Doors open at 5:30pm and presentations will take place at 6:30pm. The event will be held at the Vintage House on Utica Road in Fraser, MI. “With our local economy starting to rebound, there are many more opportunities for small businesses and entrepreneurs to succeed,” said Lauren Fogarty, chief strategy officer at Christian Financial Credit Union. “CU@Soup can help fill in the gaps where a startup’s funding may fall short.”Three innovative local entrepreneurs will pitch their business ideas in front of a crowd for the chance to win the total amount collected at the door, as well as an additional $1,000 micro-grant from Christian Financial Credit Union. Participants will each have ten minutes to win over the crowd and five minutes to answer questions from the audience. After participants pitch their ideas, the crowd will vote on their favorite business idea. In addition, CU@Soup participants will also have the opportunity to be considered for additional small business loan funding through Christian Financial Credit Union. Presenting entrepreneurs will include Chantele Jones of Harrison Township, presenting Vda-Lish, her plan for a vegan ice cream and dessert food truck; Larry Prentice of Macomb, presenting Giving Chair, his plan for an eco-friendly furniture company with a charity focus, and Kevin Ramsby of Harrison Twp, presenting Big Event Inflatables, an inflatable rental company.The public is invited to attend the CU@Soup event to enjoy the dinner, and vote for the winning business idea. Last year’s CU@Soup contest winner, Kathi Sitek of Pill Pouch, planned to use their micro-grant funding from the CU@Soup event to help expand their organization and to conduct a pilot study at Town Village Assisted Living, in Sterling Heights.
