Automotion & Tweeks are two good catalogs to have. Performance Products and AJUSA are two other you might be interested in.

My company, Trackside Products, can usually supply any item found in these catalogs for a slightly better price. Let me know if any specific items you're interested in and the best price you've found. We are alwasys looking for better sources to sell to our customers.

For example, Vertex seems to have the best prices around for clutch packages. I had a customer with a 944 Turbo last week. I was able to beat up my supplier enough to sell the clutch package for a little less than Vertex and still make a little money.

I can tell you that Motor Works has a more than excellent reputation here in San Diego. I get into their shop regularly. As a matter of fact they just magnafluxed my 356SC crankshalf, polished the crank, balanced the engine, surfaced the flywheel.

I've known them for years. Most of the "good" Porsche independents around her also use them for items that require "the right shop." Their prices are sometimes a little more expensive but worth it.

If you went through their shop you're likely to see engines laying around from a 300SL or some 30's car I've never heard of.

I could give you a list as long as my arm of PCA members here who've used them for years. I believe they can nicasil 944 cylinders as well.

As far as their seeming rude on the phone. Well, it's probably the Italian accents and being involved with Ferrari decades ago.... but that's just a rumor.

Last year they had a 928 motor in there sent from a shop, well, I'd better not say. I think Motor Works is a little known secret to some motor builders when they need something never done before done right.

944 bearings are shared with VW's. I believe the front bearings on the 944 are the same as the rear bearings on the rabbit.

My friend says the steel a-arms look the same as those on his rabbit, I don't know about the bushings..

It seems that (info from the Koni data sheets) that the red Koni front 944 inserts are the same as the Volkswagen 1303 strut part.

I have used a thermoswitch from a VW - and it worked perfectly.

Late model DME & KLR Autothority Stage 2 chips (28 pin) with banjo bolt boost adjustment w/ 145 jet (I think should make 1 bar w/ stock wastegate). You can install different Weber (DGV or DCOE?) jets in it for different boost levels. $225 for both, buyer pays shipping (shouldn't cost much). I think this is less than 1/2 the cost of new. Subject: Electrical Problem and "New" parts source, 1/2/02

I pulled into a gas station and noticed a wisp of smoke coming from the head light switch. I turned the car off, grabbed the screwdriver from the tool kit and removed the head light switch. Well, actually the switch came apart because the switch base had welded to the socket.

With the "fire" out I drove back home (I was only a couple of blocks away from the house), shut the car off and proceeded to remove the remains of the switch from the harness.

Apparently the resistor for the dimmer knob shorted out, and the resulting heat did a number on the plastic bits.

I did some e-shopping, and the "normal" suppliers (Tweeks, Vertex, Performance Products, etc.) want anywhere from $50.00 to $60.00 for this switch.

Much to my surprise I found the switch for $36.90! If you click 'Suspension', then 'Strut', the 'Strut Insert', you get a list of strut inserts for an early model, including KONI and KYB! This site also has Boge and Bilstein inserts!

I did some other "shopping" on this site, and they seem to have just about everything, and the prices seem to be lower than I've found before.
