|R.E |Introduction to |This half term we will be focusing on Hinduism. In this first session we focus on the Hindu God Brahman and the three forms |

| |Hinduism |it takes: Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva. |

| | | |

| | |Brahma is the creator of the world and all creatures. He is usually shown with four heads. |

| | |Vishnu is the preserver of the world. His role is to return to the earth in troubled times and restore the balance of good |

| | |and evil. He has blue skin and four arms. |

| | |Shiva is the destroyer of the universe. Shiva destroys the universe in order to re-create it. Shiva has blue skin, a third |

| | |eye and carries a trident. |

| | |The children can watch the attached video clip - |

| | |There is also a PowerPoint for the children to look at to help explain the Gods in more detail. Once they have completed the|

| | |PowerPoint the children can then draw a picture to represent each deity on a lotus leaf on the sheet provided. I have |

| | |attached an example from when I have taught this previously. |

| | |To represent Brahma the children might draw animals or Earth as he is the creator. |

| | |To represent Vishnu the children might draw somebody looking after another person as Vishnu is the preserver. When I have |

| | |taught this before, some children have chosen to draw the sea as his skin is blue in colour. |

| | |To represent Shiva some people have shown good overcoming bad as he is the destroyer of evil. Other children have drawn the |

| | |peace symbol as he helps to keep peace. |
