Position Description - Website Manager

Job Title: Website Manager

Preferred location: AMCS National Office, Brisbane (Preferred). Some flexibility may be possible for the right candidate.

Salary: Dependant on skills and experience.

Hours: Full-time (38 hours per week). Some flexibility may be possible for the right candidate.

Contract period: One year contract, with a view to becoming permanent.

Reporting: The position reports to the AMCS Communications Manager.

Role:

The Web Manager will be a generalist web developer who can work with a variety of tools. You will be responsible for developing, managing and maintaining the primary websites of AMCS. You will have a strong user understanding and demonstrated expertise in web development, architecture, content and design and a broad background in communications.

You will work closely with the Fundraising Manager, Communications Manager and Digital Communications Officer to develop and implement the AMCS website and digital marketing strategies.

 

Main tasks and responsibilities:

1. Managing the AMCS websites.

2. Devising strategies to drive online traffic to AMCS’ websites, increase supporter growth, engagement and donor conversion.

3. Managing the redesign and implementation of the AMCS main website and integration with the database and additional microsites.

4. Responsibility for website reporting and analysing

5. Responsibility for planning and budgetary control of all website and digital marketing.

6. Evaluating research, market conditions and competitor data to benchmark performance targets and measure AMCS performance across all platforms.

7. Reviewing new technologies to keep AMCS at the forefront of website and digital marketing developments to ensure a quality user experience.

8. Writing or updating written and visual content for the AMCS websites, including overseeing the production and updating of content by key AMCS staff.

9. Providing communications support for other AMCS activities as needed including fundraising, production of communications materials, media liaison and organisational strategy and planning.

10. Working with AMCS campaigners, fundraisers and the Digital Communications Officer to achieve all of the above.

Essential Selection Criteria:

• Excellent skills and experience managing and creating content for websites. Previous experience managing advocacy websites will be highly regarded.

• Excellent project management skills, demonstrated through managing a website-upgrade, integration with other databases/microsites and managing a project with a small team from concept to execution to evaluation.

• Excellent communication skills, including copywriting and visual media.

• Extensive knowledge and ability to utilise optimization techniques to deliver the best website user experiences in a technically efficient manner.

• Demonstrated experience applying current online marketing concepts, strategy and best practice to help grow website visitation, the supporter base, fundraising and engagement in an advocacy organisation.

• Extensive (3+ years) previous experience in a similar role.

Desirable Selection Criteria:

• Commitment to protecting Australia’s oceans.

• Relevant degree such as BA or MFA Digital Media, Marketing, Interaction Design, or equivalent experience in the field.

• Demonstrated knowledge of the following: CSS, XHTML, CSS, Javascript - including cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility.

• Familiarity with latest tracking and analytics tools for social media and web (including advanced knowledge of Google Analytics).

• Experience utilising SEO, PPC, email marketing, and social media.

• Experience with using a web CMS; Preferred - Ruby, Liquid, MailChimp template language, XML, PHP.

• Multimedia design skills.

• Experience in campaigning or fundraising.
