Good afternoon 8th Grade and 7th Grade Algebra Families,Welcome to our new adventure, online learning!! We have been working very hard over the week to make sure this adventure is organized, simple, and pleasing to all. In this letter we will address all that you need to know for the next few weeks to simplify this process. Having multiple classes can be a struggle, but with the plan that we have come up with, it should be stress free. The three things that will be covered in this letter is: #1: Daily attendance #2: Activity expectations for the first week and the weeks thereafter #3: How to turn in assignments designated by your instructors.First things first, attendance. You will be assigned daily lessons. History (Loscalso), Science/Biology (Calderon), and Algebra (Grillo) and Geometry (Grillo/Steinle) will all be through USA Test Prep. Students know how to sign in through Clever. They all have done this in our class, so this will be simple for them. It will be labeled “Daily Attendance” so they know to start there. ELA (Dominguez and Audain) and Pre-Algebra (Steinle) will be through iReady. They will log in through Clever and have a daily assignment to complete for attendance. If there are any questions, please feel free to reach out to the correct instructor for further assistance. The activity expectations are 3 virtual assignments for the first week. Moving forward will look different for each subject matter. Meaning, different assignments with different due dates. As an 8th grade team, we are assigning 3 assignments for the week to be completed in each subject content area. Please look at the teacher’s personal web page and Edmodo for those particular assignments and their due dates. Any assignment given MUST be turned in by the date assigned, no later than 11:59 pm.Turning in assignments. All assignments will be turned in via Edmodo or another platform designated by the instructor. All assignments collected for a mastery grade will have feedback provided by the instructor. Starting the week of March 30th, 2020 we will have the following classroom assigned live chat times for instruction.ELA 9am-10amScience 10am-11amHistory 11am-12pmMath 12pm-1pmAll class will end at :55 to allow students and instructors a brain break.I will be doing the live q and a sessions that you are REQUIRED to attend each day by periods. For Algebra, it will be 4th period on Monday 12-1, 5th period Tuesday 12-1. 6th period Wed 12-1. This is imperative that you log in on that day and time. If you have a conflict please let me know ahead of time and you can join on one of the other sessions. YOU MUST ATTEND THE WEEKLY SESSION!There will be a required weekly response thread on Edmodo where you will be given a problem that is done wrong and you must explain what step they did wrong and submit the right answer into me. We will be discussing this in more detail during our live sessions.I will be uploading my lessons every week and then the required work will be on EDMODO to submit. You can download it into word and answer in there and then submit through Edmodo or you can print it and work on it and email me the pictures of it done. Whichever way works for you. We will deal with this as we go. There will be a weekly assignment in USA TP that is due by Sunday night. YOU MUST LOG IN AND COMPLETE AT LEAST ONE PART OF IT MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY. THIS IS YOUR ATTENDANCE! So if there is 6 parts you need to complete 1 part each day and 1 more part by Sunday. Will this take long, no!So, there are key things to know: You will need to do the weekly assignment in USA TP, the weekly response problem, the math problems that are assigned through Edmodo. These will be graded! You must also attend a weekly session preferably during your period. If you need one on one time, this will be during office hours which will go out next week. Please feel free to email me any time and text me at 772-678-0636. We will navigate through this and I hope that you all take this seriously because you WILL BE REQUIRED TO TAKE THE ALGEBRA EOC AT A LATER DATE. ................
