There are numerous disciplines of engineering: civil, mechanical, electrical, biomedical, industrial, aerospace, & many others. Engineer’s salaries are among the highest of all college graduates. Santa Ana College offers several degree options: certificate, associate degree, or university transfer.

ASSOCIATE DEGREE IN ENGINEERING

This degree provides a basic program of engineering course work for the student planning for the A.S. or planning to transfer to a university to continue studies in engineering.

ENGINEERING DEGREEThe associate degree curriculum in the engineering program is primarily intended to provide a basic program of engineering courses for students planning to transfer to four-year college or university engineering programs.

COMPUTER AIDED DRAFTING & DESIGN

Comprehensive degree & certificate programs in engineering computer-aided drafting (CAD) and design.

Unit requirements for degree/certificate: Tot: 22

CIVIL TECHNOLOGY

Provides background for employment in a civil engineering office or for field work in support of a professional surveyor or engineer.

Unit requirements for degree/ certificate: Tot: 23-24

DRAFTING & DESIGN

This program has 2 options to prepare students for employment as an engineering drafter or designer.

OPTION 1: ENGINEERING DRAFTING & DESIGN

This option focuses on mechanical, aerospace, biomedical, & industrial engineering fields.

Unit requirements for degree/certificate: Tot: 23.5 – 24.5

OPTION 2: AEC DRAFTING & DESIGN (Architectural, Civil Engineering, Construction)

This option focuses on architectural, civil engineering, & construction fields, & has a strong drafting emphasis.

Unit requirements for degree/certificate: Tot: 27

MECHANICAL 3D SOLID-MODELING CAD CERTIFICATE

This certificate develops competency in solid modeling CAD software used in mechanical, aerospace, industrial, & biomedical engineering fields.

Unit requirements for certificate: Tot: 15.5

ENERGY ANALYSIS

Trains students for work in energy analysis & auditing – Title 24 energy calculations, or work for utility or private companies that do energy analysis & auditing.

Unit requirements for degree/ certificate: Tot: 17

ENGINEERING MECHATRONICS DEGREE PROGRAM

Programs provide strong emphasis on hands-on design, fabrication, and testing; and leads to employment as a mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering technician

CIVIL 3D

Training includes 3D land development/site design software,

environmental design, transportation design, and geospatial information.

Unit requirements for certificate: Tot: 11.5

AutoCAD 2D Basics

2D Computer Drafting Basics is a program for learning to create and edit technical drawings, as well as annotate designs.

Unit requirements for certificate: Tot: 8

3D CAD Skill Builder

This program is for students who have prior CAD experience and seek to learn 3D skills. Prepare for work in basic 3D or parametric 3D, or for further study in engineering majors.

SUSTAINABLE BUILDING OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT

Studies are focused towards career technical education training of students in sustainable methods for improving the operational performance of offices, schools, hospitals, and other residential and commercial buildings while working as Building Commissioning Professionals, Operations Professionals, Facility Managers and supporting positions.

SUSTAINABLE Facilities Skill Builder

Students learn specialized Green HVAC, Renewable Energy & Building Automation Skills.

SURVEYING SKILL BUILDER

either to continue studies towards a more comprehensive Civil Technology certificate, or A.S. degree or transfer into a B.S. program.
