CHECKLIST AND INFO FOR STUDENT CHECK-IN

PREPARE TO BE CHALLENGED PHYSICALLY, MENTALLY AND EMOTIONALLY.

❑ Hit the ground running.

❑ Do not expect a gentlemen’s course

❑ Arrive in top physical condition

❑ Work on swimming if you are weak (treading water, survival strokes)

❑ STUDY AHEAD – every major topic in the POI can be accessed via the website at tbs.usmc.mil

REPORTING IN:

❑ REPORT TO TBS NO LATER THAN 2359 ON THE DAY OF YOUR CHECK IN

❑ Park on the Parade Deck. It is located behind Ramer Hall

❑ Reporting-In Uniform: Service Alphas (if you do not own a set, check in wearing a conservative suit and tie)

❑ Bring a set of desert and green digital cammies (WITH REAL nametapes and rank of insignia worn properly).

❑ If you have any questions on proper uniform wearing, refer to:

WHERE TO REPORT:

❑ Monday - Friday 0700-1630

o M Company Offices

▪ 2nd Deck of O'Bannon Hall (look for Marine Federal Credit Union, go to the 2nd deck, & walk down the hall)

❑ Monday - Friday 1630-0659 OR weekends

o TBS Officer of the Day (Heywood Hall)

▪ Find the Iron Mike ("Follow Me" statue), walk in the front doors, 1st hall on the left, 1st door on the right

HAVE IN YOUR POSSESSION FOR ADMINISTRATION INPROCESSING:

❑ OQR (except OCC’ers; OCS will deliver to TBS)

❑ NAVMC 763 (except OCC’ers; OCS will deliver to TBS)

❑ Medical Records (except OCC’ers; OCS will deliver to TBS)

❑ Dental Records (except OCC’ers; OCS will deliver to TBS)

❑ Orders (Original + 2 copies)

❑ ANY modifications to original orders

❑ DD-214 (“Separation” or “Discharge” papers, when applicable for prior enlisted Marines)

❑ Receipts for travel claims

❑ Proof of Degree (this can be a letter from the college registrar if the Marine doesn't have a diploma or transcript)

❑ Married Marines only:

o Current In-Town Address

o Previous Dependant Address

o Marriage certificates

o Children’s birth certificates

❑ SF-86 Hard Copy and on disk (if available) You must possess a security clearance prior to reporting to TBS.

TO RELIEVE THE PRESSURE OF INPROCESSING:

❑ If you are UNDER 26 years, complete the driver's improvement course:

o marinenet.usmc.mil (register here to logon)

▪ Course catalog --> Annual & Required Training Courses --> Driver Improvement Course

o Print the certificate and bring to TBS

o This is required to get your base stickers

❑ GET DIRECT DEPOSIT!!! (MANDATORY). If you wait until you get to TBS to sign up for DD, bring:

o Checking Account Number

o Bank Routing Number

o Do not close out your account if you have DD with the bank until you arrive at TBS.

**If possible, Get a military ID for yourself, your spouse & kids prior to checking in**

FOR VEHICLE REGISTRATION:

❑ ID Card

❑ Driver's License

❑ Proof of Insurance

❑ Registration (if you are driving a POV not in your name, you will need a notarized letter from the owner authorizing you to operate that POV)

❑ Driver's Improvement Course Certificate (if under 26)

❑ State Inspection Card (if the state the POV is registered in requires one)

❑ TBS temporary Department of Defense tags will be issued to the entire group shortly after the company picks up. If you are going to be in Mike Company for a long time, you may obtain a temporary tag from Mainside Provost Marshall Office prior to pickup.

❑ POV stickers are issued on Mainside at Little Hall and will no longer be available at PMO.

❑ Motorcycles riders MUST wear: Boots, pants, gloves, and reflective vest while onboard military installations, ¾ length or longer sleeves are also required when not in uniform.

❑ DOD stickers for motorcycles require a motorcycle safety-driving course.

Pet Registration

❑ Personnel residing in Family Housing aboard MCCDC must register all pets with PMO. Pets must be insured.

Personal Weapons

❑ Personnel residing in Family Housing aboard MCCDC must register all weapons with PMO.

❑ Personnel residing in the BOQ must check their personal weapons into the TBS armory.

Forms

MAKE A COPY OF ALL FORMS YOU ARE GIVEN AND KEEP ON FILE AT YOUR ROOM OR HOUSE.

UNIFORMS:

❑ You are NOT required to have any more uniforms than what you already have from OCS. There is time in the schedule at TBS for uniform fittings. If you want to get a headstart, there are two uniform vendors:

o The Marine Shop (located in Q-Town)

o MCCS (located at TBS)

o Uniform fittings:

o Alphas, Charlies, Blues, Sword and accessories

[Ask sales person about using the interest free Deferred Payment Plan (DPP) uniform option and get your uniforms now if you are able.]

❑ Necessary items for TBS:

o Green sweats (sweatshirt with USMC on front, no lettering on back)

o Green shorts and swim trunks, whistle, flashlight.

TMO

❑ Ensure your TMO shipment is received and unpacked BEFORE you check in to TBS. Once you check in, there will be very little time for this.

MISC

❑ Recommend bringing $2000 in cash for those married Marines’ move in expenses. This should cover the deposit and first months rent. Note that the deposit is usually equal to 50-100% the first months rent.

❑ Physicals- you must have a current physical.

❑ If you have an air contract, you must have a current flight physical that will not expire during the six months you are training at TBS.

It is essential all officers report to TBS with the above items in their possession or that they have completed the above requirements. Failure to do so may result in missed training and could also delay when an officer commences training.
