JOB DESCRIPTIONJOB TITLE: ACCOUNTING MANAGERFLSA Status: Non-Exempt Supervisor: DirectorEmployee Name: SUMMARY: Manages the Accounting team and is also the primary cemetery contact with the Diocese regarding accounting and human resources. This individual along with the Director establishes the standard procedures that the Accounting department will follow so that the team adheres to GAAP. This position requires an individual who understands accounting controls and management concepts. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned. Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for the users and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures.Prepare all supporting information for the annual review with the approved external auditor.Document and maintain complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions.Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll. Reconcile bank and investment accounts, and manage cash flow.Review monthly results and implement monthly variance reporting as compared to budget and prior year.Develop and implement policies and procedures as required to ensure that personnel and financial information is secure.Assist the Director and the Board of Directors with financial reporting as required at Board meetings and provide advice to support the decision-making process.Account for fixed assets including proper recording of additions, retirements and depreciation.Assist employees with health insurance open enrollment with the assistance from Diocese Human Resources.Function as liaison between the Cemetery and the Diocese organizations.Onboard new employees by completing W-4, IT 2104 and I-9 forms.Prepare payroll record for submission to the Diocese.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.MATH ABILITY: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.REASONING ABILITY:Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
