Strongly recommend dog to go with Transfer Partner under the guidance of a positive trainer.INTERDOG W/ REDIRECTIONDISCLOSURE: This dog has displayed inter-dog barrier reactivity with redirected aggression onto handler on at least two occasions. One of these resulted in a minor puncture to the hand. There is a high probability of future redirected aggression without behavioral intervention.IN-T INTERDOG/PUSHYThis dog was actively involved in a dog fight in the field at the time of impound. On assessment, he displayed multiple pushy/challenging behaviors that could result in a bite without proper training and management. For this reason, it is recommended that he go to a transfer partner only.AVAIL/ANXIETY/LEASH REACTIVEDISCLOSURE: Returned for "nervous anxious barking growling." This dog has a history of prey drive and will need to be managed around small animals. Recommend: Working with a trainer to teach muzzle skills and find a proper outlet for his drive. This dog should not live with cats.DISCLOSURE: Previous household disclosed that this dog escaped from his yard multiple times. No further information regarding how the dog was escaping was provided. This dog was kept as an 'outdoor' pet in its previous home.AVAIL DISCLOSUREDISCLOSURE: prior adopted reported that this dog bared teeth and growled at her adult son when he approached her. They reported that the dog did not display this behavior with any other individuals. RECOMMEND: Allow dog to take time meeting strangers as needed. He displayed a high level of offensive aggression in his kennel towards his evaluator and was deemed unsafe to remove from kennel for further assessment. Dog shows high probability of future bite.DISCLOSURE: dog snarled at handler who was seated in a chair when handler lifted side of lip to look at dog's teeth. Formal evaluation was ended for handler safety, behavior with strangers, resource guarding were not assessed. Recommend training classes, exercise, and reading "Chill out Fido" by Nan Arthur.DISCLOSURE: former owner reports dog "nipped" him in the past; intake was not completed due to tensing when handled; during assessment, evaluator noted some sensitivity to handling as well as mouthing when excited. Intake was not completed due to aggression. On behavior assessment, dog displayed sensitivity to handling and over arousal in play. Recommend transfer only to another organization for further assessment and training.TRANS BEH/TRANS MEDAt the time of the evaluation this dog was on Trazadone to help with kennel stress while under medical watch for illness. Dog presented as low energy, slow, but affiliative. Behavior Team plans to re-evaluate this dog in a few days.OCD behaviorsDISCLOSURE: This dog has demonstrated OCD behaviors in the form of overt and repetitive tail chasing/spinning and eurogenital checks. These behaviors may be indicative of poor coping skills for stress and/or history of reinforced behaviors. At this point, dog is easy to interrupt and redirect. Recommend: Interrupt and redirect dog to other activities. Due to high arousal while in this state, do not recommend physical interruption or punishment, as if these are anxiety based, they are likely to increase. If behaviors increase in intensity or duration, consult a Behavioral Veterinarian. ................
