Dear Parents,If you have not gone to the school to pick up packets, you can do the activities on this revised packet.If you have gone by the school just finish up that packet.That we are working on this week: Beginning sounds to letter “Ss”, “Aa”; sight words: see, I, like, the, and; verbs (action words), parts of a book (front of book, back of book, spine, author, illustrator, title, and title page). In writing we are working on things that begin with letter s, a, write the alphabet letters, write first name, and draw pictures that begin with letter s and a. In math we are writing numbers 1 to 10, counting orally to 50, and working on more /greater than, less than, fewer and same amount or equal to. In science we are working on the 5 senses.You do not have to do all the activities, pick two or three from each subject area for that day. If you do not have a computer but just a phone, or your internet is limited just work with your child on the concepts for that day, use what you have around your home to help your child learn that concept. Have him/her to smell the delicious aroma of the popcorn. Have him/her touch the popcorn (what does it feel like) and then have him/her taste the popcorn. Then have them look at the kernels that did not pop that is left in the bag. 10/6/20ReadingWriting Math ScienceTuesdayWe will be working on this week: letter “Ss” (beginning sound)Sight words: see, like, the, and, I, parts of a book, verbs -Watch video for sight word see alphabet concentration video on parts of a book sticky notes, index cards or pieces of paper and label a book, tape the word title to the title of the book, tape the word spine on the spine of the book, then do author, illustrator and back cover (review these parts the rest of the week)-Have your child go outside and do 7 action words – if they don’t know any action words, have him/her watch this video will work on: Letter s, sight words: I, like, the, see, and-Decorate your name, get a piece of paper and write your name in the middle of the word and decorate by coloring / drawing your favorite things around your name and then tape your name in your bedroom-Find things in the house that begins with the beginning sound “Ss” draw these items on a piece of paper then label /write the name of the item under your picture (with the help of an adult)-Write the sight words: see, like, I, the, and, on index cards or pieces of paper. Have an adult take the words and tape them around the house, then you go find the words and say the name on the card. (when you find all the sight words, have the adult to hide them again)-If you have play dough or made play dough last week – make your alphabet letters out of playdough We will be working on this week:Review numbers 1 to 10, work on same amount, greater than/more, less than/fewer. -Practice saying numbers 1 to 25.-Watch the number video the game more/less/same a game to work on more (greater than), less (fewer than). You will need 11 index cards or pieces of paper and write the numbers 0 to 10 paper/index cards. You will need 20 blocks, or pennies, or buttons, etc.Then mix up the number cards place in face down on the floor, turn over two cards and place that many objects under the number card – talk about which has more, which has less, We will work on the 5 senses this week. -Watch this video I Can See BinocularsMaterials needed:2 toilet rolls, glue or tape, hole punch, string/ribbon, twine, markers, Instructions: Take two toilet paper rolls and attach them together side by side using tape/glue/or staple them. Decorate your binoculars. Then use a hole punch to make holes on the outside of each roll. Need 3 cups, with sticky note on one equal, Greater, Less, Mix up the cards turn over two cards if they are the same they go into the equal cup. Or not same place the highest card in the greater cup and the lowest card in the lesser cup We will work on the 5 senses this week. -Listen to a story Sound BottlesYou will need: Clean water bottles and lid, a funnel, hot glue or?krazy glue, small objects: small pasta, dry beans, lentils, rice, beads, pop corn kernels, gravel, small shells, paper clips.Directions:Use the funnel to fill each water bottle a little less than halfway with the small objects.Either krazy glue or hot glue the cap tightly on the bottle.Let the bottles sit for an hour to give the glue time to dry.Make sure there is no glue left from either where you removed the label or the cap.Time to shake it up!10/8/20ReadingWriting Math ScienceThursdayWe are working on:Beginning Sound Aa, verbs, parts of a book, review sight words: see, I, like, the, and- Guess what begin with Aa a video Parts of a Book finished watching the video, get a book and name the parts of the book -Hide and Seek Sight Word Game You will need 5 solo cups or 5 plastic cups (If you have solo cups on the outside of the cup write the sight words on the cup) If you have plastic cups from the cabinet, write the sight word on a sticky note or piece of paper and tape to the outside of the plastic cup. You will need a penny, block, rock, or bean, a small object. Place the small object under one of cups, shuffle the cups around (make sure your child has his/her eyes close) when done shuffling the cups have your child open their eyes and guess which cup has the object under it, the child must say the word on the cup before revealing if the object is under that cup. We are working on:Writing alphabet letters -Make letters from nature Find the alphabet right outside. Choose natural objects that already look like letters, or arrange them to look like them.?-Jumping on WordsNeed paper several pieces of paper and marker Write the sight words on each piece of paper: see, the, and, like, I (write each word two times) so you will have 10 papers to place around on the floor. Jump on the word and then say the word and then jump on to the next word. We are working on numbers to 10, counting orally to 50 and more/less, greater than/less than. -Practice writing numbers 1 to 10 on the white board or paper -Watch numbers video counting to 50 - along with the video-Play this game – compare numbers 2 numbersNeed playing cards, without jack, queen, king, and ace and small objects: beans, buttons, pennies, blocks, (about 20)Instructions: Mix up the cards and lay face down on the floor, pick up two cards and turn it over.
