Weekly Spelling ActivitiesEach week choose 1 of the below activities to complete using your list words. You must complete all the activities at least once before you can attempt them again. If you are stuck ask the teacher for help. You do not have to go in order and you can complete more than one activity per week if you have time. Don’t forget to mark all the activities you do off your checklist.Write all your words in bubble writing. Magazine words- Find as many of your words as you can in a magazine. Cut them out and stick in your Literacy book.Create a find a word using your list words- Swap with a partner to solve.Categories – how many of your list words can fit into these categories. Note – some may fit in more than one!1. Nouns 2. Adjectives 3. Verbs 4. Adverbs 5. Make a noise 6. Are useful 7. Can be touched 8. Can smell 9. Can be eaten Chalk/whiteboard – write all your words, read to your teacherCloze – choose 5 list words and write a short story. Underneath rewrite the short story and omit the list words.Codes – make up a code then write 5 of your list words using your code.Create a Game – make a game that can be played with a partner or small group using all your list words.Dictionary Search – select 3 list words and find them in a dictionary. Write the word that comes before and the word that comes after your list word.Hang Man – play 2 games with a friend using your list wordsNoughts and Crosses – play 3 games of noughts and crosses. Marks (noughts and crosses) are only placed when a word is spelt correctly! Partner Spelling – spell the words out loud to a partnerPictures – select 5 words and illustrate themPlurals – select 5 words and add ‘s’ or ‘es’ to change to plural.Questions – select 3 words and write sentences as questions. Remember to use the ‘?’ at the end!Rhyming Words – choose 5 list words and write as many rhyming words for eachSmall Words – choose your longest list word. See how many little words you can make out of the word. Letters can be mixed up.Target – 10 or more words.Syllables – use a slash (/ or --) and break all your words into syllables or chunks.Who am I? – select 3 list words and write a riddle for each.Word Building – select 5 of your list words and build on the list words to make new words. Remember a dictionary may help with this!Word Poster – create a mini poster of all your spelling wordsWord Shapes – select 5 list words and create the shape of each word with boxesWord Value – write 5 words and work out the value of them if a=1, b=2, c=3, z=26 e.g. great = 51Spell out your words while doing star jumps- One jump per letter.Write a poem or song using as many of your words as you can. ................
