Job title:Employee Relations and Policy OfficerReports to: HR Manager - Employee Relations Department:Human ResourcesLocation:MoulsecoombGrade:6Purpose of the role: To manage and co-ordinate the administrative processes for employee relations activity in the HR Department which includes pay reviews, promotions processes, trade union consultation and negotiation meetings.To support the HR Manager – Employee Relations with the proactive co-ordination and implementation of employment policies. To be responsible for providing specialist employee relations advice and support to the Head of Employee Relations in relation to project work and day-to-day employee relations activities which will contribute to the overall delivery of the HR strategy. Line Management Responsibility for:Administrators – Employee RelationsMain areas of responsibility: To manage the administrative support for?all pay reviews, and promotion processes for academic staff, including the Professorial Board, ensuring all processes run smoothly.To co-ordinate and ensure the recording and monitoring of data relating to promotion process outcomes, noting trends, and highlighting areas of concern, providing reports on outcomes including recommendations as required.To undertake research and support activity relating to employment law updates, terms and conditions of service, and any other ad hoc projects as appropriate, researching best practice, making recommendations, and drafting updated documents as required.To manage and co-ordinate the administrative support to formal and informal trade union meetings ensuring they operate efficiently and follow up on actions ensuring any outstanding work is flagged up as appropriate.To proactively support the HR Manager – Employee Relations with the co-ordination, development and implementation of new employment policies and undertake any research associated with the development and/or terms and conditions of service, providing briefings and suggested changes and recommendations to ensure best practice. To foster and support a cooperative employee relations climate through effective engagement and liaison with trade union colleagues, assisting with the management of trade union activities and providing assistance to HR staff and managers on policy updates and trade union activities.Manage and develop the Administrators – Employee Relations and allocate appropriate workload to support the team.To review and identify ways to improve administration processes.To support the Head of Employee Relations and HR Manager – Employee Relations with specific project work and day-to-day employee relations activities which will contribute to the overall delivery of HR strategy. To provide the Employee Relations team with information/data e.g., Joint Negotiation Committee updates, that support clear, consistent advice to managers across the university.
