My office hours and contact information are listed above.Email: The best way to contact me is via the course email. I will make every attempt to respond to your e-mail within 24-48 hours of receipt. If you do not receive a response from me within 48 hours or the matter is urgent, send me an email to my UTEP email. Be sure to email from your UTEP student account and please put the course number in the subject line. In the body of your e-mail, clearly state your question. Discussion Board: If you have a question that you believe other students may also have, please post it in the Course Questions discussion board Forum in Blackboard. Feel free to respond to other students’ questions if you have a helpful response.Announcements: Check the Blackboard announcements frequently for any updates, deadlines, or other important messages.Incomplete gradesStudents may receive a grade of an “I” for incomplete work only in exceptional circumstances and with the approval of the instructor. Students who expect to take an incomplete must develop (with the instructor) a written plan including a timeline for completing the course assignments. Although University policy requires completion of all required assignments within one year, the SON policy may be more stringent, and the instructor may require completion of course requirements within a shorter time period.Clinical ClearanceAll students must meet administrative and clinical clearance as outlined in the Nursing Graduate Student Handbook before starting clinic rotation. Background checks are required upon admission to the Graduate Program and repeated every 5 years or sooner, with noncontiguous enrollment in graduate coursework. Students must complete clinical and health clearances annually. Students can contact the Compliance Coordinator for further details.Lori De Los SantosCompliance CoordinatorSchool of Nursing (SON) – Graduate ProgramPhone: 915-747-8293Email: ldeloss@utep.eduPracticum ActivitiesPreceptor: A clinical preceptor facilitates student learning in a manner prescribed by a signed written agreement between the educational institution, preceptor, and affiliate agency (as applicable).
