During this time, youth share the health challenges they and their peers face, generate ideas and solutions with support from adult support staff, and create Team Action Plans to implement in their schools and communities. KTI uses a variety of leadership and youth development training styles including workshops, seminars, and activities. The National Teen Institute model also encourages having fun through creative expression while building new relationships.Training Dates and 2012 Summer Camp SessionJune 9th – 12th; July 14th-18thLocations: Austin Peay University, TN; University of Louisville, KYJob DescriptionsJob Description: Health Leader (2 positions available)Health Leaders know how to balance having fun and being responsible. They are expert communicators, creative, friendly and thoughtful. Health leaders are assigned to a group of 10 teens and adults during the Institute and are primarily responsible for facilitating group discussions and activities. Secondary responsibilities include event planning.Responsibilities include:Leading group activities such as energizers, icebreakers and team building games.Facilitating thoughtful discussions such as debriefing sessions after plenary sessions and workshops, and helping guide groups through the Community Action Plan process.Serving as positive role models in all aspects of health and wellness, such as regarding drugs, alcohol, healthy relationships, environmental care, emotional health, self-care, etc.Attending bi-monthly meetings in April, May, June, July for training and event planning.Attending 4 days of training at the Tennessee Teen Institute between June 9th – 12.Attending all activities for the Kentucky Teen Institute between July 14th and pleting other tasks as assigned.Pay: $50 stipend for 4 months - April, May, June, July; free travel to TN and training.Job Description: Program Leader (1 position available)Program Leaders know how to coordinate an event and lead a group. Program leaders are organized, creative problem solvers who also have group facilitation skills. Program leaders have two responsibilities: 1. event planning and coordination for KTI; and 2. the same group facilitation responsibilities as a Health Leader.Responsibilities include:Up to ten hours a week planning and coordinating the event details for the Kentucky Teen Institute summer summit.
