KEY TASKS:INTERNATIONAL STUDENT SUPPORTFollow the EIT international strategy, systems and processes to ensure that international students receive effective and timely advice and pastoral care, in accordance with EIT policies and external regulationsFollowing an assessment of individual student needs, provide and coordinate support and/or advocacy to individual International students to improve welfare, academic and experiential outcomes.Propose and action projects to improve the support systems offered so that EIT remains at the forefront of international student support.Continually monitor and review the systems and identify and implement changes as necessary in relation to poor academic performance and non-attendance procedures to enable timely student support.Act as the (24/7) emergency contact for international students.Design and promote international student events on and off campus to support social integration of international studentsImplement the pre-arrival communication plan for incoming international students and utilise social media to connect with new and existing studentsRecruit and train Peer Mentors (existing international students) to provide assistance with new students and eventsContinually review the services and advice provided to students and identify opportunities for improvement in collaboration with other team membersManage the creation, distribution, and analysis of surveys to collect student feedbackWhen required, arrange and attend academic misconduct meetings with studentsDevelop Study Support Plans for ‘At Risk Students’ with Programme Co-ordinators and Learning AdvisorsProvide reports on student support matters to the International Student Support Team Leader.Work with colleagues in managing critical incidents following EIT policies and procedures.Provide language support services as required for international students.Record all student support activity in EIT’s student support management system and inform relevant stakeholders of any issuesDesign, plan and run the International Orientations for all new international studentsManage the warning procedures for international students in relation to e.g. poor academic performance, non-attendanceAdvise line manager of any issues that either affect the provision of international student support and/or that may have implications for EITAct as the full-time (24/7) emergency contact for international students and external stakeholders Support colleagues in managing critical incidents following EIT policies and procedures.Develop and maintain close working relationships with relevant community services and external organisations to ensure international students’ religious, cultural, health, safety, welfare and other needs are met in an appropriate and sensitive manner.ATTENDANCE MONITORINGMonitor international student attendance on a weekly and monthly basis.Monitor recording of attendance by lecturers and follow up if necessary.Follow and action the EIT non-attendance procedure with international students and liaise with relevant stakeholders.Provide weekly summary of attendance issues to International Student Support Team Leader.Provide training and support to Academic staff to set up and record student attendance.ACCOMMODATIONProcess applications for accommodation in Hawkes Bay: enquiries handling, placement in accommodation and provision of information for students.Administer financial procedures related to accommodation and airport transfer services in accordance with EIT policy and proceduresLiaise with contracted accommodation providersRespond to and manage the outcomes of enrolled students’ questions and issues related to accommodationMaintain an understanding of EIT’s obligations under the Code of Practice in relation to accommodation provisionSource additional accommodation providers and manage contracts and follow upsKeep all administration systems up to date in relation to accommodation placementCOMMUNICATIONSAssist in updating the EIT Hawkes Bay student support Facebook profile and EIT Hawkes Bay Student Facebook group as requested.Action the pre-departure communications plan including the EIT Hawkes Bay campus specific international student support information and record all contact with students in accordance with EIT policies and procedures.AdministrationAct as the point of contact for supporting students when navigating EIT’s policies and processes.Administer the International Student Support budget in conjunction with line managerResponsible for ensuring all published materials pertaining to student support and accommodation are current and available when necessary.
