English Language Acquisition Program E.L.A. Classes

ALC Spring Catalog February 2022 through June 2022

English Language Acquisition (E.L.A.) classes are available for adult non-native speakers of English. Six levels of classes offered including: reading, writing, speaking, and listening. New students will need to schedule an interview; students will enter the program based on class availability, pending a valid test score on program assessments. If classes are full, students will be placed on a waiting list and contacted when openings occur. A valid, current government-issued picture ID and proof of residency are required at the interview.

The Adult Learning Center does not provide childcare or transportation.

2021 -- 2022 E.L.A. PROGRAM INTERVIEW INFORMATION

Interviews are held at the Adult Learning Center--located inside Renaissance Academy at 5100 Cleveland Street. Interviews are by appointment only for select testing. Please call 757-648-6050 to schedule an interview.

CLASS SCHEDULES

DAY Adult Learning Center September 13 to May 24 Monday through Thursday

EVE Adult Learning Center September 20 to May 23 Monday & Wednesday

Students are expected to participate in end of year

counseling.

September 21 to May 24 Tuesday & Thursday

CLASS COSTS Fees are not refundable

VIRGINIA BEACH RESIDENTS $50 registration fee

NON-RESIDENTS (living in other cities) $100 registration/non-resident fee

Textbooks may range from $25 to $100 depending upon class level

Classes are held at the Adult Learning Center located at 5100 Cleveland St., Virginia Beach, VA 23462.

Please note: ALC students and staff will be expected to abide by health mitigation strategies such as wearing masks, social distancing, etc. Please check the ALC website (alc.) for reopening plan updates.
