Some aspects of this position may change over time, according to the Tribe’s needs.SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Elders Coordinator will be responsible for the planning, development, general Management of the operations of the Elders Title VI program. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring the quality of services provided to eligible tribal members, ensuring the coordination of the day-to-day operations of the Elders Title VI program, and identify, recommend, and implement changes that will improve the delivery of services. The primary purpose of this position is to foster and assist in the increased social well-being of all Aroostook Band of Micmacs (ABM) Tribal Elders.EDUCATION: Minimum High School Diploma/GED. Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred.EXPERIENCE: At least five (5) years of experience in working with elderly. Experience with program planning, development, and implementation is a plus.LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS: Valid driver's license.SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES (SKA) REQUIRED: Excellent organizational, and oral and written communication skills. Excellent "people" skills including patience and discretion.Proficiency using computerized data management systems, and other basic computer skills. Ability to work independently, and as part of a team.WORKING CONDITIONS: Regular office/kitchen environment. Some outreach work including, but not limited to, home visits and community meal sites. The position requires travel throughout Aroostook County, as well as out of area travel for required trainings and meetings.FUNCTIONS/TASKS:Administer the programs, functions, services and activities of the ABM -Elders Title VI program.Supervise the work of subordinate staff comprising the Elders Title VI program. Is responsible for: evaluating the worker's performance through the completion and submission of Annual Performance Evaluations, and 90-day Probationary Evaluations (as necessary and in consultation with the program director); disciplinary procedures; leave authorization; verifying time-cards; processing sub-contractor's pay requests, etc., in accordance with established ABM personnel, procurement and compliance policies and standards.Ensures subordinate staff maintain a safe, secure, sanitary and organized work, and service environment, when serving and cleaning-up after meals, and when transporting elders.Develop a nutritional program in conformance with Elders Title VI program standards.Planning, development, coordination and implementation of congregate meals, including ongoing assessment and evaluation of the meals-service component.Planning, development, coordination and implementation of the "Home Care Provider," (respite services), component. Provide respite to in-home caregivers of eligible tribal members, upon request.Along with all other members of the "Elder's Circle," and in conjunction with pprogram director, plans and implements the general goals and objectives of the Elders Title VI program that is aimed at improving the quality of services, increasing the scope of services, and maximizing the generation of resources.Implement the Elders Title VI program operational budget in conjunction with the program director. Processes and maintains vouchers in the Microix system.Maintain vendor files where necessary.Seeks and secures Grant Funding where appropriate, submits progress-narrative reports to the program director; and in conjunction with program director and Chief Financial Officer, provides necessary data for the completion, and timely submission, of Financial Status Reports where applicable. Ensures ABM, and any other funding agency reporting requirements are met within established timelines.Develop appropriate partnerships within Tribe, with other Tribes, and Non-tribal Services components aimed at further enhancing program objectives. Develops and implements Memorandum of Agreements where necessary.Maintain resource pool of community-based agencies that provide services typically unavailable through the ABM Elders Title VI program, or other tribal services components.Oversees the coordination of all other tribal program resources to assure communication and coordination of services among staff members and departments, and makes referrals to appropriate sources. Monitor referrals to ensure that proper follow-up action was assumed in an acceptable time frame.Develop a protocol for specifically anticipated types of emergency or urgent matters requiring intervention, and coordinate needed services through the Indian Health Services, HUD Housing, and other services components available through the Tribe, or from outside servicing organizations.Maintain current knowledge of, and ensures compliance with, laws and regulations that may impact the Elders Title VI program, policies, and standards.Through various outreach methodologies, increase Tribal community awareness of program goals and objectives, including proper means of accessing the elders-services anizes and sponsors elders fund-raising, and other activities for the benefit of the Tribe.Attend in-service, and out-of-area workshops and training sessions, to increase competency in serving tribal elders. Where appropriate, accesses trainings available through other ABM components.Serve as technical advisor to the program director and other pertinent administrative staff relative to elders-services issues and needs.Reports to the program director of significant findings relative to his/her program, matters posing imminent threat or danger, or acts of wrongdoing, that come to his/her attention during the performance of official duties.Maintain strict adherence to the Privacy Act of 1974, and signs Confidentiality Statement.Review and abide by the ABM Personnel Policies Manual.All other duties as assigned by supervisor.EVALUATIONFeedback will be practiced on an on-going basis and the notes will be attached to your personnel file.
