Famous Psychologist Research Project

Objective- SWBAT produce research based presentations to their peers focusing on assigned psychologist.

Students will be divided into groups of three.

Each group will be assigned a famous psychologist to research and prepare a presentation

Specific questions from presentations will be included on the unit test.

The group is responsible for:

Preparing and presenting information to the class.

Creating a PowerPoint presentation about assigned psychologist.

Presenting PowerPoint presentation about assigned psychologist to the class.

Developing a broad question about your psychologist (preferably approach/method of psychologist)

Presentation:

Each group will present their research. The information will be presented as a PowerPoint presentation. Each group member will have a speaking role. Presentation must include:

*Background Information (birth, death, childhood, schooling)

*Research (what made him/her a famous psychologist; identification of the techniques associated with the perspective; advantages/disadvantages of perspective/approach) *This part should include the most information*

*Connection to today (why is this person still talked about today; is this perspective/approach still relevant?)

*Question for the class

Guidelines

*At least 5 slides long

*At least 3 sources (not including textbook)

*At least 3 pictures should be on the presentation.

There are 2 designated lab days. (August 16th & August 17th *Thursday & Friday*)

Presentations will begin (August 20th - Monday )

Rubric:

20 points: Group Work (Creating/presenting informative PowerPoint presentations, developing broad question)

20 points: Individual Work (Individual research, individual work completed in lab)

40 points: Group Presentation (Correct Information, Overall Presentation *Presentation should be practiced and run smoothly*)

20 points: Individual Presentation (Knowledgeable on information being presented, covers main points correctly)

TOTAL: 100 points
