REMINDER TO ALL MEMBERS
Lockheed Martin's Workplace Security policy, CPS-565 is strictly enforced. One provision of the policy is a workplace free of weapons, which includes Firearms, Ammunition, Bows and Arrows. The club must emphasize this policy to our members. Additionally, a state issued CCW permit does not supersede nor over ride this LMA policy.
Members wanting to store firearms or archery equipment during the day ONLY, must contact Gene Adamson (1-1531) or Dave Mulholland (7-3674) for access instructions.
ATVs and No ID
Both SHFC and RRCI members have recently encountered ATV’ers with no ID, on the property. Plant Protection and Roads and Grounds have authorized ATVs for use during the course of their duties, but no employee/private ATVs or the like are permitted. If you encounter unauthorized activities on the property - contact Plant Protection 303-977-4646. Also contact Plant Protection if anyone you encounter is unable to produce required employee badge or authorized club identification. Do not become involved in confrontation –Call Plant Protection.
Alternative to Electronic Gate
As a result of instances where the electronic gate has been damaged, the club will use the manual gate that is located just pass the electric one (in bound) as a backup. The combination lock on that gate will be the same as the main gate. The club member is still expected to "wand" their electronic gate card at the electronic gate for accountability. Signs are being placed that will Caution personnel approaching the gate(s).
shotgun Range use and combo change
We have experienced unauthorized use of the skeet range in the past few weeks. The machines were not safed in the correct manor. In an attempt to keep this from continuing, the bird house combination is going to be changed this week. A listing of certified trap and skeet range officers will be posted.
There was a lot of hard work expended in getting the high house thrower back and running after the house blew over this Spring. Please help use keep the hardware in a correctly maintained state by contacting a certified range officer if you can not shoot at our regularly scheduled shoots. Tim Anderson (303) 269-5367 (W)
Club All Around shotgun championship
Club All Around Shotgun Championship to be held 8/19 @ 9 AM. Shooting will consist of 2 rounds of Trap one @ 16 , one @ 27 & 2 rounds of Skeet one standard Skeet , one Skeet Doubles .There will be a $6 charge to cover the cost of the clays. For information call Keith Davis @ 303-9721661
OUTDOOR BUDDIES SIGHT IN
Sunday August 26 SHFC will hold the annual sight in for the Outdoor Buddies. at the 100 yard range from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Outdoor Buddies is an organization of volunteers helping the mobility impaired to enjoy outdoor activities including hunting and fishing. Able-Buddies accompany the disabled Handi-Buddies on a one-to-one basis.
Summer 3-Gun
Due to popular demand, we have a summer 3-Gun shoot on the last Saturday of the month in August (25th), September (29th) and October (27th). The shoot will start at 4:00 pm and run to about 7:00 pm. Setup starts about 1 hour before the shoot. This should help satisfy some of the pent up 3-gun craving due to the many cancelled shoots this past winter. For those new to 3-gun, it is similar to our Wednesday night practical pistol except we shoot the pistol, shotgun and semi-auto carbine/rifle for a combination of accuracy and speed. Since the Summer 3-Gun runs concurrent to practical pistol, we’ll have a heavier emphasis on the rifle and shotgun. Ammo requirement is roughly 30 rounds of pistol, 100 rounds of rifle, 50 rounds of shot gun (mostly birdshot and occasionally 10 rounds of slug and buckshot). Contact Walter Tang at x-76474.
SKEET SHOOTING IS BACK ON
The repairs to the high house have been completed. Thank you to all of you who helped us get back on track. We will be shooting every Tuesday evening until October 30th. Shooting will start at approx. 5:00 pm and will continue until everyone is done. Please contact Tim Anderson at (303) 269-5367 to ensure that there will be shooters planning on attending every week.
CIVILIAN MARKSMANSHIP PROGRAM (CMP)
High Power matches are conducted every off-Friday, finishing by noon or 1 PM. Effective 1 June, 2007, the matches will begin at 8:00 AM.
We welcome all types of high power service or match rifles; some choose to shoot the Garand or M1A but the AR15 is the choice of most. The club has two AR15s, and a spotting scope with stand which are available to use during matches. Ammo is also available at a reasonable price.
The following Skyline Shooting Team members have represented the club at recent matches in the area.
Corey Kroll and Tony Christensen – Garand matches – see accompanying article and pictures
Keith Davis – Was the High Senior at three separate matches so far this season: the New Mexico Regional High Power held at the Whittington Center in Raton, NM, the Colorado State Service Rifle Championships at Buffalo Creek Gun Club, and the Colorado Regional Championships held at Colorado Rifle Club in Byers.

GOOD SHOWING BY SHFC MEMBERS
Skyline Hunting & Fishing Club Members, Tony Christensen and Corey Kroll representing the SHFC Shooting Team are regular participants in Garand Matches outside of the bi-weekly CMP high power shoots held at the SHFC range.
The two venues we have participated in are at the Colorado Rifle Club in Byers, CO and more locally at the Aurora Gun Club in Aurora, CO.
Garand Matches must use Unites States service rifles in "as issued" condition from W.W. I and W.W II. Rifles can be either M1903 Springfields, M1917 "Enfields" M1 Garands, M1 Carbines, or M1941 Johnsons. As the cut-off for US service rifles is W.W II, neither M1A (M14) nor AR-15 (M16) rifles are permitted.
To date, Tony and Corey have participated in three matches at CRC and a single match at Aurora GC, and have been able to make a respectable showing in the name of the SHFC shooting team.
Classified as "new shooters" (as we were first time shooters at CRC) and both shooting M1 Garands, Corey was able to take an award of a coffee mug at the match held on 3/31/07. On 5/12/07, again at CRC Tony earned a bronze pin with his M1 Garand and and Corey, this time shooting a M1903 Springfield, came home with a T-shirt award in the 1903 Springfield category. The most recent match attended at CRC on 7/1/07 Tony, again shooting his M1 Garand, won another bronze pin. The next Garand match to be held at CRC is on 9/29/07.
At the D-Day commemorative match held at the Aurora Gun Club on 6/9/07, Tony brought home a silver pin and Corey a bronze pin. M1 Garands were used by both participants. Aurora Gun Club's next match will be on 8/12/07 commemorating the W.W. II battle of Guadalcanal.

GARAND SERVICE RIFLE MATCH
The tentative date for the next Garand/Service Rifle Pin Match will be August 24th and August 26th. Here's what that means. Some of you cannot attend on the Off-Friday because of work or family commitments, some of you can. The weekend date is therefore a real "opportunity" for those of you who can attend both. The final match scores will be an accumulation of the two day event. You can therefore outshoot yourself on the second day. If you score lower on the second day, you will be allowed to select the best overall day score. You will not be able to select a portion of one day's shooting for another….nice try. The overall winners will be announced on Sunday, but the club will be notified through the newsletter that will be published immediately following.
Competitors will be grouped for receiving a club shooting award Pin according to the following grouping.
Group 1 - Garands, Garand-likes (don't ask me what that is, but I know one of you will show up with it), M1 carbines, AK47s, SKSs.
Group 2 - Springfield's, Mausers, Eddystones, Mosin-Nagants, Carabanos, other strange "military issue" (by whomever) versions, I know some of you have that stuff also.
Group 3 - AR15's, M1A's, the normal competitive rifles used for CMP. If you don't have anything else, or you just want to participate, this category includes use of the club rifles. You will not be able to compete against the other groups, just shoot at the same time.
YOUTH SHOOTING SPORTS PROGRAM
SHFC will once again be offering a youth shooting sports program this year. This will consist of Firearm Safety Training, Small Bore Rifle, High Power Rifle, Shotgun, and Muzzle Loading. We will also be hosting Boy Scout shooting events. The programs are COED, and open to all youths between the ages 12 through 19 and have a valid safety or NRA firearms safety card in their possession for admittance to the SHFC range. A parental permission form is required.
YOUTH SMALL BORE
Small Bore Shoot – 11th August 2007, 09:00 to 1:00 PM at the pistol house. NRA four position rifle. Bolt Action iron sight .22 rifles only. Club rifles and ammo will be available. Contact Bill Wilson 303-979-4547, olbullets@
YOUTH SHOTGUN
The shotgun program will consist of informal trap shooting, a trap league, and a couple of trips to a sporting clays range. We also have an opportunity to register one or more teams (5) in the National Shooting Sports Foundation, Scholastic Trap Program. These teams will participate in the Colorado State Shoot. Winners at the state level will get an expenses paid trip to the Grand American Tournament. If you have an interest in the Shotgun Program contact: Bill Wilson 303-979-4547 olbullets@ He will provide you with the details and sign up information.
YOUTH SHOTGUN SHOOT
18th August 2007, 09:00 to 1:00 PM. Loaner Shotguns are available in 12 ga as well as 20 ga youth models. Light target ammo available at $4.50/ box or you may bring your own. Contact Bill Wilson 303-979-4547, olbullets@
CALLING ALL JUNIORS!!!
Service Rifle and Match Rifle competition is one of the fastest growing competitive facets of the shooting sports, with lots of opportunity to compete on a local, regional, and national level. Competitors are ranked based on previous competition results (Marksman, Sharpshooter, Expert, Master, High Master) allowing individuals to compete with others of similar ability and experience. We are looking for Juniors (18 and below) to participate in SHFC’s Junior High-power program. Juniors will use SHFC’s Bushmaster CMP rifles, and other equipment. SHFC will provide individual coaching, pay for attendance at the above clinic, pay match entry fees and provide match ammo. For additional information, please contact Bill Wilson at Olbullets@, Dennis Casey at 1-7197, or Gene Adamson at 1-1531.
BULLSEYE MATCHES
The next Bullseye match will be held on Sunday, 01 July 2007 starting at noon. We will be following the NRA Pistol Rule book.
25 Yards outdoor course, competitors who can only fire one class of firearm will be scored in their own group. For additional information, contact Adam P. Davis @ (303) 977-3380.
