Although Keith is fifteen miles from historic Selma, Alabama; nine miles from Old Cahawba Archaeological Park, it is situated in the westernmost part of Dallas County known as Alabama’s Black Belt. Keith’s feeder school, Salem Elementary is five miles away. KMHS is also five minutes away from the heart of main street, Orrville, Alabama. Orrville’s Mayor is a Keith alumnus offering out-standing school support.Keith Middle-High School campus includes two library media centers - one for middle school and one for high school; two gymnasiums, band room, football hut and multi-sport weight room. The football field is located behind the school and the baseball field is adjacent to the main gymnasium.Over the last few years, Keith Middle-High has changed from 1-A and is now a 2-A school. Current enrollment is approximately 289 students in grades six through twelve. Furthermore, one-hundred percent of students receive free or reduced lunch. The 2017-2018 school year has the largest senior class enrollment since the last 10 years. A unique feature includes 100% black population with no diversity. Another unique feature is that Keith has won the district’s Safe School challenge for the last two years. The Keith High School leadership team is under new direction including the principal, one assistant principal, guidance counselor and graduation coach. The leadership team also includes representatives from each discipline; elementary, middle and high school department. KMHS has a faculty of 23 full-time teachers. KMHS currently operates a traditional block & period school day with 90 minute blocks of math, science, social studies and language arts; a 50 minute Third Block period for daily remediation. Keith Middle 7th & 8th grades operates a traditional 7 period schedule; 6th graders are on a modified departmental schedule. The Mission of Keith High School is to provide a solid educational foundation empowering and challenging our students to become lifelong learners with the ability to meet their maximum potential and to develop responsible citizens who are prepared to succeed in an ever-changing society.The class of 2016 was honored to have six Early College graduates. The class of 2017 had seven dual enrollment students and one certificated phlebotomist.
