Jim Ragusa gave the school report which included the recent state wrestling championship where PRHS won the regional crown and lost in the semi-finals, the Spanish Honor Society Fun Run scheduled for Feb. 8th at North Collier Regional Park to benefit Youth Haven and raise awareness about mental health concerns among adolescents, and an update on the band’s spring schedule and upcoming orchestra concert.A change in our administrative team was also covered as Jessie Garcia, our AP in Attendance and Discipline was promoted to be the new Assistant Principal for Curriculum at Lely High School. The opening was advertised and Lanajean Costello, who was serving as our testing coordinator, was selected. She will move into the new position in February.INSTRUCTIONAL UPDATES:Quarter 2 Data ReviewDISCUSSIONMr. Ragusa discussed the results from the quarter 2 benchmark results. Scores improved from quarter 1. One area of focus is the 10th grade English Language Arts scores and our Reading Coach is working with those teachers to analyze student performance.ALLOCATION UPDATES/BUDGET REVIEW:National Honor Society requestScience- Geiger Meter requestEnglish Teacher books requestModified Curriculum class technology requestScience- Lab materials requestDISCUSSIONClaudine Randall presented a class for her Science class was presented. The request is for supplies for a lab that involves the dissection of a large mammal (a mink). The cost of the materials is $745.00. A motion to approve was made by Justin Feingold/2nd by Teri Sweigert. Unanimous vote carries the motion.A request from Amy Komninos for her Intensive Reading class was presented. The request was for copies of the short story collection “Fresh Ink” was presented. The cost of the request is for $468.60. A motion to approve was made by Anthony Rowtie/2nd by Unanimous vote carries the motion.A request from Allison Chapman for her Science class was presented. The request was for a Geiger counter that would be used in her classroom. The cost of this request is $345.00. A motion to approve was made by Maryanne Garcia/ 2nd by Justin Feingold. Unanimous vote carries the motion.A request from Erin Finn for her Modified Curriculum class was presented. The request is for a class set of Amazon Fire 7 inch displays with cases and protection plan was made. The cost for of these items is $779.70. A motion to approve was made by Will Kittinger/2nd by Anthony Rowtie. Unanimous vote carries the motion.The final request was a modification to the approval of funds made by SAC for the National Honor Society in October. The funds were to be utilized for their Saturday workshop for other schools. This request is to allow for the use of funds remaining from that event to be used for other expenses incurred by the club. A motion to approve this request was made by Tom Romeo/2nd by Maryanne Garcia. Unanimous vote carries the motion. MISC. ITEMS:February EventsDISCUSSIONMr. Ragusa spoke about the beginning of the spring sport season and the conclusion of winter sports as district play was beginning this week. He also discussed the work of Pastor Will Kittenger and Emmanuel Communities to bring a park to our community.
