Fifteen Skills to help allow for a successful 6th grade year!To help to fight against the “summer drain,” where students lose everything that they learned from the previous year, St. Benedict Catholic School has decided to create a summer IXL work assignment for 5 – 8 grade. This summer work program is made up of 15 required skills that can be found on IXL and 30 extra credit skills. The 15 required IXL assignments are meant to review material that the students have learned throughout the school year and help to prepare them to jump right into the next year. Goal: The goal for this assignment is to achieve a score of at least 75 in each of the twenty required skills. This should take no longer than 10 – 20 minutes per skill. Scoring: The grade for this assignment is worth 20 points. Every required skill that is not to at least a score of 75 will drop your assignment grade by ? of a point. Extra Credit: If your child achieves at least a 50 in 10 of the 30 extra credit IXL assignments, they will earn 5 bonus points for all three trimesters. There are extra slots open only for skills above the level H if students want to challenge themselves.General math websites to support summer retention: (skills organized on the right side of the page) (watch short videos for any skill)a_lesson/archives/numbercross.shtml (math “crossword” puzzles) (TONS of math games) (watch short videos and earn points for practicing skills on their website) (worksheets that practice one skill at a time)All of the IXL assignments come from level H.
