SPMS BOOK CLUB: All students in grades 6 through 8 are invited to join us for?online book discussions,?activities,?and literary-themed events throughout the school year.? We are seeking students who will come up with news ideas for the morning news show.? Students will interview, write articles and news clips, design layouts and report the news for the video announcements.? We also need behind the scenes directing, design, and editing.? We are excited about this new club and welcome all SPMS students interested.? Thursdays 3:05-4:10 pm/ Mrs. Bollino, Mrs. Clements, Room B112 SPRING MUSICAL: Open to all SPMS students. Auditions will take place early January. ?Results will be posted shortly after. ? Rehearsals will take place from January thru April on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday after school from 3:00-6:00 and the occasional weekend as needed. ? Shows take place April 13-15. The first rehearsal for students will be announced when the audition dates are posted. ?Parents are required to attend a meeting on Tuesday, January 16th,?at 7:00 pm. The musical is a big event that can't happen without volunteer effort. ?Parent volunteering?is mandatory. Student delegates must be able to attend SGAmeetings twice a month with the first meeting on September 26. One meeting is during the school day and one meeting is after school. Delegates must want to be active members and future leaders. Students are involved in SGA at the school, county and state levels. Interested students should stay after school for the first meeting on September 28. This activity is of no cost to students, except for overnight stays. Tutors will need to attend a onetime training in media on October 5 at 3:05 pm. Please see Mrs. Conrad to receive training at school. NJHS students can use the service hours in tutoring as part of their commitment to NJHS. Students who would like to be tutored can attend tutoring sessions as often as they need them but do need to get parent permission. Permission slips can be picked up in the Guidance Department.
