There are also links to resources provided by Awana Clubs International. We encourage you to take advantage of this resource, and we invite your comments. Several forms used in our club require notarization. To accommodate this requirement a notary public is available before most club meetings and during regular business hours in the church office.

Special Events

From Our Youth Pastor

Throughout the year our clubs participate in numerous events which occur outside the weekly meeting. Here are just a few:

Awana Grand Prix

Awana Grand Prix is a model car racing event popular among clubs nationwide. Clubbers purchase car kits consisting of a small block of wood and plastic wheels from which they construct their cars (usually with the help of a parent or leader). During the Grand Prix event, T&T clubbers participate in two categories: speed and design. T&T clubbers who win first, second, and third place awards for each category are then eligible to compete in regional competition. At the local level, we also allow Sparks to compete in a Sparks class and have an open Class Speed event for 7th grade through Adults. Each clubber is recognized for his/her participation.

Sparks-A-Rama and Awana Games [pic]

Sparks-A-Rama and Awana Games are annual sporting events which take place on the Awana Game Circle. Competition is among area Awana clubs.

Bible Quizzing

Bible Quizzing is a competitive event for T&T clubbers among area clubs that tests clubbers’ knowledge of handbook material and the Bible. The competition motivates clubbers to increase their Bible knowledge. Individual and team achievement is recognized.

Because kids matter to God, New Hope loves children and we believe it is the mission of the church for everyone to know about Christ, His life and His ultimate sacrifice to give us eternal life. We want to be faithful and introduce the children, who God has entrusted to us, to His Son Jesus.

As the youth pastor it is my prayer that we reach every boy and girl with the gospel during our time with them. It is our desire that every boy and girl learns what God’s Word has to say about their lives.

We wish to develop relationships and partner with parents to equip both them and their children with the gospel truths. I believe through Awana we can see true life change in you and your child.

We are thankful that you would allow us to teach your child about the risen Lord and how He loves, and has great plans for you and your child.

Awana Global Outreach (GO)

“Reaching Boys and Girls with the Gospel of Christ and

Training Them to Serve Him”

That is our purpose for having an Awana Club ministry at New Hope Baptist Church. We realize that your child is a gift from God. The Awana Club ministry is a tool we use to help your child come to know Jesus Christ in a personal way and to serve God who created him/her. Awana Clubs accomplish this through scripture memorization and the teaching of God’s Word.

We count it a privilege to work with you and your family. Our leaders love children and receive training to help them help your child. We hope to see, along with you, your child’s growth in the Lord as he/she memorizes and applies God’s Word to his/her life.

For maximum benefits we challenge you to work with your child at home to prepare for the club meeting each week. Doing so can be a special time as you help him/her learn God’s Word. As you help your child, you will also find yourself learning more of God’s Word. We offer a Parents Room, where you can stay, enjoy fellowship with other parents and learn skills to help you raise spiritual children.

We are looking forward to a great club year. Thank you for the privilege of working with your child. Please come and visit the club meeting at any time. Awana Global Outreach (GO) Opens the door for Kids to make a huge impact for the Kingdom

Awana GO is a missions program that gives us a meaningful and Kid friendly way to “go into all the world and make disciples”. It allows us to make an impact beyond the four walls of our church.

For every $10.00 given a child can be reached with Awana giving them the opportunity to Know the Lord Jesus Christ.

Each March clubbers are invited to participate in the Awana GO program. Over the years we have found that clubbers who participate become personally interested in reaching boys and girls around the world for Christ. This is a great way to expand your child’s missionary vision!

God is One Divine Being, manifest in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Mt 28:19; 2 Cor 13:14)

The Bible is God’s Word, fully inspired by the Holy Spirit; it is therefore infallible and inerrant. (2 Tim 3:16,17; 2 Pet 1:21; Mt 5:18; 1 Cor 2:13)

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died for the sins of the world, was raised from the dead, ascended to heaven, is now at the throne of God, and He will personally return to Earth. (Mt 1:18-25; Mt 28; Mk 16; 1 Thes 4:13-18, 5:9)

Man was created by God in His image but because of sin, man is lost and destined for judgment. (Gen 1, 2; Rom 3:9-19; Eph 2:1-3)

God has provided salvation through offering His Son on the cross and allowing His shed blood to atone for our sins. (Rom 3:25; Heb 9:22)

We are saved and justified when we recognize ourselves as sinners and put our trust in Christ as the Son of God and His finished work on the cross. Salvation is by grace through faith plus nothing. (Rom 3:24, 4:5; Eph 2:8,9; Titus 3:5)

Once saved, we cannot be lost. We are eternally secure. (Jn 3:16, 10:27-29; Phil 1:6; Rom 8:38,39)

Loyalty to Jesus Christ takes priority over any person or organization. (Mt 6:33)

The Christian experience is one of separation to Christ from worldliness and ungodliness. (Col 3:2)

The mission of the Church is to bring the good news of Jesus Christ, the Gospel, to others in the world. (Acts 1:8; Mk 16:15)

Sparks and T&T clubbers receive Awana Shares (sometimes called Awana Bucks) as rewards for weekly game time competition and handbook achievement. Awana shares may be “spent” in the Awana store. The Awana store offers various items such as pencils, cups, banners, small toys, and hats.

The Awana store is open typically four times a year. T&T clubbers may shop at the Awana Store from 6:45 until 6:55. T&T clubbers are encouraged to arrive at club early as the Awana Store closes promptly at 6:55.

For Sparks, the Awana Store is open during the club meeting. Sparks leaders accompany the Sparks to the store and assist the Sparkies in making their purchases.

Awards

Wednesday, 7:00 – 8:30 PM

Clubbers should arrive at club no later than 6:55 so that the club meeting may start promptly at 7:00.

Upon arrival we request that parents or authorized adults sign in their Cubbie and/or Sparky aged children at their respective rooms. We ask that T&T clubbers be escorted by an adult to the Family Life Center.

Clubbers should be picked up by 8:45. Cubbies and Sparks parents or an authorized adult will need to sign their clubbers out at their rooms. T&T clubbers may be picked up in the Family Life Center or church foyer.

Parents, please be sure to provide the names and phone numbers of those whom you wish to be authorized adults for picking up and dropping off your clubbers on the Medical Release Form.

Throughout the club year, club meetings are held on most Wednesday evenings. However, meetings are not held on certain Wednesdays due to holidays or conflicts with other church activities. Please consult the club calendar for details. Club calendars are available from the Awana office and from the church web site at .

Club awards are tangible items of recognition that clubbers earn by achieving in Awana. Children enjoy receiving recognition for their achievements. Awards heighten enthusiasm and motivate clubbers to achieve in club. Though we should seek to make love for God’s Word our primary motive for Bible study, one can’t deny the value of awards in providing a motivational edge for young people.

Awards are presented to clubbers on a regular basis. Sparks receive their awards weekly. T&T clubs present awards to their clubbers monthly.

Year-end awards are presented during the Awana Night Program held on a Sunday evening before the entire New Hope Baptist Church family. At this event, major awards (such as the Timothy Award and handbook completion awards) are presented and clubbers are recognized for their achievement throughout the club year.

Cubbies

Cubbies is our club for 3 and 4 year old children. Cubbies is fun with a purpose – to reach and train children for Jesus Christ. Games, puppets, crafts, awards, and other activities transform our preschool program into a lively weekly experience where fun and learning go hand-in-hand. Cubbies must be three years old by September 1st of the club year, or starting kindergarten in two years. Cubbies must be potty trained.

Sparks

Sparks is our club for kindergarten, first, and second grades. Sparks takes youngsters a step deeper into God’s Word while giving unsaved boys and girls regular opportunities to hear the Gospel and come to faith in Christ Jesus.

The Awana uniform is an important component of the Awana Ministry. Without uniforms, clubbers have no place to display achievement awards so incentives for passing handbook sections are compromised. Children enjoy belonging to clubs, and uniforms reinforce the sense of community. Uniforms encourage an orderly and disciplined club. Please encourage your clubber(s) to wear his/her uniform to every club meeting. If purchasing a uniform creates a hardship please contact the Awana Commander

Clubbers spend 1/3 of the club meeting working in their handbook. Therefore, it is very important for each clubber to bring his/her handbook to club. Handbooks may be purchased from the Awana office or through your child’s club director. If purchasing a handbook creates a hardship please contact the Awana Commander.

Each clubber is asked to bring 25¢ dues each week. The dues help defray the cost of awards which the clubber earns.

To have a safe, enjoyable, and orderly club meeting, our club has established clubber guidelines for behavior. All clubbers are expected to follow them. Your child’s cooperation will ensure a good time for all.

1. Respect your fellow clubbers. Treat them as you wish to be treated.

2. Everyone must participate. Whether playing games, listening, studying, singing, or anything else, all clubbers are expected to participate.

3. No running in the Family Life Center, foyer, or sanctuary unless you are on the game circle for game time.

4. Remain on the church property at all times.

5. Leave all food, drink, and chewing gum at home.

6. Respond to the Five-Count – stop what you are doing, become quiet, and listen to your leader.

7. Bring your Bible, handbook, and dues to club each and every week.

8. Wear your uniform every week.

9. Please take care of church property and club equipment.

10. Have a good time in each part of club. Awana is meant to be fun!

Note to Parents: During the club night, a director may use the Three-Count. That is, (1) a disruptive clubber will be asked by the director to settle down and warn him or her of the consequences. If the clubber continues, (2) the clubber will be brought to the commander who will encourage the clubber to obey club rules and then allow the clubber to return to his/her club. If the clubber continues to disrupt, (3) the clubber will be taken out of their club and either brought to his or her parents, or the parents will be notified when they pick up their child.

Truth & Training (T&T)

T&T is for 3rd through 6th grade children. T&T reflects the passion of Awana to teach boys and girls the truth of God’s Word and to train them to follow Christ in their daily lives. T&T’s goal is that many of today’s young people will become tomorrow’s church leaders. T&T is the program that trains the leaders of tomorrow – today.

Parents Room

We believe that parents are called to be (and are to be) intentional about their children’s spiritual development. (Deuteronomy 6:6-7)

The intent of all that happens in the Awana ministry is to help children be guided to the life-changing decision to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, to learn God’s Word, and to develop godly attitudes and behaviors.

Please join us each week in the Parent Room where we seek to:

- Equip parents for their spiritual leadership in the home

- Provide encouragement to parents as they disciple their children

- Create confidence in their spiritual role with their children

- Provide a variety of parental resources based on Biblical principles

- Make connections with other Awana parents

And of course, enjoy fellowship, fun, and food each Awana meeting night together!

Parents, We Need Your Help!

Mom and dad are essential in a child getting the most enjoyment out of club. Parents, please use the following checklist as a guide.

1. Ensure that your child attends every week.

Consistency in attendance will build friendships and inspire dedication needed for achievement.

2. Ensure that your child wears his/her uniform.

Proper display of awards contributes greatly to a sense of achievement. Awana awards are not given to a clubber who is not wearing his/her uniform.

3. Ensure that your child gets to club on time.

Promptness helps maintain good discipline. Remember, club starts at 7:00 PM and clubbers should arrive no later than 6:55 PM.

4. Help your child prepare for club each week.

Spend time reading and reviewing the handbook material with your child. Cubbie and Sparks parents check out the CD in your child’s book.

5. Attend all major club events.

Parents are always welcome and are encouraged to attend any weekly meeting.

6. Pick up your child promptly at 8:30 PM.

Please enter the church building when picking up your child. This makes for an orderly and safe dismissal.

7. Submit required forms.

Submit a notarized medical release. When needed, please submit a signed permission slip. Phone #’s and email address are very important.

8. Ensure that your child is wearing proper attire.

We request that children wear long pants or knee length shorts, and non-marking tennis shoes.

9. Let’s play safely

Before and after club, we have a large number of adults and children in the Family Life Center (FLC). This is a great time to greet each other and for the children to play briefly. Please help us ensure that this time is fun and safe for everyone by instructing your child not to run in the FLC.

Inclement weather / Fire emergency

In case of inclement weather (i.e. tornado warning) New Hope Baptist has an emergency shelter plan in place. In case of a fire we have an evacuation plan in place. Either of these plans may be practiced through out the year.
