Professor of Private International Law, International Commercial Contracts and Alternative Dispute Resolution at the Universidad Iberoamericana, in Tijuana.

He has also been a visiting professor at the Universidad de Puerto Rico, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and with the Universidad de Barcelona, in Barcelona, Spain.

Speaker Engagements, Panelists, and Other International Collaborations

In September of 2009, meeting of the Special Drafting Committee for the Manual on Contracts on International Contracts, in Paris, France published by the International Trade Centre.

In April 2009, participated at the plenary meeting of the international Pro Bono Committee on International Contracts for the International Trade Center, held in Geneva, Switzerland. The International Trade Center is joint WTO and UNCTAD organization.

In January of 2008, he participated as a panelist at an international Seminar in Mexico City, on International Contracts and Arbitration, organized by the National Autonomous University of Mexico.

In May 2006, he participated as a panelist in the Hemispheric Trade Conference, organized by UNCITRAL, US AID, hosted by Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. He participated in the panel discussing international dispute resolution.

In November 2005, he was a panelist at an event that organized by UNCITRAL and the University of Pittsburgh, entitled “The CISG Digest as a Contract Drafting Tool”. Collaboration appeared in a book published by Oxford University Press.

In March 2005, he was a panelist at the 25th anniversary of the United Nation’s Convention on the International Sale of Goods an event that took place in Vienna, Austria, organized by the United Nation’s Commission on International Trade Law. His collaboration appears on-line at the UNCITRAL website and in a special edition of the Journal of Law and Commerce of the University of Pittsburgh.

Relevant Cases

In 2012, successfully defended a Mexican Party from the enforcement of an arbitration award issued under the rules of the International Cotton Association, in Liverpool, England.

In 2010, we successfully defended a Mexican Corporation in a multi-million dollar international arbitration dispute under the rules of the International Chamber of Commerce, derived from an international joint venture dispute.

In 2007, obtained an arbitral award for over $400,000 US Dollars, in an arbitration administered under the rules of the Mexican Arbitration Center applying the UNIDROIT Principles 2004. Award appears on-line at the UNILEX Database .

In 2005, obtained the recognition of a US Judgment in Mexico for $65 million dollars rendered by a District Court in California, in the “” case.

In 1999, obtained the first documented case applying the United Nation’s Sales Convention from a Mexican Court, .
