held for us in the loading dock (if available; must be cleared with Ann). EQUIPMENT LOAD-INLoading DockThe loading dock is located on Mall Dive East in the back (West Side) of the building. This area may be used for deliveries and pickups only. Loading docks accommodate straight body trucks up to 25 feet long and 13 feet high. An attendant is on duty from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. to assist with deliveries.Directions to Loading Dock from Washington Boulevard:If you are proceeding south, make the first right after Staples/Modells. This is Newport Parkway. Make first left on Newport Parkway (if you go straight, you will enter the mall parking lot) onto Mall Drive East (Sears/Jiffy Lube will be on your left) and follow the road to the Newport Tower loading dock. The dock will be on your left, across from Kohl’s.If you are proceeding north, after passing the Newport Tower, make a left at Newport Parkway. After that turn, follow the directions above.Plaza AccessThe plaza is located on Washington Blvd. directly in front of the building entrance. There is a small curbside insert directly in front of the plaza; for quick loading-in and out. Vehicles cannot be left unattended.Freight ElevatorFreight elevator service is provided from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for tenant deliveries. Deliveries after business hours and freight elevator use may be arranged through the Service Order Request System or by contacting the Management Office.VII. BUILDING OPERATIONSStorage closet is located on the lobby level, behind security. There are no 6 ft. tables available at this location. Plaza power needs to be turned on by the electricians. A request needs to be made daily. VIII. Let Michael Kinney know date and time of any delivery or pick-up, and make sure whoever is delivering uses the loading dock.Get water ordered for concerts. Newport has an account number to order from Poland Springs. Let Michael know how much water will be needed.Find out from Artists:If they will be selling merchandise?If they plan to have someone taking pictures or video?If they need any reserved seats? If so, how many? (If YES, I print out RESERVED sheets to bring day of concert)What are the names of all artists, managers, crew who will be onsite at the concert? What instruments does each member of the band play?How will everyone be arriving (by car, train)?What time will everyone be arriving? (Determine the time of Sound Check depending on needs of band and number of members it can vary. Usually Sound Check is scheduled for 11:00am. But we have pushed a few back to 11:30am for 12:30pm concerts)Make sure to get a stage plot.Find out from One Dream the names of the crew who will be onsite.At least 3-4 business days before show – Email Michael Kinney the EIS so he can distribute to building personnel. Make sure to let Michael know if we will need the area under the escalators (“holding room”).
