Definite Articles:
In English, we really only have one definite article: the word “THE.”
In Spanish, we have 4 definite articles:
|Masculine singular = |Feminine singular = |
|Masculine plural = |Feminine plural = |
The girl = ____________________ The girls _____________________The boy ___________________________ the boys ___________________The cookie _____________________
The cookies __________________ The man _________________ The men ________________
Indefinite Articles
You use indefinite articles when you want to use the word “a” or “some” instead of “the.” In English, “the cookie” refers to a specific cookie that you might be looking at, whereas “a cookie” is INDEFINITE because you do not specify which one.
|Masculine singular = |Feminine singular = |
|Masculine plural = |Feminine plural = |
Try these:
A girl = ____________________ Some girls ____________________A boy ___________________________ some boys ___________________a cookie _____________________
Some cookies __________________ a man _________________some men ________________

Adjective Agreement
In English, we describe nouns using adjectives. In English, the adjective comes before the thing you’re describing:
Ex: The red shirt, the big house, the pretty cat. In Spanish, you put the adjective after the noun, and you also have to make it match the noun in gender and number. So instead of the big ugly dogs, you say something like “the dogs bigs uglies.”
Here are your steps for adjective agreement:
1. Decide the _________________ of the noun (either _________________ or ___________________).
2. Decide the ____________________ of the noun(either _________________ or ___________________).
3. Form the adjective to ________________________.
4. Put the adjective ___________________ the noun.
Making nouns plural:
a. nouns that end in a vowel: add –s
b. nouns that end in a consonant: add –es
c. nouns that end in –z: change –z to –c and add –es
Making adjectives plural:
a. adjectives that end in o = add ‘s’ for masculine plural, change ‘o’ to ‘a’ for feminine singular, and change ‘o’ to ‘as’ for feminine plural.
b. Adjectives that end in e = stay the same for both singulars, add ‘s’ for both plurals.
c. Adjectives that end in consonant = stay the same for both singulars, add ‘es’ for both plurals.
d. Adjectives that end in ‘ador’ = add ‘es’ for masculine plural, add ‘a’ for feminine singular, add ‘as’ for feminine plural.

13. SER with adjectives
When you want to describe someone with an adjective, many times you want to use the words “is” or “are” to describe them.
You need to use SER when you want to combine a person with an adjective describing them.
The form of SER you use should match your ___________________.
