Location Situated on a sand mound in the middle of the desert, approximately half an hour from Rohet Garh and close to the Wilderness Camp, “Mihir Garh” literally means the Sun Fortress. West of the village of Khandi, it is one of India’s first luxury edge-of-desert resorts and is surrounded by scrub farmland. It has 360 views and the night skies are alive with extraordinary planetary activity and seem to be only a stone’s throw away. Above all Mihir Garh provides a haven of desert comfort, offering more than 1700 square feet of private space, including private terraces to sleep under the stars, plunge pools and private courtyards, and amenities of a very high standard. The idea is to give people a  genuine ‘desert experience’ whilst being opulent and different.   It is fabulous for riding, picnics and excursions and camel safaris.   It is constructed out of wattle, mud and wood and has a wonderful rustic look whilst being supremely comfortable.  The Rohet family are amongst the best and keenest horsemen in Rajasthan and boast some of the finest horses in their stables. The outdoors really comes indoors here!

When to go / Climate Rajasthan has some major climactic fluctuations. During December, January and February, it can be cold in the mornings and evenings and warm clothes are necessary at these times. During the daytime it is lovely and warm and sunny. March and April are getting fairly hot and it begins to get very hot and humid in May and June and temperatures can rise to an intense and uncomfortable heat. The monsoon breaks in July and lasts until September. October and November are still warm but not cold or wet. The best time to visit is from October to early April. It is generally a dry heat with very little humidity.

Opening and closing The hotel remains open throughout the year

Pests Due to the dry heat of Rajasthan, mosquitoes are not a major problem but they do tend to come out in the evenings and early mornings, throughout the year and particularly in the warmer months. The hotel provides mosquito coils and repellents in the rooms to combat this.
