4th Grade News

Science

We are beginning our second unit in science this week! Earth’s Cycles and Patterns.  We will begin with the water cycle and begin studying weather maps. Don’t forget about our first science test on Thursday.  It will cover: Matter and its properties, safety, and scientific tools.

Math

Students will continue working on place value this week.  We will compare and order whole numbers.  Students will also continue using number lines to help them compare and order decimals.  Our first math test is on Wednesday, October 8.  It will cover data analysis (frequency tables, dot plots, stem-and-leaf plots), whole number place value, and decimals.  Keep working on those math facts!

Social Studies

This week in social studies we will continue learning about the Native Americans of Texas.

Don’t Forget

• This Friday is a half day and students will be dismissed at 12:40pm.

• Literacy night is October 9th from 5:30-7pm.

Language Arts

In reading, students will be learning strategies that will allow then to become better readers.

In writing, students will continue brainstorming ideas and writing a personal narrative.
