In our next nonfiction story, we’ll explore all kinds of weather. We’ll explore the question “How do you know what a story is mostly about?” In the informational text, Super Storms, we’ll learn about several kinds of extreme weather.

**Please encourage your child to remember to bring home their reading textbook and Library book each weeknight.

Reading: Reading Comprehension skill we will be identifying main ideas and details- tell important ideas and details about a topic

(SOL 2.8 & 2.9) and the target strategy will be to visualize- picture what is happening as you read (SOL 2.8 & 2.9)

Grammar:

Students should be able to identify and use nouns properly. We will focus on proper nouns. They will need to know that a noun is a word that names a person, animal, place, or thing. Proper nouns are the special names of people, animals, places, days, months, or holidays. Proper nouns begin with a capital letter.

Students will continue to work on identifying and creating complete statement, command, exclamatory, and question sentences. They should be able to name the subject and predicate of a sentence. They should also know the 3 rules for writing complete sentences. **Review textbook pages: 30, 58, 82, 350, 378, 438, 118, 154, & 222. (SOL 2.13). [TEST Tuesday 2/11]

Please review these words and help your child with the homework pages in the packet pocket of the homework folder. *Trick words are like sight words that can not be decoded to read or spell. These need to be practiced until they are memorized.
