IC: On behalf of Immaculate Conception Parish, I take this opportunity to thank Margie Wilson for writing a grant proposal to OCP to assist in paying for the new BOSE public address system in our church. OCP is a not-for-profit publishing company that awards grants to parishes, and they notified us on Tuesday, September 1, that we were awarded a grant of $5,000.00. God is good, and OCP is generous. Thanks to God, OCP, and Margie.

IC & SJ: We have resumed Exposition, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction on Thursdays, from 3-to 8 PM, in Immaculate Conception Church, New Germany. Since Our Blessed Lord cannot be left alone on the altar, we need more parishioner-volunteers to visit, pray, and be present to Our Lord Jesus during these hours of exposition. Rosary is prayed at 3;00 pm. We need to implore God to bring a quick and immediate end to the coronavirus.

THE OPENING YOUR HEART BIBLE STUDY will begin on September 8 at 6:30 PM with coffee, cookies, and conversation. The first meeting will be held at a pavilion at the Sossong home, 1275 Swigle Mt. Road. Any questions, please call Andrea at 659-3637.

SJ & IC CCD NOTES: (1) For the 2020-2021 school year, St John and Immaculate Conception CCD program will be combined into one program, and all classes and meetings will be held at Immaculate Conception. (2) All children and teens enrolled in our CCD program will be home schooled. However, because sacramental preparation is essential for 2nd graders and 11th graders, they will be required to attend in-person classroom work with masks at least once a month, besides completing at-home classroom assignments. Classes will be held in Marian Hall. (3) Our 2020-2021 CCD program will begin on Sunday, September 13, at which time all parents will come to the Grove Hall to pick up grade related books and packets with the first assignments, and meet with the grade related CCD teachers to discuss how and when work related assignments will be completed and returned. Since all weekend masses are held at the Grove Hall, book and classroom assignment packets will not be available until 11:30 AM to 12:15 PM. (4) For all who do not have internet service, please call Kim or Stephanie at 495.5241 so alternative means of communication can be discussed and established.

RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE is Tuesday, September 8th from 1:30 PM to 6 PM at New Germany Grove Hall.

OUR KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS council #2275 has awarded 2 - $500.00 Awards to two students in our councils’ service area. Congratulations to Elisabeth Zajdel from St. Michael Parish and a Forest Hills graduate and Tyler Spaid who attend St. Bartholomew’s Parish in Wilmore. Tyler is a graduate of Portage Area High School. Congratulations & God bless to both and best of luck in your studies at St. Francis University and University of Pittsburgh in Johnstown.

THE COMMUNITY LAB BLOOD SCREENING EVENT that was usually held in St. John Church Social hall at the end of October has been canceled because of COVID 19. St. George’s Laboratory in Richland has a “throwback price” for the month of September for multiphasic screenings. Call 814-299-4674 or if interested.

OUR WEEKLY BULLETIN: If anyone would like to receive our weekly bulletin by mail or email, please call Pam at the rectory 495-5241. Copies of the bulletin are also placed in the gathering space of both churches, and are at the Grove Hall for weekend Masses. Our bulletin is also available on our website and look under weekly bulletin.
