Homework Policy
4th Grade
Please retain this copy of the Homework Policy for future reference.
Homework should:
1. Reinforce skills and information taught in class.
2. Extend the learning that takes place in class.
3. Help instill self-discipline.
4. Provide an additional means of home-school communication.
The teacher will:
1. Assign approximately one-half hour of homework each evening (Monday through Thursday) and fifteen minutes of individual reading or shared reading each evening in addition to the half hour.
2. Answer all questions and provide the materials necessary to complete the assignment.
The student will:
1. Complete all assignments carefully and neatly.
2. Ask questions about assignments and gather materials before leaving school.
3. Return completed homework to school on time.
4. Complete assignments independently.
The parent will:
1. Help determine a time and place for completing homework.
2. Provide positive support.
3. Send a note of explanation if the homework is incomplete.
4. Contact the teacher with questions or concerns.
