Betty’s replacement is Sal Fiorentino, once in place this will create a second vacancy on the Commission.Approval of Minutes from June 20, 2018 – Jeff Beardsley motioned to approve the minutes. Sal Fiorentino seconded the motion all approved.Agenda Item IV: Topic moved to the end, so Kevin can be present in person or on the phone to answer mission Strategic Plan: Discussed why State Fiscal year is being used, Strategic plan for FY19, what can feasible be accomplished. Maureen Fradianni – Brought up items that needed to be followed up on example, education. A request to put follow up items on a living document to be shared. Cheyenne Pasquale – Requested critical issue that needed to be added, Example accurate percentage of residents that are deaf or hard of hearing or speech impaired. Goals and Objectives by priority: Goal #1Priorities-Objective 1.7,1.1,1.2,1.4,1.3,1.5,1.6. Goal #2 Priorities-Objective 2.2,2.1(ADSD responsible). Goal #3 Priorities-Objective 3.1,3.3,3.2. Goal #4 Priorities- Email address in progress. Work groups assigned: #1 Healthcare – Jeff, Betty #2 Education – Maureen, Eric, Allison, Jeff #3 Employment – Sal, Betty #4 Resource – Eli, Chey, Allison #5 Outreach _ Maureen, Eric #6 Emergency Response – Kim, Jeff, Mike Interpreter Group - ADSD Eli Schwartz – Discussion about resources needed to support and accomplish the goals the Commission has set. Betty Hammond - Discussion about recommendations for emergency responders’ responsibilities during a crisis. Presentation from the Deaf Center on Nevada (DCN), Kevin Carter, Executive Director of DCN introduced Ciera, the Director over Adult Case Management and Summer, the Director over Youth Case Management. Cierra – Year to date numbers for Adult Advocacy program, New Client count, Recurring Clients and Referrals. Independent Living Specialist and job duties assigned, New office locations for both North and South. 18% Increase in caseloads from previous year. Summer – New Clients, wait list for youth for IEP’s and for a Deaf Mentor. Looking to hire a Mentor in Las Vegas soon. Kevin – Decision on moving office locations and what each location will provide, case load perspectives and new Outreach programs in the North. Concerns regarding State Agencies unaware of the Deaf Mentoring program. Yearend numbers, client VP calls, equipment pieces passed out, and outreach workshops. ALS classes offered outside the grant.Annual Reports: Jeff - Motioned to approve corrections to the annual reports, Sal seconded the motion. Motion approved. Annual reports will be distributed after the Governor’s office has approved them. No Legislative discussions until after November’s election.Approval of Agenda Items for Next Meeting: NEIS, Deaf Services State level Emergency Response Official Workgroup follow-up DCN Report CAS program updatesMeeting Date set: October 24,2018Public Comment – Lead K Founders request for two representatives from each state.Adjournment – the meeting adjourned at 1:55 pm ................
