The funds held in Iola at the Waupaca Opportunities organization have been requested and will be sent so they can be deposited into the new checking account. “Getting to Know You” sign up As mentioned in last month’s meeting we will begin highlighting 2 agencies per month during our meeting to become better acquainted with the services provided by our own member organizations. A sign up sheet was distributed for October through December and the following are scheduled to present:October: Chantal Ellis, Hospice Advantage & Melanie Draska, Park VistaNovember: ARC Angels Senior Home Care & St. Joseph ResidenceDecember: Katrina Wychesit, Aster Retirement Community & Sara Reybrock, Waupaca Senior CenterNew BusinessAlzheimer’s Walk update – Kathleen AlbertThe Walk to End Alzheimer’s is this coming Saturday. All the refreshments are being donated. The ADRC and the Senior Center has volunteers lined up to help. There are still a few baskets needed from Coalition agencies and the sign up sheet was passed around. Baskets should be dropped off at the Senior Center by noon on Friday. About ? of the teams that we know are planning to participate have signed up mittee reports and discussion Marketing Committee Update See committee notes, attached.Education Committee UpdateThe committee reported that at the October meeting there will be a presentation on Options for Independent Living and Safety in the Home. There is interest in bringing the Dementia Friendly Community training into Waupaca. This would be a good project for the Coalition to take on in 2016, after the Virtual Dementia Tour which will be held in December at King. Other training topics lined up for the Coalition in 2016 include: Care Transitions in February, Parkinson’s Disease in April and Brain Awareness in June.Event Committee UpdateSee committee notes, attached. Jennifer Schimmelpfenning reported that the ADRC is already getting calls about the Caregiver Conference. ADRC UpdateUpcoming presentations are scheduled in October with the Elderly Benefits Specialist on Medicare and Social Security options. There will be assistance available for Medical Assistance Applications as well. Other Business/UpdatesMembers shared the following:Sarah Halstead shared information on a Live Your Adventure event that Bethany is hosting during Active Aging Week with the Senior Center and Adventure Outfitters at South Park in Waupaca on September 29th. The event is for anyone 50 years old and over and is free. There will be Kayaking and Paddle Boarding demonstrations, Zumba, Walking adventures, a free healthy lunch, brain exercises and over $500 in prizes.
