The University of Northern British Columbia, in conjunction with the Department of Psychology, invites applications for two tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor with an anticipated start date of January 1, 2017. The Department’s mandate is to foster understanding of issues relevant to the north, especially the understanding of human health, human development, and social well-being. We are currently in a period of renewal and welcome applications from candidates who wish to contribute to the planning and implementation of a refreshed mandate and associated curriculum review and redevelopment.

We are seeking applicants with research and teaching competencies in two or more of the following areas: biopsychology, cognitive neuroscience, neuropsychology, health psychology, clinical psychology, psychopathology, and quantitative psychology. Applicants with specialization in related areas of Psychology are welcome to apply. Appointment to rank will be commensurate with experience.

Candidates should possess a PhD in Psychology, or be near completion, and have established a strong record (or show potential) in a research area that complements the Department’s mandate and strengthens our research-oriented doctoral program. The Department of Psychology has sophisticated psychophysiological measurement devices and teaching clinic space available for research and teaching purposes. Candidates who conduct clinical or applied work with adult clients are encouraged to apply and will find it easy to set up a community practice given a current shortage of professional psychologists in Northern BC.

Located in north-central British Columbia, Prince George is a city of 80,000 people with broad cultural, educational, and recreational amenities. Prince George is a friendly, family oriented community, with a wide range of quality schools and a variety of affordable housing.
