PerformanceonRequiredContentKnowledgeandPedagogyTests ToearnanAlabamaeducatorcerficate,basedoncompleonofatradionalapproach,anapplicantmustcompleteanapprovedprogramwithaprescribedgradepoint average(GPA)andmeetassessmentrequirements.PriortoSeptember1,2018,assessmentrequirementsincludedawrientestofpedagogicalknowledge,Principlesof LearningandTeaching(PLT),andaPraxiscontenttestspecifictotheteachingfieldorsubjectforwhichcerficaonissought.EffecveSeptember1,2018,edTPA,a performanceassessment,replacedthePLT.Noexcep onsaremadewithregardtotheserequirements. AlabamaAssociaonofCollegesforTeacherEducaonmembersdevelopedasurveytobeadministeredelectronicallytofirst-yearteacherswho,duringthe2017-2018school year,completedanAlabamaStateBoardofEducaon-approvedundergraduate(ClassB)oralternavemaster'sdegree(ClassA)programleadingtotheirfirstorinial ProfessionalEducatorCerficate.Acompanionsurveywasadministeredelectronicallytotheemployersofthosefirst-yearteachers.Dataprovidedinthisreportincludea summaryofsurveycategoriesandthepercentageoffirst-yearteacherswhostronglyagreed,agreed,disagreed,orstronglydisagreedthattheirprogrampreparedthemto teachsuccessfully.Thedataalsoprovidethepercentageofemployerswhoratedtheirfirst-yearteachersasteacherleader,effecveteacher,emergingteacher,orineffecve teacher.
